Chapter Forty-Three

We met Liam in the dining room where he was helping Rebecca clean up the mess from the gathering. He was no stranger to housework and I was proud to have a man in my life who was not afraid to submerge his hands in dishwater if need be. It was the little things, what can I say? Maddie appears to be more at ease around him now.

“You look like you are feeling better Madeline. My lovely wife tends to have that effect on people.”

She returned his smile with one of her own and replied with, “Her kindness is unmatched.”

Great now I just feel awkward while they talk about me as if I’m not standing right here.

“Did Rebecca get you something to eat?”

Satisfied when she nodded, I looked to Liam. “You wanna join us, I’m giving her a tour and even I don’t know where everything is?”

“Sure, I’d be happy to,” turning to Rebecca, “You ok with the rest of this?
