Alex's POV

Without another word, I pushed through the crowd, forcing my way towards the entrance.

She's out there. She's out there on the street all alone. And worse still, on the night of Le Bal des Étoiles—dressed in beauty on the surface, but underneath wore something ugly.

My mind was so occupied with these thoughts, that I couldn't hear Eric screaming my name again. Maybe he had stopped or I was just too far now to hear a thing.

I got to the front door, panting. It's okay if she's upset,

  • Divorce? Just Not Yet Darling!   He Knows My Name?

Alex's POV Without another word, I pushed through the crowd, forcing my way towards the entrance. She's out there. She's out there on the street all alone. And worse still, on the night of Le Bal des Étoiles—dressed in beauty on the surface, but underneath wore something ugly.My mind was so occupied with these thoughts, that I couldn't hear Eric screaming my name again. Maybe he had stopped or I was just too far now to hear a thing. I got to the front door, panting. It's okay if she's upset, if she's mad at me because I know she will. But I hope she is out here instead, trying to get some space, some air, to think or something. The entrance was close to empty, ggiven that Le Bal des Étoiles was in full swing and most of the guests were inside. Only a few singles had withdrawn from the celebration for profitable mingling, discussing with their glasses of wine in hand, their laughter breaking the silence at intervals like background melody. My mind was so occupied with these thoughts

  • Divorce? Just Not Yet Darling!   She's Gone

Alex's POV "Nonsense!", Dragos uttered in opposition, clearly pissed as he returned to the art before him, pretending to distract himself. I'm sure right now he barely noticed the dark strokes on the massive oil painting that once delighted him. Neither did he notice his chest heaving like he had run a marathon, because his mind was lost in my words. "That is dangerous," he warned again, sparing a glance over his shoulder. "You think it just wears off? It doesn't always. That compound affects the brain, the very thing that makes her who she is. Some people wake up, but they're not the same. They lose parts of themselves. And you're willing to risk that on someone you claim to be your wife?" It hit me, strongly. Even though I knew I was being a coward now, and common sense was shamelessly finding its way back, the word 'claim' sounded too wrong in my ears. It felt like waking up from a dream where I was drowning in the depths of a spell. I blinked. "It's not a claim, uncle. Bella i

  • Divorce? Just Not Yet Darling!   The Sting Of Betrayal 2

Bella's POV A broken sound slipped past my lips, barely audible even to myself. My fingers trembled violently as I pressed my palm against the cold wall beside me, needing something-anything at all, to hold me up.This wasn't real. It couldn't be. Alex wouldn't...he wouldn't do that to me. Right? My mind raced, scrambling for something to hold onto. Something solid. Something that would still make sense to me in this void..... The way he looked at me, the way he reassured me he was going to stand by me through all of this, the way he held my hand earlier tonight, the way he almost...... he almost kissed me. Was that all a lie? A sharp sting burned behind my eyes, and I blinked rapidly, fighting the tears from falling. My legs felt weak beneath me, but I forced myself to move, taking slow, careful steps backwards, as though even the sound of my breathing might give me away."No... no". I fought to prove my ears wrong but he won't stop talking. He won't stop sending those daggers of

  • Divorce? Just Not Yet Darling!   The Sting Of Betrayal

Bella's POV Cheers filled the room, everyone beaming with smiles, glasses clinking from across tables, couples and friends laughing to their hearts' content, lost somewhere in their own world of excitement... like I was with Eric. Uncle Dragos didn't mince words when he called him a chatterbox. All evening seemed alive with Eric -every story spiraling into another, every sentence laced with tiny, almost insignificant details that somehow made everything twice as amusing. I found myself laughing louder than I should, forgetting decorum, forgetting where I was, forgetting everything and simply enjoying the ease of the moment. It was all about stories of his wild and reckless escapades from his teenage years with Alex. From the way he said it, Alex had been nothing short of a menace growing up— fearless, and impulsive, the kind of boy who flirted with danger like it was a game. It was almost impossible to attribute that version of him with the definition of the man he had become now -

  • Divorce? Just Not Yet Darling!   What If She Never Recovers?

Alex's POV We ventured down the long corridor, the whole time Drago took the lead without a word. He pushed open a door and stepped into a private gallery; its walls were lined with curated pieces, spaced with deliberate precision. With spine straight, hands clasped neatly behind his back, his gaze remained fixed on the artwork before him. It was a massive oil painting -dark strokes clashing against muted gold, a storm swallowing what looked like a fractured city. Chaos, restrained only by control.I found my interest in no time, something I felt resonated with the void in my heart. A quieter piece-pale tones, a lone figure standing at the edge of an empty horizon, swallowed by silence. It pulled something in me. So I crossed the room slowly, the soft echo of my steps filling the stillness, and stopped before it, hanging on the opposite side from across Dragos, so we had our backs to each other. For a moment, Dragos said nothing. His hands remained calm and relaxed behind his back,

  • Divorce? Just Not Yet Darling!   I Need To Tell The Truth

Alex's POV The laughter died almost instantly, Eric's grin freezing halfway across his face, and Bella's outstretched hand slowly lowering. Even the nearby guests seemed to pause briefly, curiosity pulling their attention in our direction at the sudden change in vibe.Dragos stopped right before me.Up close, the years had barely touched him. He still had the same calm, carved expression. The same eyes that seemed to look through a man, rather than at him. His gaze remained on me."Alex."My name left his lips in that same quiet tone I remembered. Controlled, steady, yet dangerous in its calm."Uncle". That was the fastest response I could give, at least for now as I kept staring at him like it was my first. For a second, neither of us moved. I couldn't tell him how much I've missed him, how much the little me trying so hard to resurface again, misses that smile he had on his face whenever I did something he regarded as 'manly'. Even though his smile always sat tight, it was better
