chapter fifty two

POV Katy

"That was too risky!" Gaby commented, pacing back and forth in the room with cold sweat on her hands. "Did you see what she's capable of? You could have died; that woman is crazy!" She said, distraught.

"Gaby..." I called her, gesturing for her to sit beside me on the bed. Once she sat down, I rested my head on her shoulder and whispered, "It's okay, that child's fate was already sealed anyway." I shrugged, not caring.

"Whatever it was, you just hastened things," I added with a tone of indifference.

Gaby looked at me, incredulous. "Don't you have any compassion, Katy? It was your child! He was inside you!"

I sighed, looking up at the ceiling. "He was going to die anyway; he wouldn't have been useful to me anymore." I shrugged again, trying to get up, still feeling strong pains in the lower part of my abdomen. The doctors had performed emergency surgery to drain some of the blood and prevent an infection that could have prevented me from getting pregnant again.

"That's cruel!"
