Cassandra’s POV

“Laura thinks your foot is broken,” I explained to Stella. “It’s swelling inside your boot and…”

But just then, the sound of a dirt bike cut through the air.

We both looked to where the sound was coming from, and sure enough, seconds later, a man on a dirt bike came tearing up the path, a trail of dust billowing behind him.

I stood up and waved my arms in the air.

“Over here,” I shouted at him.

He saw us and came right for us. He turned off the bike, climbed off, and grabbed a first aid kit from the back of his bike.

“I assume you’re Stella and Cassandra?” he asked. “Your friends called. More help is on the way. Now let’s take a look at that ankle.”

I’d never been so relieved in my life. Help was here. I didn’t have to slice open my friend’s foot. Everything was going to be fine.

Four hours later, we were back in the Venetian hotel room. Stella was sporting a cast that w

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 278: Larry’s Law Office

Cassandra’s POV We parallel parked on the busy street outside the law office. Dillon would be meeting us there, but Cameron, Dillon, and Stella, and Laura would have to wait outside, since they weren’t named in the will and there were privacy legalities. So it was just Jordyn, Howard, and I, and we ascended the stairs into the law office.“Nervous?” I asked Jordyn as we entered the lobby area.“Surprisingly, no,” he said, with a slight grin. “I think I’m just excited to get this over this. I mean, my feelings about this are complicated. There’s a part of me that will always love her. She’s my mother, after all. But she made choices and these are the consequences.”I nodded. I was personally really looking forward to seeing Vivienne in handcuffs. She’d made my life a living hell while I was married to Jordyn, and she’d hurt people I love. I didn’t like the thought of a court room trial. I’d have to testify, obviously, but Laura assured us the court case would be pretty stra

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 277: Laura’s Contract

Jordyn’s POV I’d never actually pressed charges against someone before. It was pretty nerve wracking walking into that police station. Police men had always intimidated me. I was glad I had my dad with me, even if he wasn’t exactly what you’d call a pillar of strength. My poor dad was so nervous, he’d sweat right through his shirt. But we were very prepared, thanks to my goddess of a girlfriend, Laura. She’d told us exactly what to say, and then rehearsed it with us over and over last night until we both felt confident. “I’m here to file press charges,” I told the receptionist. I explained a little bit, and then she went to fetch the head of police. He took us into a room, and we relayed everything Laura had told us to say. He took notes as we talked. “We’re requesting, um,” I faltered. Shit, how had Laura phrased it. Things like this made me nervous. The law was so…particular. I was terrified I’d mess this up. “We’re r

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 276: Court Orders Filed

Dillon’s POV Sometimes, I really liked being a lawyer. This was one of those times. I was at the courthouse, filing my whack of papers. First, there was the court order that would force the reading of the will. I was filing the order on grounds of ‘pending criminal charges’, which would expedite the reading. Next up were Howard’s divorce papers. There was something really satisfying about helping someone end a bad marriage. I thought back to the divorce papers I’d drawn up for Cassandra all those months ago. Divorce papers from Jordyn, who was, ironically now the reason I was here, filing more divorce papers. I was happy that Howard was divorcing Vivienne, just as I’d been happy that Cassandra had been divorcing Jordyn. For very different reasons, though, obviously. And finally, I had the court orders which would immediately freeze all of Vivienne’s assets the moment the will was read on the grounds of pending criminal charges, a

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 275: Breakfast

Cassandra’s POV Cam, Stella, and Laura were all waiting for us at a booth. They waved us over as soon as they saw us. “How did it go?” Laura asked. “Good, I think,” Jordyn said as we all slid into the booth. “You told them everything I told you to say?” Laura asked. “We did. Yes. They’re going to meet us at the lawyer’s office. They’re just waiting for the time.” “Fabulous,” Laura said. She looked great, despite being up for half the night. She was wearing a deep blue cashmere suit, and her glossy black hair was swept up into one of those buns that looked like it took no work at all, but also still somehow managed to be perfect. “We waited for you before we ordered,” Stella said. “You doing okay, man?” Cameron asked Jordyn. “Yeah. Surprisingly so. I just want this all to be over.” Laura reached over and put her hand on Jordyn’s. “The hardest part will be over soon

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 274: The Police Station

Cassandra’s POV I went with Jordyn and Stanley to the police station the next morning for moral support. Even though it had been a long night, we all had a nervous energy. Part of me still couldn’t believe Jordyn was doing this. I mean, Vivienne was his mother, even though she was a really shitty one. There had to be a part of him that was sad about all of this.If everything worked according to plan, Vivienne would be behind bars later that day. It was surreal to think about. That woman had made my life miserable for so long, it was almost inconceivable that she was finally getting what she deserved.I was really proud of Jordyn for finally standing up to his mother. I hated that it had to be like this, and I’m sure he’d need a lot of therapy after sending his mother away to jail, but he was giving himself the chance at a new start, and a life without his toxic mother.I was also happy for Howard. He deserved to have Stanley’s company, just as he deserved a life without his a

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 273: The Meeting

Dillon’s POV Everyone listened as I explained how this would all work. The plan was to hit Vivienne with everything at once.“If we file the court order to force a reading of the will, we can force the reading by tomorrow afternoon,” I said.“That’s fast,” Jordyn replied.“Yes, it is. But it’s done all the time. For situations like this, or in situations where certain family members can’t be found, and so on. Anyway, Vivienne will be notified that the will is being read with or without her. The executor of the will take care of that for us. Knowing Vivienne, I’m sure she’ll show up. Meanwhile, Howard and Jordyn will have already gone to the police station to officially press charges. You can both notify the police of Vivienne’s whereabouts and ask them to refrain from arresting her until the will is read. Again, it’s not that uncommon to wait until a will is read before someone’s arrested.”“Okay. So we have to go to the police station first thing tomorrow morning?” Jordyn
