Chapter 2

Marilyn was startled. Then she ran out of the Chambers family's villa.

Marilyn ran all the way nonstop. It was still early. There were few pedestrians on the road.

The morning fog was thick. Tears blurred her eyes, and her body trembled involuntarily.

The beautiful foster mother she had always respected set her up!

The sister whom she had always loved and protected, treated her as a tool to make money!

Marilyn felt that her world was collapsing, and she was in such despair that she couldn't feel anything else but pain.

Immersed in tremendous grief, she ran into the road when a dark red sports car was speeding over.

In a flash, a long braking horn sounded.

The next minute, Marilyn realized she was on the road, her eyes blurred by tears contracted violently.

With the sound of a bang, Marilyn's body flew up and hit back onto the ground in a short distance.

She lay motionless on the ground, her face ghastly pale. The red blood sprang from the back of her head.

As her vision gradually blurred, she vaguely saw a slender figure walking towards her.

But she smiled in despair. She thought it was good. There was nothing to miss in this world anyway.

Marilyn slowly closed her eyes, tears streaming down from the corners of her eyes.

********

Seven years later.

Fielddell Airport.

There was a six-year-old boy in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, with a pair of sunglasses on his handsome little face. His pink lips were slightly pursed.

The little boy was protected by a group of bodyguards. He walked out of the airport exit. Behind him was a beautiful woman in a black dress. Her wavy hair was simple but fashionable. She carefully protected the little boy.

"Look, he is here. It's the famous child star, Arturo Chapman."

"He is so cool!"

"Even the way he walks is cool!"

Arturo's fans kept screaming.

At the exit of the airport, a lot of people were taking photos of Arturo with their phones.

Arturo, the child star who had recently become famous throughout the country, was only six years old, but he was very well-known.

He smiled at his fans around him and thanked them warmly before getting in a black van.

With no more of the noise outside, Arturo quickly took out his phone and dialed a phone number with his thin fingers.

One, two, Arturo muttered in his mind, and before he could say the number three, the phone call was answered.

Arturo's mouth curled up slightly, and he said in a soft voice, "Mom, where are you?"

On the highway to the city center. In a taxi.

"Arturo, mom is on the highway." The woman who answered the phone was wearing a simple and elegant dress. Her face was delicate and pretty. Her beautiful curly hair was dyed a charming light brown, which made her look mature.

"Good. Mom, you must remember to come and watch my performance." Arturo's voice was soft and pleasant.

The woman's plump lips curved up slightly, and she smiled happily. "Okay, I will come to you later. Remember to send the location to me."

"Okay, mom!"

The woman smiled and hung up. The smile at the corner of her mouth slowly disappeared.

She looked out the window at everything she was familiar with. Her eyes gradually turned cold and her mind gradually drifted away.

It had been seven years, and she had finally returned to the city that had torn her apart.

On the day she graduated from university, she was dragged to a luxurious banquet by the Chambers family. She was drugged by Sandra. In the end, after a night with Mr. Hamilton, she was pregnant with rare triplets.

When she returned to the Chambers family's villa and heard the conversation between Sandra and her foster mother, she ran out of the villa and never came back for seven years.

She was not the Chambers family's biological daughter. When she was six years old, she was adopted by the Chambers family after being hit by a car. Although it was said that she was adopted, the life she had in this family was even worse than a servant.

She once thought that after she graduated from university, she could find a job to be free from the control of the Chambers family. However, she did not expect that after she graduated from university, what awaited her was a snare.

She was pregnant because of that snare. Maybe the man's genes were really good so she had triplets.

Two sons and one daughter.

Back then, no matter how she tried to grasp her life, she couldn't succeed.

However, youth was a ceremonious banquet that would end plainly.

In seven years, she became calm and strong.

And after that night, she wanted to escape the city. Marilyn was not badly injured during that car accident. And the person who hit her had now become her good friend. It was all her credit that Marilyn could have what she had today.

Marilyn had been gone for seven years, and it was time for her to come back now. She knew that some things could not be avoided.

She wouldn't let go of those who had hurt her and she decided to find her biological parents. She had to find them.

Her surname was Chambers, and after she went to Goldmere, she changed her surname to Chapman. Now she was called Marilyn Chapman.

Bang.

An ear-piercing braking sound came from the front of a taxi, followed by an intense crash.

The taxi driver stopped instantly and Marilyn leaned forward uncontrollably.

Marilyn was hit at the front of the taxi. She became dizzy at once.

"Miss, there seems to be an accident. The brake might have failed to work," The taxi driver in the front seat said.

Marilyn shook her head and looked at the scene of the car accident. It was about six in the morning, and there were very few cars on the highway.

Marilyn did not think much about it and quickly opened the car door and got off.

"Miss, you haven't paid yet," The middle-aged taxi driver shouted at Marilyn who ran out as if he didn't want to get involved in this accident.

Marilyn frowned slightly. She took out the money from her shoulders and handed it to the driver. In the end, she ran to the place where the accident happened without looking back.

The taxi she took just now drove past her.

Her white skirt was lifted by the air and she quickly took out her phone to make an emergency call.

The car that had an accident was a limo. Marilyn walked over and patted the window.

"Sir, are you alright?" Through the car window, Marilyn saw a man lying on the steering wheel with blood on his forehead, and the airbag had ejected out.

"Sir, sir..." Marilyn called out a few more times, but the person inside still did not respond.

Marilyn reached out to pull the car door, but she did not expect the car door could really be opened.

"Sir, are you alright?" Marilyn looked at the man lying on the steering wheel, who seemed to still have some consciousness, with blood flowing down from his head.

"Sir, are you okay?" Marilyn helped him up and saw that his forehead was still bleeding. The blood dripped along his cheek onto his expensive white shirt, which now was tinted with red blood.

Marilyn was shocked by the red blood.

She quickly rummaged through her backpack and took the soft handkerchief. Her hand tightened. The handkerchief was printed with the picture that her daughter won an award by it. Marilyn couldn't think too much and pressed the wound on the man's forehead with the handkerchief.

It was still early, and there were very few cars on the highway. Even if there were cars passing by, they wouldn't notice this because they drove very quickly.

Marilyn was anxious, hoping that the ambulance would come soon.

Just as she turned sideways, her arm was suddenly held tightly by a big hand.

Marilyn looked at the man quickly. The man looked in great pain and his face was covered in blood. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he couldn't succeed.

"Sir, please hold on. The ambulance will be here soon."

Marilyn's hand was already stained with blood. She frowned slightly and waited for about twenty minutes before seeing the ambulance.

When the paramedics carried the man onto the stretcher, the man still held her hand and did not let go. Marilyn thought that she could take the ambulance back to the city, so she got on the ambulance too.

In a hospital in Fielddell, in a ward full of disinfectant water, the man lying on the bed had already been treated properly. The man's injury was not serious. He had a slight concussion and now a few stitches on his forehead.

Only then did Marilyn take a closer look at the man's appearance. His fair skin now had a touch of morbid paleness. His facial features were distinct and deep, revealing a cold, angular edge. He had thick eyebrows and a high nose bridge, and the shape of his lips was beautiful. He seemed to be a noble gentleman. A handsome man like him was very rare.

But Marilyn seemed to have seen this handsome face somewhere else before.
