Chapter 10

Anahita's POV

I can't stop my tears now. I am sitting in a taxi. The taxi driver gave me a strange vibe. I asked him to drop me off at the train station. I bought a ticket for the earliest train that leaves in half an hour. I hugged the bag that I only had. I am alone again. There was a time in everyone's life when they were afraid of bare bones, rotted to the ground, wanted to throw up, give up on their desires, or run and hide. I promised my brother that I would be safe. It seems my decisions are destined to be proven wrong.

I sat on nearby resting slabs. Because it's early morning, there are very few people. I hug my legs closer to my chest. It hurts, but not as much as my heart does. My energy is drained, so I didn't realise when my dozing turned to napping.

When I opened my eyes, I suddenly felt suffocated. That smell is very familiar to me. so familiar that it is scary. It seemed to be everywhere. I heard foot steps approaching, and soon dread filled me. I slowly turned my hea
