Chapter 4

Author: You to You
Gemma snapped, "Who the hell do you think you are? You're nothing but a woman who used cheap tricks to climb your way up—"

"I used cheap tricks?" I interrupted.

I then raised my voice and shot daggers at everyone in the room. "I've done nothing to be ashamed of! Meanwhile, the lot of you have allowed scum like her to make lewd remarks about the bride in her own bedroom. Is this how your noble household conducts itself?"

The room descended into total pandemonium.

Several came forward to break up the fight, while others accused me of going too far. Gemma, on the other hand, wailed at the top of her lungs and threw a fit.

"Morgiana, what on earth are you doing?" Kenneth wove through the crowd when he heard the commotion.

His face was ghastly pale as he seized my wrist. He lowered his voice and chided, "Can you stop making a scene in front of all my relatives? Aunt Gemma has had too much to drink. I'll ask her to apologize to you!"

"Apologize to me?" I sneered, looking at him. The cold, disdainful, calculating face he had shown me in my previous life flashed through my mind.

I yanked my hand out of his grasp. "So this is how your family sees me? I've just married into your family, and I'm already being dragged through the mud. How am I supposed to live like this?"

As the wedding descended into chaos, Kenneth's parents, Sam Sterling and Margaret Sterling, hurried over to defuse the tension.

Gemma glared at me with bloodshot eyes and jeered. "That's easy for you to say. If you've got the guts, why don't you just divorce him then? Let's see if you're really willing to give him up!"

Divorce him? That would be far too easy on them.

If I simply left, I'd be doing my past self a disservice. The suffering I'd endured, the tears I'd shed, and the child I'd lost... I was going to make them pay for it all with my own eyes!

Sam and Margaret dismissed the guests. Whispering among themselves, the crowd dispersed until only the Sterlings and a few relatives remained.

Still, the atmosphere had plummeted to absolute zero.

Margaret immediately walked up to me with a stern expression. "Morgiana, I don't mean to criticize you, but what on earth possessed you just now? It's your wedding day. How could you slap someone in front of so many relatives?"

Sam stood beside her and chimed in with an equally stern face. "We're a family that values tradition and etiquette. The first thing a new bride needs to learn when she joins our family is to know her place.

"After what you did, you must apologize to Gemma and kneel before the cross for an entire night to reflect on your actions!"

He wanted me to get on my knees? I let out a derisive chuckle. "Kneel, my ass!"

Margaret's expression instantly changed, and she instantly flew off the handle. "What did you just say?"

I wasn't wrong, though. I blinked, feigning innocence. "Am I wrong? Didn't you ask me to kneel before the cross? What, do you not have it in your back room?"

Her face turned beet red, but she was so furious that she couldn't utter a single word.

I curled my lips into a smirk and continued, "I'm not worthy of kneeling before God. However, when you and Sam kick the bucket, I'll happily get on my knees."

What could I say? I was a dutiful daughter-in-law. I wouldn't bend my knees for anyone but Sam and Margaret.

The moment the words left my mouth, her expression hardened, and she jabbed her finger in my face. "How dare you talk to me like that? Have you lost your mind? Look at the wonderful wife you've married, Kenneth!"

Kenneth looked troubled as he was caught in the middle. He looked at me. "You've gone too far, Morgiana."

Then, he turned to Margaret. "Mom, Dad... Morg was wronged today."

"She was wronged?" Margaret raised her voice. "I think she needs to be taught a lesson. Like it or not, you're going to the back room today!"

Having said her piece, she reached out to grab me.

The instant her hand came toward me, I swung my arm, sweeping several coffee mugs off the table beside me. The sound of shattering glass was excruciatingly harsh on the ears as shards of glass flew everywhere.

The very next second, a little girl cried out. I whipped my head around and spotted little Kendall. I had no idea when she'd hidden in the corner.

A stray shard of glass had grazed her arm, and tiny beads of blood were beginning to seep from the wound. Kendall immediately burst into loud, heart-wrenching sobs.

Kenneth actually had the nerve to ask me for the money he'd invested back. I almost laughed out loud. I slapped him hard across the face. "Here, have a slap instead!" His world came crashing down around him, and he was so furious that he fainted on the spot. My life, on the other hand, was only just beginning. …Things were far from over, though. As soon as she learned the news, Margaret rushed to the hospital. She took one look at her son and realized his manhood was missing. Her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, and with a shrill shriek, she set off to seek revenge on Roxana. Unfortunately, she was just an old hag with little strength. In the end, she got beaten black and blue. Her head was so swollen that it looked like a pumpkin. Margaret returned to the hospital in tears to see Kenneth. Her ears were filled with the chatter of the medical staff. "Morgiana really drew the short straw marrying into that family." "Kenneth looks like a decent man on the outsid

I accepted them. My fingers trembled slightly with excitement. Kenneth's money was finally in my hands. This time, I was genuinely thrilled. However, I wore a devastated look on the surface. I sneered inwardly, took a deep breath, and forced myself to calm down. My voice was choked with emotion. "G-Get up first. Stop humiliating yourself in public..."He looked as though he'd been granted a reprieve and hurriedly scrambled to his feet. I turned my back on him and our neighbors and sniffled. "Let's talk after I calm down." Right after saying that, I clutched the stack of cards, walked back into my bedroom, and shut the door. The moment the door clicked shut, all the sorrow vanished from my face, and my eyes lit up. My first step was a total success. Now, it was time to make that shameless couple pay an even steeper price. …After getting my hands on his money, I pretended to forgive Kenneth, albeit reluctantly, while secretly setting my plan in motion. I knew him all

My hands and feet turned ice-cold, and hatred surged in my eyes. I wanted nothing more than to rush over and kill Kenneth and Roxana. But I couldn't do that just yet. I didn't emerge from my hiding spot until they had left in post-coital bliss. The air still reeked of their revolting rendezvous. After getting into the car, I created an alt account without a moment's hesitation. I clipped the most explicit part of the video and posted it online. The video had been censored to cover their explicit parts, so it didn't qualify as the distribution of pornography. It spread like wildfire. I sat in the car, watching the group chat notifications and repost alerts pop up one after another on my phone. I felt perfectly calm. Wasn't Kenneth so sure I'd always forgive him? Now, it was time for everyone to see what kind of lowlifes he and his beloved really were! …In less than an hour, the video had gone viral. I timed it just right and beat them home. I rushed into my bedroom, locked

Roxana had probably been pestering Kenneth relentlessly in the last few days. Three days later, when I brought up the deal again, his attitude had softened considerably. "Here, take this." He handed me a card. "Be extremely careful," he reminded me sternly."Don't worry." I accepted it with a sweet smile. "I won't let you down." The moment I stepped out of the house, the smile on my face instantly vanished. I'd won this first round. However, the real battle had only just begun. …After getting my hands on the money, I pretended to be busy setting up the business on the surface while secretly keeping a close eye on Kenneth's every move. He went to Roxana's place more and more frequently. His excuses were always the same—meeting clients. It was laughably clumsy. One evening, he told me he had a business dinner on the outskirts of the city. I had installed a mini tracker on his car beforehand, and I watched it stop next to a wetland park three miles from the golf course. I

"Absolutely." I inched closer to Kenneth and lowered my voice. "Briar told me it's a pretty big shipment, and we have to pay the full amount upfront within the next couple of days. If we can buy the whole lot, we can make at least 150 grand by reselling it." 150 grand was no small amount. Kenneth leaned back into the cushions. "It sounds like a good deal, but we don't have that much cash on hand right now." "I know." I took his hand. "So I was thinking… why don't we ask Mr. Fern to return the money we lent him? This deal is practically guaranteed to make a profit. We can pay him back as soon as we wrap it up. We can even give him an extra 20 grand as interest."His fingers twitched slightly before he casually withdrew his hand and picked up his glass to take a sip. "Mr. Fern's cash flow still hasn't recovered. It wouldn't be right for us to ask him for our money back now." I sneered inwardly. It wouldn't be appropriate, my ass. He hadn't lent Mr. Fern money at all. He'd used it

By the time I drove near the wildlife park, I could already see from afar that the rescue operation had ended. The ambulances and park management vehicles had their flashing lights on. Sam and Margaret were being helped to their feet. Their faces were pale, and they looked visibly shaken. Kendall's hair was a mess, and her eyes were red and puffy. A large chunk of her hair had been ripped out by an animal, leaving her with a bald patch. I parked my car and strutted over in my high heels. I plastered a worried look on my face. "Sam, Margaret, Kendall, are you alright? You guys almost gave me a heart attack! I rushed over as soon as I received your call, but traffic was terrible."I stepped forward and reached out to support Margaret. Kenneth marched toward me, veins bulging on his forehead. He seized my wrist so tightly that my bones ached. "Where the hell were you earlier, Morgiana Brooks? Why didn't you answer any of my calls? Do you have any idea how close Mom, Dad, and Ke
