Elena POV

Soon the palace comes into view, it is the most, beautiful thing I have ever set my eyes on, an old vintage castle, with roses that span the walls of the castle so beautiful that we could see it at night time, although the bright lights settled strategically around the building makes it prettier than something off a photograph.

We walk towards the main entrance the fruit basket blocking my view only following by voices, the sweetest smell, moves into my nose, spelling like the forest after a heavy rainfall, along with the smell of sweet fruits; “citrus” I say out loud, but immediately shut up when we reach the doors, we are greeted by the Alpha family themselves, Caius Blackwood, the alpha, Soraya Blackwood, the Luna, Amara Blackwood, their daughter and Zane Blackwood, the next alpha, that is if he were to find his mate tonight.

I catch a sight of him which ignites something in me, his eyes, golden brown under the lights, his tall lean body wrapped in some cooperate pants and shirt, his tie, sloppily placed to the side, his eyes downcast but meet with mine, his pink lips that look good enough to eat, bites into each other in a caress that I didn’t think I’ll ever catch, but I see it and I feel it, a vibration that starts as a tingle down my spine, and vibrates into my waist, wishing, wanting.

I ignore while I’m being guided towards the quarters, I spare a look at the banquet hall, and ‘’I’ve never seen something so elaborate and extra, before I can enjoy the view, we are whisked away into a room, it’s gray, with 10 pillars joined, forming a circle.

For the first time in years, I’m attending the full moon mates party, but not in the other room with what they feel are the better werewolf’s, no, I’m stuck in a room with others like me, who are probably worse off than me, ‘I have to escape, and fast” I whisper to myself, shaking my head and finding a corner, I can’t tell the time because they are no clocks in the hall, but from all the mating parties I hear my siblings gossip about, there are howls when the clock strike 12oclock and the moon is full.

The only problem I have is the full moon, rouges are at their highest point of aggressiveness during the full moon, I’ll be stronger than what I am yes, but the rouges out there, they will by 5 times my size, better than me at everything, I shake my head, trying to shake off the feeling of fear and dread.

My eyes move around the room, settling on a girl by a pillar, she’s seated on the floor, eyes moving round the room like the last place she wants to be is here, finally her eyes meet with mine and I move towards her, I finally see her features properly, a lump of blonde hair in a bun, bright green eyes, she could be the prettiest girl ‘ve ever laid eyes on, but because she’s an omega, automatically she doesn’t deserve to be called pretty.

“hi” I say leaning on the pillar next to her

“hi” she replies and I take that as a sign that I can sit next to her.

“I’m Elara” I say looking at the blank wall in front of me, as omegas we are not allowed to give out our last names, just first names so I’m shocked when she states her name in full

“I’m Serena Daven” she nods, biting on her lip and twiddling with her thumbs

My eyes move to her wrist, a tattoo signifying another pack, one I’ve never seen before, three wolfs forming a circle with a claw mark drawn right over them.

“that’s not the moonstone pack tattoo” I say remembering the one I have on my back, a tattoo of the moon with a claw mark drawn right over it.

She laughs quite loudly, a snort forming in her throat, tears gathering in her eyes, “maybe I shouldn’t have said anything”

“I’m sorry”, I say watching her cry.

She wipes the tears from her face< ‘’it’s fine”

And yes, she turns to me, “this is not the moonstone pack tattoo, I was kidnapped from a pack a few months back in a siege, I was only there visiting my friend, but I couldn’t escape, now I’m here, serving a family I know nothing about, being humiliated and treated like shit.” She cries, trying hard to wipe away her tears.

I nod, understanding her situation, imagine being dragged from the world you knew, being happy, and suddenly submerged into this darkness, I don’t know how to make her feel better, I’ve been in this situation since birth, being treated like an outcast, so I grab her hand in mine and we sit in silence while she cries.

It takes hours and then I hear it, the loud, crying sound of werewolves finding their mates, a growl almost erupt in my throat.

“wait what does that mean?” I immediately forget the thought, I mean, me? a mate here? But the smell, that smell of a rainy day in the forest, something I’ve definitely never smelt before, it smells sweet, like a sliced orange, I follow the smell, forgetting serena completely, but she doesn’t mind me as she’s still stuck in her thoughts, pushing the door quietly, escaping the hall, I take my left, knowing the party is on the right, the smell follow that way, but I know my goal is bigger than that, I have to escape, even if it means leaving my mate behind.

Quickly walking into the dark hallway, I hear footsteps behind me, fast steps, my eyes move around the dark and spot the double dark doors, quickly pulling the door open, I shut the door, finding myself in a dark balcony, the circular balcony has a couch on the side, roses wrapped around each other and green leaves curl around the stones that make up the balcony, darkness completely entrap me and hide behind the couch, shedding myself with the satchel.

The doors open and I almost gasp, how did the person know I was entering this exact balcony, I look up, not catching the features of the figure, but glowing brown eyes move towards me, glowing so bright in the dark.

The citrus smell, it draws nearer, and I feel a tingle I’ve never felt before, my arms, my legs, my spine, my breast, my abdomen and then my pussy, a word I didn’t even know could mean so much, could tingle so much, I can’t control myself when I stand up, those eyes, heightened, commanding, they leave a fresh set of wetness in between my thighs.

“Mate” he says, his voice deep and dark, it sends a vibration through me, one I’ve never felt before

"Mate” I say as he reaches me, standing hot and erect before me, my voice is like a purr, almost begging, “Take me”, I say unexpectedly.

Because the truth is, I almost didn’t.I almost told him to leave, twice and both times… I couldn’t do it.Instead, I squeeze his hand. Just once.He closes his eyes again like he’s storing that single moment somewhere sacred. Like he thinks it means more than I’m willing to admit. The morning is unusual

And through it all, one shape stood still.A man in a skull mask.Watching meMy hand flies to the pendant resting against my collarbone. It’s still warm. The magic hasn’t faded. ELARA POVPredator Territory — MorningI wake with the phantom feel of his lips still lingering on mine.Zane is gone. The room is empty. But his presence clings to the air like smoke. On my skin. In my lungs. It’s maddening, how something so soft, so quiet, can unravel me more than a thousand scars ever could.I lift my fingers to my mouth, brushing over the skin he kissed. Last night wasn’t just a kiss. It wasn’t lust. It wasn’t comfort. It was a surrender, a warning and a promise, and I’m not sure which one of those frightens me more.…The high hall is quieter than usual when I sit across from Amber at the long stone table. The morning sun filters in through the carved arches, catching the edges of the tapestries. She has a scroll open in front of her, her tea steaming, her eyes scanning me more than the words.Fresh bread. Dried meats. Mint and elderflower in my cup.None of it touches the strange heaviness in my chest.“You’re distracted,” she says plainly.“I slept fine.” I rea

Not because of unease. But because for the first time in weeks, I don’t want to forget the way tonight felt. The quietness in the ring. The way his voice broke when he said he missed us. The look in his eyes when he realized I wasn’t turning away. The way his hand hovered near my cheek like I was something sacred. Something lost and found all at once.I’m still wrapped in the weight of it when a soft knock lands at my door.Three taps.Light and careful but I already know it’s him.I sit up slowly. My fingers tighten on the edge of the blanket.I don’t owe him anything. Not tonight. Not anymore. But still… I open the door.Zane stands there, holding a mug in both hands. His shirt is clean, though wrinkled and loose like he grabbed it in a rush. There’s a faint line creased along his cheek from the couch cushion.
