Hazel's POV

“What!” I could not contain my surprise. “WHAT!” my rage steamed hot in me. I stood fixated and petrified. What was going on? Liam had finally done it. He had stripped me of the position of Luna and by doing so, reduced me to whatever irrelevant position I had held before, a fall from grace to below the grass.

Alessandra turned to me, flashed a mock smile and winked. My fist curled in a ball and if given the chance, only the moon goddess herself would be able to put an end to the torture I would put that husband snatching fool through.

Soon the whisper started; From the mouth of one or two, I heard my name. Everyone was saying something. Certain keywords were easy to pick out and those words sent a dagger through my heart and rounded itself in a circle, attempting to carve out my heart.

“Liam! Liam, no. What are you doing?” I ran over to him and dragged him by his shoulder. “Don’t do this, Liam. DON’T! I am your wife!”

“Ex as it seems to be now.” Someone from the crowd made a joke sending the whole place to a burst of laughter.

Alessandra turned towards me, blew a kiss and gave another wink. That would be the last time she would ever use those eyes; I vowed in my heart. In a swift move, I snatched a bottle from one of the tables and rushed towards Alessandra. But I could only get as far as two steps when I was obstructed and seized by three of Liam’s guards. They tussled with me and flung me to the side without any regards. As for Liam, he just walked off, acting as if I was not even there. His silence spoke and sent more meaning than his words were ever going to send.

I was amazed at the fact that he could be so placid and wicked. I heard jeers and laughter as I got up to my feet, arranging my dress. I turned on my heels and walked away from the party, devastated that I had lost my home to Alessandra.

Outside was cold and the breeze clung to my skin and blew past, sending shivers down my body. The cold once excited me, but in the situation I was in now, I could not help but feel as if nature was after my downfall. What was supposed to be a usual night soft breeze, began to feel like a below zero degrees cold.

I walked to a silent spot in the street to take out a tissue from my bag to wipe my eyes. I had promised myself that I was never going to shed tears in front of Liam. There was no way I would allow him to see my pain. I would rather suck it up and have it kill me from within than showing my weaknesses.

I wiped my eyes with my napkin, smearing a little bit of makeup all over my cheeks unknowingly to me. I watched as a young couple exited the building, talking and laughing. The girl leaned on the guy as she giggled. It was only going to be a matter of time before they start planning a wedding and after a few years, he’ll make the bold decision to break her heart. I silently cursed Liam, him and every other guy that walked the earth.

The couple turned and began to head towards me. I could not let them spot me. Not after what had happened. I pulled myself up and made my move to avoid contact with anybody. If there was anything I was going to do tonight, It was drinking a lot of alcohol to forget my pain.

The doors of the bar swung open and I made my way to the counter. I sat and placed my head on the desk.

“What would you like to have tonight?” the bartender asked, tapping my head just so lightly. I raised my head and looked up. My eyes were blurry with tears so much that I could only make out the outline of the face of the bartender as he spoke to me. “A heartbreak, isn’t it? We have just the thing.”

He went back to his work and took out a bottle from under the counter and another from the top shelf. He began mixing them both in a new bottle. When he was done, he moved towards me and put it on the table alongside a cup, sliding them both towards me.

“Drink up,” he said.

I took the bottle and ignored the cup and in the blink of an eye, the bottle was upside-down and its contents emptying down my throat. The tingling feeling of getting drunk filled my head and dissipated little by little to all other parts of my body until it got to my fingers. Then I passed out.

The sound of the city bustling with its normal activities woke me up. Horns of cars, buses and trucks, as well as the shout of pedestrians trying to make it to work invaded the room through the window. I stood up, looking around the room in shock. The place was not one I was familiar with.

This was not my room.

I held on to my stomach and ran my hand across my body and even between my legs to check if any damage had befallen me. I prayed a silent prayer for my unborn child and Ihoped the drink did not affect him. Perhaps the bartender had brought me to a room because I was drunk.

When I returned home, Liam was chatting away happily with his new Luna. As soon as he saw me, he raised his brow in question, “Where have you been?” he asked, his gaze cold and frightening.

I clenched my jaw, still pained from what I experienced last night, “Am I not free to step out anymore?”

“Hazel, did you really have to do it? I should have known you were a slut ”

“A slut?”

Liam tossed some files at me, “The divorce papers,” he announced. “Sign it and leave.”

Hazel's POVLiam had painted a world of forever in my eyes, but in a single day, he destroyed our world and tore it apart. I gazed at the reflection of myself and the broken, imperfect figure stared back at me with her tear rimmed eyes. Pale skin, raven dark hair and sunken eyes—I looked like a living dead. No, I am a living dead. A part of me died when Liam announced his wedding with Alessandra. It shattered my soul completely, leaving me battered, broken and hopeless. My gaze shifted, landing on the white Invitation card with a blue seal at the front. The tips were decorated with golden flowers, elegant and fascinating at the same time. It reminded me of my mating ceremony with Liam, and my heart clenched, a suffocating feeling in my chest. The celebration of the full moon was an annual ceremony, and as Luna, it was my duty to attend alongside Liam even though our union was dying. We both knew the truth, but Liam was hell-bent on keeping it as a secret from the elders. I reached f

Hazel's POVLiam's statement had my insides quivering as this sudden dizziness kicked in. A divorce? Liam had never brought that up before. First it was his gloomy attitude, and now, this? I pressed my lips together and forced a smile on my lips, “Liam, I understand that you're not in the best—”“I'm serious, Hazel” Liam's voice rang out, cutting me halfway. He tucked his hands in his pocket and raised his head to stare at me, “Hazel, let's get a divorce.” his voice was hard, stern like he had been practicing this for a while. My breath hitched as my heart pounded against my ribcage. “This has to be a joke” there was no sympathy, warmth, or love in his eyes. He was just like a stone. cold. sculpture. I stared at him for a while, hoping he would reach out for me and tell me it was all a joke, but his piercing gaze shattered all the hope I had left. I took a few steps backwards and shook my head, “We can fix this. We don't have to get a divorce. We're fighters, right?” During our first

Hazel's POVThe doctor’s words still rang in my ears as I took a slow drive home. The golden ray of the sun casted a warm glow on the trees and grasses, giving it a touch of serenity and warmth; maybe it was just me, but the scenery outside was beautiful and soothing at the same time. Old women were out, dragging a dolly for their groceries and students chatted among themselves, their mischief filled voices bringing a wide smile to my lips. When I was a child, I’d walk across the same streets, whining and fussing over the hottest boy in class, but now, the most charming man in my life is Liam. I tucked a few strands of my hair behind my ears and stepped on the accelerator, eager to tell my husband the news, the good news we'd been expecting for a while.Liam and I have been married for two years, but even as the years progressed, our love became stronger and stronger. I can't really tell if it's because we're mates, but I can't think of a better husband than Liam. Being pregnant for
