Chapter 3

Dylan POV

 

Octavia, my mate that I rejected. Did I feel pity for her? No. Did I feel terrible about taking her best friend as my mate? No. Do I feel guilty about emotionally abusing her and letting pack members treat her like trash? Yes, yes, I do. I had a crush on her when we were younger. She was such an adorable little girl. I remember wishing she would be my mate and the moon goddess granted my wish.

 

Then all the pack members hated her, and all my friends started insulting her. I pitied her at first, but then I started having more fun taunting her. I never raised my hands on her, but I commanded people to. When she didn't shift, I made fun of her every chance I got. She never said a word. She never made a sound when anybody hit her. She endured it all. Samantha doesn't know, but anytime Samantha hits her, and she leaves. Octavia looks at Samantha longingly. That is the only person she cares about. As her mate, when I taunt her, she just looks at the ground. She makes no sound, and she doesn't say a word. It always pissed me off that I could never get her attention. She only cares about Samantha. I rejected her and forced her to reject me. She did it with tears in her eyes. The rejection was painful, but I smirked at her and left her to cry. Then I decided to mate with Samantha to hurt her more, and I did. My wolf never agrees with me. My wolf hates Samantha. He is usually complaining whenever I have sex with her. Sometimes I block him out. There are times he will fight with me for control. So I always inject myself with wolfsbane so he won't fight for control. I know it isn't good. Wolfsbane is poisonous, but that's the only thing to get my wolf off my back.

 

I claimed her as my mate, and anytime Octavia was near, I acted extra romantic to her. But still, she looks at Samantha longingly! I wanted to hurt her badly, so I was happy when Samantha said she was pregnant. Not because of the child but because I wanted to hurt Octavia. When I announced it, she finally looked at me defeated and broken. The pack jubilated, but I saw her sneaking out. I forgot about Octavia and celebrated with my friends and pack members. I was feeling happy and triumphant because I finally managed to break her.

 

"I am going to the bathroom," I said to Samantha. I headed to the bathroom. I did my business; then I felt a powerful emotion of pain, anguish, anger and sadness. The emotions were powerful. I held my chest. 'Who owns these emotions' I thought, closing my eyes in pain. Wait, are these Octavia's emotions? I had never felt her emotion. This is the first time, and it doesn't feel very pleasant. My chest felt like it was about to blow up. Is this how she always felt? She has been having these intense emotions for years. If she was a human, she would have died by now. How did she cope? I couldn't take it anymore. I passed out with one thought in my mind. 'My wolf will forever hate me.'

 

2 hours later

 

"Ugh," I groaned. My head felt heavy. I sat up and shook my head. I looked around, and I was in the hospital. What am I doing here? Then I remembered.

 

"Oh, my God! Octavia!" I said, panicking. I quickly stood up. Samantha came walking in.

 

"Oh, Dylan, you're awake. You had me worried," she said, not looking worried at all.

 

"Not now, Samantha. Where is Octavia?" I asked, trying to keep my cool.

 

"How am I supposed to know? I haven't seen the bitch since when we announced the pregnancy. Why are y....." I didn't allow her to finish her statement. I ran out of the hospital. After getting to the pack house, I went to her room. I heard moans. 'Who is Octavia having sex with? I was beginning to get angry, so she has been cheating on me since! That two-faced lying bitch! I slam the door open. It was not Octavia; it was one of the pack teens.

 

"Alpha!" they screamed, shocked.

 

"What are you doing in Octavia's room having sex on her bed?" I asked them, and they started laughing. I was confused. What is funny here? When they saw I wasn't laughing, they stopped.

 

"Wait, Alpha, are you serious? You were the one who chased her out of this room and told her to stay in the basement," the girl said, looking confused. Then I remembered I did chase her out of the room to punish her for pouring coffee on my clothes. I am such an animal!

 

I left the room and headed to the basement. When I got there, I opened the door. I could smell her here, but not strong. I saw a door, and I went closer and opened it. Her soothing scent slapped me in the face. Strawberries. My wolf, Ryder, was whining at the smell.

 

Her room, no, this is not a room. It consists of a small dirty bed and a small table. It is so dark here. I also saw a small bathroom. This is where she has been staying. My wolf started whining loudly.

 

"This is all your fault! Your mate has been suffering, and you added to her suffering! You are a monster for doing this to her!!" He screamed furiously. I opened the pack mind link. Mind linking everyone.

 

"Listen, everyone, has anyone seen Octavia?" I asked.

 

"No Alpha"

 

"I didn't see her today Alpha."

 

"The last time I saw her was 3 days ago."

 

"Yes, Alpha, I saw her running to the border like 2 hours ago."

 

Wait, border? 2 hours ago. Oh, shit! I quickly mind-link the pack warriors.

 

"I need four groups of warriors containing three people to move out and search for Octavia. Spread yourselves and look for her now!" I screamed, running out of the basement. I really hope it's not what I think it is.

It has been 3 hours, and we have not seen Octavia. I followed her scent. It was faded, but I could smell it, then I got to a stream, and I couldn't locate her smell again. We searched and searched, and she was nowhere to be found. I can't link her because she had cut ties with the pack. Defeated, I went back to my pack.

 

"You chased your mate away! You are a terrible human!! Moon goddess made a mistake making you my human!!" my wolf screamed at me.

 

"You are a monster. You have lost your mate and your wolf after you rejected her and forced her to reject us. I stood strong and took away 80% of the rejection pain. Do you think what you felt was pain? I was still happy seeing my mate! But you chased her! Now she is gone, she is gone, I am nothing without a mate," he said, and just like that, I felt an immense pain that sent me down to my feet.

 

"That pain you are feeling is the rejection pain and all the pains of everything you did to her," my wolf said sadly. Then I could feel my wolf dying.

 

"Goodbye, human," he said, then the pain increased. I screamed as my body shifted to my human. The pack gathered around me, confused. The pain was intense and my heart was beating loudly when I couldn't take it anymore I passed out. I just lost my mate and wolf in one day.

 

 

 

I guess the saying is true. You never value what you have until you lose it.
