CONVERSATION BETWEEN KAI AND BASTIEN

Bastien: “Kai, my old friend!”

Kai: “Cut the crap, Bastien. Tell me why you took Nikolai’s mate and what you want in return.”

Bastien: -sighs- “I don’t know why you feel the need to be hostile, don’t you realise what I am holding in my hands right now?”

Kai: “Get to what you want and get it over with.”

Bastien: -chuckles- “I want what has always been mine, Kai; I want my mate.”

Kai: -scoffs- “Are you still lusting after Lilith when you know she’s my brother’s mate? You’re sick, Bastien.”

Bastien: “Lilith? As in Lilith Vega? Why would I be lusting after her?”

Kai: “You told her to kill her children and join you a few years ago, don’t tell me you don’t remember this conversation?”

Bastien: “Ah, that. I simply gave her the advice my mother gave me. No one wanted the demonic offspring to be born, Kai, that thing is an evil incarnate and will bring darkness to your entire pack.”

Kai: “And it has been sealed. Stop going off-topic and tell me why Nova was taken.”

Bastien: -sighs again, then his voice gets lower- “It was the only way to get your attention.”

Kai: “You declared war on three of the largest packs in the entire country, Bastien, you’ve got my attention alright.”

Bastien: “You see that… was a mistake.”

Kai: -a low growl- “A mistake? You do not declare war by mistake!”

Bastien: “Yes, but I needed… I needed to do that. -clears throat- He made me do it.”

Kai: -stays quiet for a few seconds- “He? Who exactly could force one of the Five Alphas to declare war when we have all been living in peace for generations?!”

Bastien: “Your father, Daniil Volkov.”

Kai: -lets out a long sigh- “Of course it’s him, we knew that long ago. But how exactly did he get you to do this? You have an entire army willing to die for you and you have killed thousands; who and what could make you fold so easily.”

Bastien: “My mate and firstborn son; he has them encased in crystal barely hanging onto life and has promised to release them once you’re dead. I had to protect my own, Kai, I had to think of my kin.”

Kai: “Well, that’s truly unexpected. But I still do not understand why you needed my attention by kidnapping Nova; surely a phone call would have sufficed?”

Bastien: “I don’t trust anyone except the one warrior at my side and I needed to make it look like I will be attacking your family from the inside. This had to play out the way I planned it, Kai, I needed to speak with you no matter what.”

Kai: “You have my attention; I’m listening.”

Bastien: “Thank you.” -sighs- “Your father has a base just bordering Canada in Minnesota. He has a pack full of Lycans under his control and uses them as he sees fit, he also has a witch named Mila. A powerful bitch who my mother knows and seems to worship. They will strike your packs in Iowa and conclude the war in Florida, this will happen over the course of the next three weeks.”

Kai: “Why are you telling me this?”

Bastien: “Because I need your help to get my mate and son back, Kai. I do not want this war and neither does my sister, Azura. He’s forced her the same way he’s done with me, the only difference is he’s killed her mate and threatens her child.”

Kai: “Don’t the Maidens mate every few years, though? Why is she so attached to her mate when I know the Maidens do not keep mates?”

Bastien: -chuckles sadly- “Because my sister has been barren; none of her mating partners has been able to impregnate her. Thomas was the only one and now she has her miracle child. I am sure you understand why she has done this, Kai, she has no choice as she is the future of her pack.”

Kai: “Hmmm, I understand. How would you like this to play out?”

Bastien: “Find my cabin; I will forward you the coordinates. Pretend you’re laying siege and capture me. Then I would like for your Luna to lay her hands on me so you can see I am not lying. I’ll be waiting, Alpha Kai.”
