Chapter 6

Malcolm raised his head.

But he only saw the host on TV.

He casually glanced at it and withdrew his gaze.

Seeing Arturo's profile, Malcolm didn't think too much.

He suddenly thought of the schedule for tomorrow. He asked, "The design director from the branch will be here tomorrow, right?"

Julian smiled and said, "Malcolm, yes. This design director entered the branch company of the Lowe Group three years ago. She has been promoted to the design director of the branch company with her unique design within three years. She's quite excellent. She will help you a lot after she takes over Hannah's job."

Malcolm nodded with no expression on his face.

The Lowe Group ran various industries.

But Malcolm had always been obsessed with the design industry.

A warm scene suddenly crossed his mind.

"Lynn, what do you want to do when you grow up?"

"Malcolm, is my princess dress beautiful?" Carolyn stood up and spun around with a sweet smile in front of Malcolm. Her beautiful princess dress fluttered up, making her pink and tender face even sweeter and more charming.

"Yes!"

"That's right. The person who designed such beautiful clothes must be excellent. I will also learn fashion design and make many princess dresses for myself." Carolyn's clear eyes were filled with hope.

Malcolm had been happy and satisfied to look at her innocent smile.

But when he thought of that rainy night, his heart was filled with regret and blame.

He picked up the glass and drank the wine, but it didn't dispel the frustration in his heart.

Taking a deep breath, Malcolm stood up and walked out of the door.

The slender figure was shrouded in deep sorrow.

Julian ate after watching TV. He was also trying to persuade Malcolm to drink less.

Julian stared at Malcolm's back before he could eat a piece of chicken. Closing his eyes in resignation, he thought that Malcolm was hard to please.

He stuffed the chicken into his mouth, which would make him feel a little full.

He grabbed the car key on the table and followed Malcolm out.

It was in a high-end restaurant in Fielddell.

The crisp sound of glasses clinking could be heard in the large private room.

"Cheers!" Jeannie shouted happily.

Everyone gulped down the red wine in their hands.

Marilyn, Jeannie, and Roland took Arturo out to celebrate after the competition had finished.

Jeannie looked at Arturo smilingly. Her gaze was doting and her tone was gentle and excited. "Congratulations to our Arturo on winning first place in the piano competition."

"Thank you, mom! My success is thanks to you." Arturo looked at Jeannie with a smile.

Jeannie didn't like Arturo calling her by her name. Therefore, Arturo simply called her mom to please her.

"You're so sweet." Jeannie gave a big smile. After drinking the wine, her face was a little red and she looked more charming.

She happily kissed Arturo's little face, leaving a red mark on his fair face.

Arturo didn't mind. He looked at Marilyn and smiled.

The song he had sung in the competition was written for Marilyn.

He wanted to thank Marilyn and his grandma for raising him and his siblings.

Marilyn rubbed Arturo's head lovingly.

She looked at Jeannie and asked, "Jeannie, when are you going back to Goldmere?"

Roland looked at Marilyn and said with a charming smile, "Lynn, we will go back tomorrow. A director wants Arturo to play a child's role. I have to take Arturo back to Goldmere for the audition tomorrow. The filming will be over before Arturo starts school."

"Arturo, don't tire yourself. Listen to Grandma when you go back. I will be back in a month." Marilyn looked at Arturo with care.

Arturo looked at Marilyn with his large, clear eyes. He said with his tender and pleasant voice, "Mom, don't worry. You can just focus on your work. The three of us will listen to Grandma."

Marilyn nodded with relief.

Raising her eyebrows, Jeannie looked at Marilyn with dissatisfaction as if she hadn't been valued. "Lynn, you don't have to worry. I'll be with the three kids. I will take good care of them. Don't worry, just focus on your work. The Chambers Enterprise has had a bad business in recent years. They are underselling their shares. I will also buy some to help you."

Roland, who had been neglected for quite a while, said in dissatisfaction, "Lynn, don't forget that I will also keep an eye on the shares of the Chambers Enterprise. I will buy them whenever I have the chance."

Marilyn looked gratefully at Jeannie and Roland.

She owed them most.

"Roland, thank you!" Marilyn looked at Roland gratefully.

"Aren't we family? You don't have to thank me. Otherwise, we look unfamiliar to each other! Let's go! I'll send you back to the apartment."

Roland volunteered to be Marilyn's protector. He had protected her for seven years.

Jeannie also said, "Then I'll take Arturo to the hotel first. The flight takes off tomorrow morning. Lynn, you don't have to come over to see us off."

"Okay! Thanks!" Marilyn squatted down and kissed Arturo on the forehead. She was extremely reluctant to be apart from him.

"Goodbye, mom!" Arturo was also unwilling to part with Marilyn. But Marilyn would not be at ease if she didn't work.

"Goodbye!" Marilyn waved at Arturo and Jeannie.

She left with Roland.

The company had prepared an apartment for Marilyn, which was in the Mauve Heights behind the company's building.

Roland sent Marilyn downstairs. He smiled and turned to leave after he saw that the lights in Marilyn's apartment were on.

Marilyn was going to be here for a month. There was also a branch of the Harrison Group here.

He would stay here on business for a month!

He turned back to look at the window on the fifth floor. There was a shadow of a beautiful figure on the window. He turned to leave with a smile.

Marilyn lived on the fifth floor.

The apartment was not big, but it was spacious for her to live alone. She drew the beige curtains slightly.

The seat next to the window was wide and bright. Sitting on the sofa, Marilyn could enjoy the scenery of Fielddell. The whole room was illuminated by the neon light shining through the floor-to-ceiling window.

Standing in front of the window with her hands crossed over her chest, Marilyn looked at the familiar city. Seven years passed.

She couldn't help recalling what had happened that night. An indescribable sharp pain instantly engulfed her entire body.

That night seven years ago was like a nightmare that would never disappear. Scenes clearly appeared in her mind.

It was said that time was a good remedy for pain.

But the pain was still fresh in her heart after seven years.

Every time she felt pain, she found that the pain and the unbearable suffering of that night had already merged into her.

She hoped that she could find her birth parents here.

As a mother, she knew how precious the child was to his mother. Were her parents also looking for her?
