LOGINSASHA’S POV
I’ve never been caught off guard more than I was at the moment. Noah Beck’s words made my jaw drop, eyes widened and brows creased.
Looking into his eyes, I searched for any sign of a joke or faking, but I found none.
This man was damn serious!
“Are you for real?” I craned my neck, my brain foggy and unable to process his words fully.
His lips paused into a thin line and the darkness in his eyes threatened to swallow me whole. “As real as the benefits you’ll gain.”
Great, his reply threw me off guard also.
Why does everything about this intolerable and insufferable billionaire throw me off guard?
“Do you realize I just got divorced? What kind of woman will society call me if I get married to you the same day I got divorced?”
It might not be important to him, because I could swear Noah Beck doesn’t giving a flying fuck about anyone, but I do.
Despite all I had faced when I was married to Roland, I wouldn’t want to go through that phase in a more cruel way, this time.
Getting married to Noah Beck, my Ex-husband’s step-brother, would definitely ruin my already dying image.
“Unfortunately, the timing is irrelevant, our agreement is what’s important.” Noah Beck replied, his eyes empty, without any care in the world.
And did I ever mention that his nonchalant attitude irks me the most?
“The timing is relevant to me,” I gritted, trying my best not to smack his face.
I knew from the very beginning that meeting Noah Beck for help was the greatest mistake I’ve ever made, but I gave him the benefit of doubt and as always, he never failed to disappoint me.
“I’m sorry for wasting your time, Mr. Noah. You’re a very busy man and time means money to you.” I moved back a bit, pressing my body against the car’s door, ready to leave.
His full brows creased and his eyes darkened even more. “Like you said, time means money to me,” he drawled. “You want out? Fine. But be ready to pay the price, Sasha. I’m supposed to attend a meeting involving money, so would you rather pay instead?”
At that moment, I was already regretting my decision. “And how much is it?”
I knew I was broke. A broke divorce woman with no place to lay her head, yet, she was being arrogant towards a billionaire. Isn’t that ridiculous?
He smirked, the closest I’ve ever seen him to a smile. “Are you sure you can afford it? From what I know, you’re a broke divorced woman with no home to return to.”
I hate that he knew me too well, but that didn’t stop me from being arrogant. Like I had it all. “I’m also a busy woman, Noah Beck. How much is it?”
“Fifty million dollars.”
He said it in the most calmest voice I’ve ever heard, yet, it sounded like a gust of heavy wind slammed against the side of my face. “Fi……fifty million?”
While I was busy fighting against my tongue on what to say next. Whether an apology or a promise of payment in installments, I heard a chuckle and upon turning around, I was amused.
Noah Beck sure has a beautiful smile. It was my first time witnessing it.
“Cat got your tongue?” With a raised eyebrow, his lips stretched into an arrogant smirk, wiping off the beautiful smile that once mesmerized me. “Mrs. Conrad…. Sorry, Sasha Hawkins, are you willing to pay?”
I bit my lower lips, almost drawing out blood as I weighed my options.
Paying a whopping fifty million or signing a contract marriage?
After thinking for a bit longer than usual, thanks to Noah’s patience, I opted for the second option. I was already a scorned Ex-wife, a shameless woman who didn’t think of her pride when she begged her Ex-husband not to divorce her.
At this point, I had nothing to lose and like Roland said earlier today, I’m a shameless woman and for that, you can’t shame the shameless.
I took a deep breath, hoping I won’t eventually regret my decision. “Let’s do it.” I muttered, my voice barely audible.
“Louder please. I want to make sure the contract reflects your enthusiasm.”
“You!” I gritted, glaring at Noah whose lips stretched into a lopsided smile.
He was smiling constantly at me which was in fact making me uncomfortable and feeling weird.
Noah Beck, as I’ve known him for three years, hates me and my guts. He thought I got married to his step-brother because of money, hence the hatred, but at this moment, he was smiling so brightly, like we were never enemies.
“Okay fine!” I surrendered, heaving a sigh. “Let’s do it. Let’s get married, after all I’m desperate and shameless.”
I was sad my situation threw me under the bus with no option but to seek help from my Ex-husband’s step-brother. I hate the fact that I was still tied around Roland and his sweetheart, hence, I would be seeing them often.
But fortunately, my desperation for revenge and survival outweighs everything else.
“Great. The contract will be ready by tomorrow. Come over to my company.” He tugged on his seat belt and wore his dark shade. “We will sign the contract, get married in the city hall and then you move in with me.”
My brows creased and my throat strained as I shouted in horror. “Move in with you? Why?”
“Why would my wife live somewhere else? Are you aware that our marriage would be announced publicly? And also, Roland and his followers would try to dig in further to know if we are really married.”
It was the longest I’ve heard Noah Beck speak, but I was too shocked to dwell on that fact. “I can be more careful.”
Noah Beck grabbed his phone, scrolling through it like what I just said meant nothing to him.
This was his way of letting me know that it wasn’t up for argument. “See you tomorrow, Sasha Hawkins. Try not to get bald tonight and get a good sleep. I wouldn’t want to see my wife without any hair and dark circles under her eyes.”
Heat crept its way up my cheeks at his words. “I’m not your wife.” I glared.
“You’ll be. By tomorrow.”
EPILOGUESASHA’S POVIt may have been too fast. Maybe I forgave him too easily, but one thing I knew was certain was that our love had never been the conventional one. It had to take a little bit of breaking to make us.And I loved it. I loved just how far we have come.“Come on, you know that we have to see them,” Noah said, his hand wrapped around my body. For someone who has been begging me to leave the room, he has made no move to let me go.We had stayed in Bald Saty for a few more weeks before Nina called his phone, threatening to burn my building down if I didn’t return. Nina, it had taken a while, but after a much-needed conversation, she finally understood why I had run.If I didn’t run, Noah would never have chased; he wouldn’t have caught us.His hand turned my stomach, his lips pressing soft kisses on me, the three months he had missed still stung. No matter how hard he tried to hide it, I could see it in his eyes that it affected him.He hasn’t missed one hospital check-u
NOAH’S POVShe loved me. That was all that echoed through my mind. She loved me, she wanted me.Her lips smashed against mine, confirming that this was as real as it could get. I wasn’t imagining this; I wouldn’t wake up in the middle of the night and realise I was dreaming.“I love you,” I whispered against her lips. I needed her to know this. I had spent days keeping this information from her, and now, I wouldn’t do that; I will tell her about my love from sunrise to sunset. I needed her to know that she was everything that I wanted.I had lost her once, allowed her to slip through my fingers; this time, I will make sure that she never escapes. I will hold her forever. She chuckled, pulling away slightly from my lips, “I love you,”I wanted to scream, wanted to stand at the top of the mountains and scream, wanted to make sure that the whole world heard that I was loved.“Blake…”She shook her head, her thumb pressed against my lips, “I don’t want to talk about her. Troy told me ever
SASHA’S POV“I lost you, Sasha,”His words echoed through my mind, the minute he had said it, I rushed out of the room, unable to stand any longer. Matteo was there in a flash, blocking his path, stopping him from reaching out to me.I was happy that he didn’t chase me. I knew that if he did, I would have fallen back into his web. The thing is, Noah had shown me something I never knew that I could have. When Roland had taken all my love, burned me so hard that life couldn’t hold me, Noah had found the broken soul who was bristling with anger, cloaked in revenge. He had shown me that love was never meant to hurt.He didn’t love me. He lost a business partner. That was what he wanted.“What if he wants more? What if he wants to be with you and the child?” a tiny voice whispered at the back of my mind. That was the thing, now that he knows about the child, I wouldn’t keep him from being in their lives, all that I needed to do was guard my heart. A tear slipped down my cheeks, I couldn’t
AUTHOR’S POVThe waiting room was tense. Noah paced around head stuck in despair. She was pregnant, and he hadn’t imagined it. The pregnancy test kit had been hers. The truth slapped through him harder than he imagined. For three months, he was forced away from her while she was here, alone and pregnant. He wanted to scream, throw a tantrum but he couldn't blame any other person but himself.Elisabeth hadn’t known, if she had, she wouldn’t have let him stay away for this long. They wouldn’t have kept him away from his child and wife.“Fake wife,” a tiny voice whispered at the back of his mind.He glowered, angry at the thought, she was his wife, she still had his ring around her finger, which should mean something. There was hope. There had to be hope. The last three months were a total pain, ninety-three days of emptiness.“Sit Noah, you are going to drill a hole in the floor,” Troy said in a calm tone.He was still trying to go through his shock, he had been sitting on the informati
SASHA’S POVIt felt weird. The air was unnecessarily cold, as if it was reminding me that there was a certain warmth that I needed but I couldn’t have.I tightened the jacket around my body. Noah’s jacket, the one that I still carried even after everything that… I shook my head; I wasn’t going to think about that. The jacket could barely cover my protruding stomach and the scent? I hated to admit it, but the scent no longer smelled like his. That made me panic slightly. This jacket has always been the one thing that helped me stay calm. My mind wandered back to the day I had found out it wasn’t on my bed, I had run so fast that I thought I would fall, only to reach in time as the maid was about to put it in the washer. After that day, the tears and the screams, they knew better than to touch it. I hated how attached to this I was. But I didn’t care.Maria leaned by the wall, she was hovering, she had sensed the change in my mood. “Do you want to eat something? I can make you some baco
NOAH’S POVTHREE MONTHS LATERIf anyone knew anything, they said nothing. Troy was avoiding me, and I was sure that Elisabeth was keeping him busy. I didn’t want to push, and I didn’t want to be the one to cause a rift between him and his mother. If he had a way, he could have told me.When Nina’s name flashed on my screen, I picked up her call immediately, my heart pounding loudly in my chest. Maybe this was it—this was the time that she would tell me that she had been found. But just like before, the hope had died the minute it flickered in my chest.“I know that you are busy with work, but do you think you can have Matt come over, I really font know what…” her voice cracked. She was trying to stay strong for her friend, hoping to hold the reins until she returned. But it was taking a toll on her. Eric was doing his best, contacting people who could help find her.But how do you find someone who doesn’t want to be found?“Sure, it is not a bother, I will send Matt immediately,” I sa
