Chapter 98

Author: Winter Holly
Vivian had no choice but to stop.

Julian smiled and asked, "Where were you going?"

She was clearly upset.

With a hint of irritation in her voice, Vivian snapped, "Were you trying to imply something just now? What do you mean by ‘you wore me out last night'? We were out socializing, that's all. The way you said it made it sound like something happened between us!"

Her temper flared out of nowhere, and she didn't even stop to question where the anger was coming from.

Julian looked at her, stunned. "Even if what I said carried some implications, so what? We're engaged. Being intimate is perfectly normal."

He lowered his eyes and added, almost pitifully, "Or, perhaps… you don't want Logan to get the wrong idea?"

Vivian opened her mouth, but no words came out.

Julian stared at her, his mood souring by the second.

"So that's what's bothering you?"

It took Vivian a long moment to collect herself. A strange tightness gripped her chest.

What was wrong with her?

Vivian's gaze turned cold, her lips parting as if the words were difficult to say. Julian stared at her, his lips tightly pressed together, looking pitiful and wounded, but he didn't back down. After a long moment, Vivian finally closed her eyes. "So what if I posted your dating profile online?" she said through gritted teeth. "I just can't stand the thought of someone like you—a divorced man, someone who used to be my pathetic little lapdog—ending up with someone like Miss Miller. "You belong with some divorced woman, barely scraping by. Don't even think about climbing the social ladder again by marrying rich. You're not worthy." As the words left her mouth, a sheen of cold sweat broke out on her palms. Logan's grip tightened around his phone. He couldn't believe what he'd just heard. That Vivian—of all people—could say something so cruel. He clenched his jaw. "Vivian, you know better than anyone why I married you. First, for my mother's illness. Second, because I genuin

The hotel staff made a polite gesture, inviting him to follow. Logan gave a slight nod and followed him downstairs. As soon as he reached the lobby, he spotted a slender, attractive woman waiting by the entrance. The moment she saw him, her eyes lit up, and she walked over quickly, her excitement barely concealed. "You must be Mr. Phillips?" she asked, her voice laced with anticipation and surprise. "You're even more handsome in person than in your photos." Logan was baffled. "I'm sorry… do I know you?" He stared at her, completely lost. He had no recollection of ever meeting this woman before. The woman bit her lip shyly, then launched into a self-introduction. "My name is Cassidy Flores. I'm twenty-seven, divorced but without children. I currently work in civil engineering and earn about four thousand a month. What do you think?" Logan blinked, stunned, unable to process what was happening. His voice dropped, puzzled and wary. "What… are you doing? I'm not conducting

Logan couldn't bring himself to say anything harsh when faced with Vivian crying like that. Logan pulled his arm free from her grasp, turned around, opened the car door, and left without looking back. Inside the car, Vivian sat silently, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Her lips were slightly swollen from the kiss, and her gaze grew increasingly complicated. … Later that night, after Logan returned home, Henry called again to ask about what had happened between him and his daughter at the birthday banquet. Logan made his stance clear: his relationship with Vivian was firmly in the past, and as for Sophie, he had no intention of pursuing anything further. He hoped Mr. Miller would understand. Henry, though disappointed, respected his decision. After all, Logan had just finalized a divorce. It was unrealistic to expect him to immediately start another relationship. Soon after the call, the Miller family issued a formal statement. It clarified that the video taken

Logan felt suffocated. What had he done to deserve this? He was already divorced from Vivian, and yet she still refused to let him go. Again and again, she used underhanded threats—now even dragging his mother into it, treating her like a bargaining chip to force him into submission. A bitter laugh slipped from his lips as he turned to Vivian, eyes frosted with disdain. "Your reaction to me being with Sophie is awfully intense. Don't tell me... you're jealous? Do you have feelings for me?" Vivian froze, then immediately snapped, "Shut up! Why would I like you? You—" Before she could finish, Logan cut in. "If you don't like me, why do you care who I'm with?" Vivian stared at him, momentarily speechless. Logan arched a brow. "Or are you just too stubborn to admit it?" With a sudden motion, he yanked her toward him, gripping her chin. Seeing her dazed and flustered expression only made his anger rise. She rejected him—pushed him away again and again—but still refused t

Vivian froze when she heard that. Her expression shifted, lips pressing into a tight line. "If you already know all that, then stay away from his daughter. You won't even know what hit you when they use you as a pawn." Logan's voice was cool. "Let me say this again. I know far better than you how to weigh the pros and cons. I can make my own decisions. I don't need your concern." Vivian's grip on the steering wheel tightened as she clenched her jaw. "If you've got this much energy, you'd be better off focusing on running the Brooks Corporation properly instead of barging into Sophie's birthday party and making a scene for no reason." As soon as Logan finished, he reached for the car door. But Vivian suddenly let out a sharp laugh. "I made a scene? I brought her a gift and behaved with basic courtesy. How exactly did I make a scene? You, on the other hand, have been defending her at every turn. Are you seriously thinking about being with her?" She lashed out in anger, shov
