The moment we walked into the room, it suddenly went still.

The matriarch was the first to turn, her smile faltering the second she met our gaze.

Eleanor’s face turned pale.

As for Anastasia and Maya, they glared at us like they were trying to conjure ancient spells to make us disappear.

And Roland, the coward looked unbothered. He didn’t blink or cough, he just looked at is like he had expected us to show up somehow.

I frowned, my hand turning into a fist as I squeezed hard on Noah’s hand. Roland sat by the bar, his hand clamped around the glass as he continued drinking like he owned the world.

“Looks like the scavengers have decided to show up,” he drawled out. “Trying to see if the bastard made it on the list?”

I lifted my chin, my gaze meeting his. He smirked, a faux look of confidence on his face.
