Chapter 194

Valerie Will

~•~

I was so relieved when Patrick suggested that I go back home. Things were awkward between us but I didn’t just want to stand up and leave.

It was clear that Patrick was already suspecting me and I didn’t want him to get any more ideas.

I let my emotions get the best of me and snapped at him when he was just asking harmless questions.

But even if I tried, I couldn’t stop myself from reacting that way. I still felt guilty about everything I did.

After I went to my car, the air finally became lighter, and a relieved breath I had no idea I had been holding escaped my lips.

As I drove back to the house, my phone rang continuously. I was tired of ignoring Damien, maybe if I just answered and told him never to contact me again, he would stop calling me.

Letting out a deep sigh, I answered the call and put it on speaker because I still had to focus on the road.

“Why do you keep calling me?” The irritation was palpable in my voice. Ever since I asked him to l

Chapter 221Valerie Will ~•~I heard a soft knock on my door. Before I could even get up from the bed, a voice followed. “Mama.” My heart leaped for joy when I realized it was Liam. Patrick had finally brought them. I felt so relieved. I tried calling his number a million times the other night but his phone was unreachable. I was scared and restless, I couldn’t even get any sleep. I stood up from the bed and answered the door immediately. When I saw Liam standing outside, I pulled him into a warm embrace. “Oh, my goodness, you’re safe,” I murmured on his shoulders. “How are you doing? Where is Noah?” Liam stared at me for a long second after we broke the hug. “Why did they take us?” He asked, his voice almost cracking. I swallowed hard, pulling him into another hug. “I don’t know baby, they just wanted money or something.” My heart ached as I lied to my baby but I couldn’t tell him the truth. “Will they take us again?” Liam asked, his voice masked with fear. I shook my head

Chapter 220Patrick Banks~•~I didn’t call Jordan back immediately. I just let out a deep sigh and dropped my phone. Then I started the car and drove back to the house. Throughout the ride, I couldn’t stop thinking about Jordan’s texts. Did Lisa really release a press statement about us? But it wasn’t even up to twenty-four hours yet. When we were halfway home, it was then that I realized that I had even forgotten to call Valerie to tell her that we were on our way back home. I didn’t bother calling her anymore, we would see each other at home. A few minutes later, we arrived at the house. The kids ran into the house while I stayed back in the car. I reached out for my phone and dialed Jordan’s number. It rang a few times, but he didn’t respond. Letting out a low groan, I decided to go online and check what the news was on my own. I wasn’t prepared for what I saw next. Lisa was dead! How? My stomach dropped. How the hell did it happen? That wasn’t good. It didn’t look g

Chapter 219Patrick Banks~•~After my conversation with my mother, she asked me to leave the room. I still wasn’t sure if she believed me or not. But a few minutes later, she called me back. “I’ll send my driver to pick up the kids from Lisa in the morning.” A sense of relief washed over me. I had no idea what she said to Lisa but I was grateful that she was releasing the kids. I was even tempted to ask my mother to tell Lisa that she should stop whatever she was planning. But I didn’t want to push my luck. And it would just make me look guilty. “Thank you, but is Lisa in New York?” I asked curiously. My mother didn’t answer. “You’ll see your kids in the morning.” She said, her voice faint. “You can sleep in one of the guest rooms, it’s too late and I don’t want you driving at night.” I wasn’t even planning on leaving the house that night when I just found out she was sick. “Okay.” I nodded before turning around to leave. But I paused when I got to the door. “Are we good n

Chapter 218Valerie Will ~•~“What do you mean you can’t bring the kids back home tonight?” I demanded, my voice rising in anger. “Patrick, are you out of your mind?” “Valerie, calm down.” He said with a frustrated sigh. “I tried my best. She refused to give them to me. What did you expect me to do?” I scoffed. “I don’t know. She’s your family member, find a way to deal with her.” I said, my patience was wearing thin. “You promised me you were going to bring them back.” “I didn’t make any promises, Valerie.” I rolled my eyes. How was he so comfortable with the boys being away? The thought of them being with Lisa made my skin crawl. Who knows what she was even doing to them? I wouldn’t be able to get an ounce of sleep if he didn’t bring them back. “I asked you for her number and you refused, you said you would take care of it,” I replied through gritted teeth. Patrick let out a deep exhale. “Valerie, she wants us to confess about that night.” He continued, his voice quiet. M

Chapter 217Patrick Banks ~•~I let out a deep breath, bracing myself for what she was about to say. “I’m listening, tell me.” I swallowed hard. There was a pause. Then she let out a sigh. “I want you to go to the media…I don’t know, whatever. You have to confess to everyone about what you did that day.” She said, her tone serious. “You and Valerie.” My heart skipped a beat. Did she know about it? Did Benjamin tell her about everything? “What?” A low gasp escaped my lips. “What are you talking about?” I asked, feigning ignorance. I had no idea what she knew, but I couldn’t take any chances by acknowledging that Valerie and I actually did something. “Oh, please.” She responded with a dry scoff. “And while you’re at it, I would also like you to confess to the fact that you also got Benjamin killed.” I couldn’t hold back a laugh. “You’re being ridiculous right now, Lisa,” I said, my tone sharp. “Valerie and I didn’t do anything. And I most certainly didn’t get my brother kill

Chapter 216Patrick Banks ~•~“Why didn’t anybody tell me she was sick?” I yelled as I walked up the stairs. The housekeeper trailed behind me. “She specifically told us to keep it away from you.” She replied, her voice low. Wow. I couldn’t believe what was happening. Did she hate me that much? Apparently, my mother had been seriously sick for a few weeks. And she didn’t care to tell me about it. Nobody cared to tell me about it. The housekeeper was even skeptical about letting me go upstairs at first, she was scared that my mother would be upset. I had to threaten her before she eventually stepped out of the way. When I got to my mother’s room, I didn’t even bother to knock on the door, I just pushed the door open. Fortunately enough, she was awake. When she saw me, she had a puzzled expression on her face. “Who let you inside? Who even let you up here?” She asked, her voice faint. “I’ll make sure they get fired.” I held back a scoff. “Nobody is getting fired, Mom,” I sai
