Cory, Elian's most trusted guard, put his hand to my chest and gave me a little shove that sent me two steps back.

“Elian made it clear to me and every other guard, you are not to be allowed into this place under any circumstances.”

I threw off his rudeness with a laugh.

“Come on man, you don't have to dig things too deep.”

The frown on his face did not relax.

“I've been given direct orders, you know me too well. I won't discard it even if it means my death.”

A solitary sigh escaped my lips, Cory takes things a little too extra.

There was no need to bring the matter of death into it.
