ConallI rarely come to events like this but have to admit I’m enjoying myself. Seeing Willow, my baby girl looking so lovely in her dress, all dolled up, laughing and smiling and having a good time after all the drama and intense revelations of the last few months is refreshing.I like that Zale is playing with her this way, pranked her by showing up here tonight without her knowing, while still giving her the space to enjoy herself with Finn. Servers are walking around the room with wine and champagne glasses and canapés. Finn grabs a champagne glass for each of us and then leads me over to where his patrol partner Gregory and his wife Jennifer are standing. We get comfortable catching up with each other, I normally hang out with Jennifer at these events, she’s fun and unpretentious so we get on famously. I see that dark head in my periphery a few times, but it disappears every time I turn to look.Jennifer is sharing the latest photos of her kids with me when that mouthwatering hint of caramel and citrus hits my nose again and I attempt to casually glance around the room before they disappear again. I finally see the back of that dark head; it’s moving across the room. I know the back of that head.Is that Zale?No.I’m imagining it, he can’t be here.Surely there must be other extremely tall, well-built men in the city.There are so many people moving around the room, in between us that I think I’m now starting to see him
