“Sexy girl,” one of the customers called out to Liya as she walked past. Even if it took everything in her not to send a slap across his face, she continued pouring his drink into his glass. She looked up the stairs. She was taking her time to get used to the fact that this was her job now. Stupid remarks from people who weren’t even supposed to know her were normal. But then, she knew that it was going to take her time to get used to it.

Her eyes had been on the stairs the whole time. She was taking her time to know how things in the club worked. From their routines to their shifts, to the people who were allowed to head up the stairs. Liya was barely doing anything, but she could feel eyes on her. She didn’t need anyone telling her that someone was watching her specifically.

Her eyes landed on the CCTV cameras. She could feel Damian’s eyes behind them. He was paying more attention to her than he should. Liya couldn’t help but think that Kay had told him something about her. Or she

Liya didn’t know if she was supposed to expect to meet Aldo there. But as she walked into the empty apartment, she knew that the little conversation they had about Alana had even more effect on him than she thought it ever would. The thought of it all always made her frown. It always made her worry. That was the first time that she had ever seen Aldo remain angry at her. And that was the same reason why Aldo had been angry at Aria last time. Who was Alana and what had happened between them that left such deep marks? She knew that she needed all the sleep in the world at that point. But then, she couldn’t sleep. She still needed to go through the documents that Frank had given her. She had barely taken off her shoes when a knock at the door came. Liya slowly walked down to the door. Even if there was a kind of confidence that came with her being Irene, she still wasn’t able to shake off the feeling that she was being watched from time to time. Or that there was something fishy going

“Yes, I am,” Liya answered, moving away from the man, who had pressed himself to the wall. He didn’t look offended. Instead, he looked amused. “Now, I see what Aldo was talking about,” he muttered, but not quietly enough for Liya not to have heard. “What was he talking about?” Liya asked, and Frank smirked at her.“Nothing that you need to know. Just stay safe, Liya.”Liya felt herself shiver at the way he was calling her actual name in the club. She was already getting too used to being called Irene there. “Why did Aldo send you here?” She asked, and Frank frowned. “He didn’t exactly send me here. Aldo still has other people here who are protecting you. He didn’t even ask us to watch you. All he wants is to make sure that you are safe. He doesn’t want to have any business with the way you move here. He trusts you. Which is rare. But I guess you have proven yourself.”Liya couldn’t even explain why she felt a sense of pride wash through her. She felt like she had done everything t

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 70: NDA

What did they mean by she had to sign an NDA? Was the threat of death not enough? She had spent minutes pacing the living room. Aldo had to hold her for a while, trying to assure her that she was going to be fine. Liya couldn’t wrap her head around the reason why Damian was going to like her. All she did the night was serve drinks. He had only seen her as Irene for a night. She understood that there were CCTVs around the club. Every single inch. That was one of the things that had discouraged her. But then, she was still willing to take the risk. And even with how low-key she had tried being, he just had to do this. She lowered her head. It wasn’t exactly her time to check in. Somehow, the club was always open. Those blue lights were always on. There was always a DJ. It didn’t matter the time. Her heart seemed to beat in rhythm with the music. “Where are you going?” One of the guards asked, pushing her back like she was nothing. She raised her head immediately, and they both steppe

Liya didn’t want to get up that morning. But she knew she had to. After the night she and Aldo had, she woke up with his hands wrapped around her waist. She felt like the luckiest girl in the world. The moments they spent together were the one thing that she had always wished for. But then, nothing had changed between them. It felt like they were just messing with each other’s minds. They wanted something beautiful. But at the same time, they didn’t want things to change. All she wanted was to come back home. To finally have time to address whatever was going on. Damian might have brought them together because of his little game. But then, they weren’t going to just stay in the same spot.Aldo got out of bed, showing Liya even more of his cooking skills. She didn’t want to be far from him so he carried her to the kitchen while he cooked, and she sat on the counter watching him. And even while he worked, her eyes were fixed on his broad chest.Somehow, she loved the little apartment

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 68: Long Day

Liya sighed as she walked into her new small apartment. It was nothing less than she had imagined. Aldo wanted to get her an accommodation in one of the best apartments around. But then, he wanted to make it as believable as it should be. And that was the only reason why she was stuck in the little place. She switched on the light and kicked off her shoes, more than ready to collapse on the couch and let her legs catch a break. She had been on her feet the whole night and she was exhausted.“Welcome home, love,” she heard from behind her, making her jump in fear, turning to see Aldo seated on one of the chairs. He was dressed in casual clothes. “W-what are you doing here?” She asked, trying to calm her racing heart. He raised an eyebrow like the question was weird, as he stood up to meet her. “Are you not happy to see me?” He asked, and she wrapped her hands around him. He was the first breath of fresh air that she had had in hours. Sweat and alcohol were the only things she smelle
