My mind was positively reeling. Never in a million years would I have thought that the vampire at the door would turn out to be my uncle of all people. I had a few memories of my mother mentioning him.

The resemblance was uncanny. He and my mother had the same color of hair and eyes. He looked older than I remembered compared to what she did, but vampires typically aged gracefully.

I had been all alone for so long that I honestly thought I would also die alone. It was heartwarming to hear someone speaking positively about my amazing parents. They had been in my heart alone for so long, but now their memory was able to truly live on. And it was freeing in a way that I had not expected to ever feel.
