LOGINSASHA'S POV
"Sasha, as far as I know, no man has as much influence as your Ex-husband, Roland, in Boston.” Nina said, her hands trembling slightly.
I could tell what she was thinking about. Nina was worried. Worried that I won’t be able to fight against all those who have wronged me.
“There’s someone,” I let out a small smile as I watch Nina’s eyes widened in shock.
“Who? Who has more influence than Roland Conrad?” She asked, taking a step closer to hear who I was about mentioning.
“Noah Beck.” I replied, taking in my lower lips as the words slipped out of my tongue. “Noah Beck. Roland’s Stepbrother.”
I knew it was ridiculous to beg someone as influential as Noah Beck, but I was too desperate to think of my pride.
I was willing to set aside the hatred I have against him, if it means getting back on my feet. I was willing to do everything.
“Roland has a Stepbrother? I have no idea.” Nina’s jaw dropped and her eyes widened even more like that of a saucepan.
“Yes. No one knows about him except the Conrad family, including me. Noah Beck is more influential than Roland.”
Nina stared at me with a puzzled look on her face, blinking rapidly as she tried to process the words that I had just said, “Why?”
“Unlike Roland, Noah hates the media. To keep his identity hidden, he had the whole family sign an NDA, if anyone dare leaks his pictures, they are to pay some hefty amount,” I muttered.
I moved towards the window, my eyes raking through the city that was slowly waking from its slumber, “When he whispers, the world tilts,” I added.
Nina looked cautious, like the thought of Noah had filled her with dread. “What is he like?” she whispered, the question like she was scared of hearing the answer I would give.
A soft smile curved on my lips, my mind wandering back to the family Christmas dinner I had first met him, “He is a cunning man, cold, calm and calculating,” I muttered, my voice low like I was back in the room stuck under his intense gaze.
“He is the kind of smart that doesn’t have to say it. You just know it,” I mumbled. I chuckled, “He hated me. He said, My sight only brought the kind of memories he hated to recall,” I said.
“Why? You are one of the nicest people that I have known all my life,” she frowned, her eyes wide as she stared at me.
I exhaled loudly, folding my arms across my chest as I stared at her, “He thought I married Roland for his money.”
She glowered, her fist clenched, “But you didn’t!” she protested.
“I know. I wish I did,” I muttered, my eyes glaring at the ring on the table. The only proof that I was once a Conrad.
The heavy hung heavy in the room.
I had given my soul in the sham of a marriage with Roland, and in the end, he had left me with scars.
“Should we reach out to him?” she asked, looking at me with hopeful eyes.
I heaved a sigh, “Nina, the man hates my guts. Nothing about me would sound pleasing…” I paused, the words trapped in my throat.
She moved closer to the edge of the chair, her eyes wide, “What?”
I smirked. I may have just found leverage.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
“He hates Roland, some fight about a company document he had leaked… it was a long story, but Roland got the company, Noah built his,” I said, quickly summarizing the story.
“So does that mean that he will help us?” she asked.
“To spite Roland, he will move the world,” I said, my fingers moving fast as I typed an email.
“Sent,” I smirked, looking at the screen with a satisfied smirk on my face. There was no hurt more wrathful than that of a scorned woman. Roland was going to regret hurting me.
“He replied!” Nina shrieked, her eyes wide as she opened the email.
“What?” I frowned, shocked at her words.
“He had agreed to meet you,” she said, her smile faltering for a second. “Now.”
“I have to go,” I said, rushing to the closet as I searched for a suitable dress to meet the most influential man in the business world.
Nina was a bundle of nerves, and my running around didn’t ease her turmoil.
“You have that look on your face,” I muttered, staring at her through the mirror. “What is on your mind?” I asked. Nina always wore her emotions like a sleeve.
“I am scared,” she mumbled, her voice trembling slightly.
“About?” I asked, moving closer to her.
“That you will lose yourself in this path of vengeance,” she muttered.
A ghost smile crossed my lips, “I have lost everything. This is my way of picking myself back, piece by piece,” I said, kissing her cheeks as I walked out of the house.
“Mrs Conrad…”
“Sasha,” I cut in, smiling at the man.
“Sorry. Mr Beck ordered that I drive,” he said.
He opened the car door, and there he was.
Noah Beck.
Sitting in his full glory, his eyes scanning through the files on his lap, unfazed, like he couldn’t feel my eyes on him.
“You are late, Sasha,” he muttered, his deep baritone voice resonating through my body.
He remembered me.
“Get in,” he said in a dismissive tone.
“I read through your email,” he said, getting straight to the point. This was Noah, no need for pleasantries.
“I have a better proposal,” he said, leaning against the car seat as he stared at me.
“What is it?” I asked in a low tone.
“I will help your company grow, but you…” He paused, leaving his words hanging in the air.
Noah Beck was a devil, a man who traded souls like coins.
“You don’t even know what I have planned,” I muttered.
“I don’t care, I will get your company running, and get you enough shares in Roland’s company to control him,” he said.
He had me. He knew it.
“What is it you want from me?” I asked, my voice low and dark.
He smirked, his eyes flickering with interest— a dangerous spark.
His next words tilted my world on its axis.
“Be my bride.”
EPILOGUESASHA’S POVIt may have been too fast. Maybe I forgave him too easily, but one thing I knew was certain was that our love had never been the conventional one. It had to take a little bit of breaking to make us.And I loved it. I loved just how far we have come.“Come on, you know that we have to see them,” Noah said, his hand wrapped around my body. For someone who has been begging me to leave the room, he has made no move to let me go.We had stayed in Bald Saty for a few more weeks before Nina called his phone, threatening to burn my building down if I didn’t return. Nina, it had taken a while, but after a much-needed conversation, she finally understood why I had run.If I didn’t run, Noah would never have chased; he wouldn’t have caught us.His hand turned my stomach, his lips pressing soft kisses on me, the three months he had missed still stung. No matter how hard he tried to hide it, I could see it in his eyes that it affected him.He hasn’t missed one hospital check-u
NOAH’S POVShe loved me. That was all that echoed through my mind. She loved me, she wanted me.Her lips smashed against mine, confirming that this was as real as it could get. I wasn’t imagining this; I wouldn’t wake up in the middle of the night and realise I was dreaming.“I love you,” I whispered against her lips. I needed her to know this. I had spent days keeping this information from her, and now, I wouldn’t do that; I will tell her about my love from sunrise to sunset. I needed her to know that she was everything that I wanted.I had lost her once, allowed her to slip through my fingers; this time, I will make sure that she never escapes. I will hold her forever. She chuckled, pulling away slightly from my lips, “I love you,”I wanted to scream, wanted to stand at the top of the mountains and scream, wanted to make sure that the whole world heard that I was loved.“Blake…”She shook her head, her thumb pressed against my lips, “I don’t want to talk about her. Troy told me ever
SASHA’S POV“I lost you, Sasha,”His words echoed through my mind, the minute he had said it, I rushed out of the room, unable to stand any longer. Matteo was there in a flash, blocking his path, stopping him from reaching out to me.I was happy that he didn’t chase me. I knew that if he did, I would have fallen back into his web. The thing is, Noah had shown me something I never knew that I could have. When Roland had taken all my love, burned me so hard that life couldn’t hold me, Noah had found the broken soul who was bristling with anger, cloaked in revenge. He had shown me that love was never meant to hurt.He didn’t love me. He lost a business partner. That was what he wanted.“What if he wants more? What if he wants to be with you and the child?” a tiny voice whispered at the back of my mind. That was the thing, now that he knows about the child, I wouldn’t keep him from being in their lives, all that I needed to do was guard my heart. A tear slipped down my cheeks, I couldn’t
AUTHOR’S POVThe waiting room was tense. Noah paced around head stuck in despair. She was pregnant, and he hadn’t imagined it. The pregnancy test kit had been hers. The truth slapped through him harder than he imagined. For three months, he was forced away from her while she was here, alone and pregnant. He wanted to scream, throw a tantrum but he couldn't blame any other person but himself.Elisabeth hadn’t known, if she had, she wouldn’t have let him stay away for this long. They wouldn’t have kept him away from his child and wife.“Fake wife,” a tiny voice whispered at the back of his mind.He glowered, angry at the thought, she was his wife, she still had his ring around her finger, which should mean something. There was hope. There had to be hope. The last three months were a total pain, ninety-three days of emptiness.“Sit Noah, you are going to drill a hole in the floor,” Troy said in a calm tone.He was still trying to go through his shock, he had been sitting on the informati
SASHA’S POVIt felt weird. The air was unnecessarily cold, as if it was reminding me that there was a certain warmth that I needed but I couldn’t have.I tightened the jacket around my body. Noah’s jacket, the one that I still carried even after everything that… I shook my head; I wasn’t going to think about that. The jacket could barely cover my protruding stomach and the scent? I hated to admit it, but the scent no longer smelled like his. That made me panic slightly. This jacket has always been the one thing that helped me stay calm. My mind wandered back to the day I had found out it wasn’t on my bed, I had run so fast that I thought I would fall, only to reach in time as the maid was about to put it in the washer. After that day, the tears and the screams, they knew better than to touch it. I hated how attached to this I was. But I didn’t care.Maria leaned by the wall, she was hovering, she had sensed the change in my mood. “Do you want to eat something? I can make you some baco
NOAH’S POVTHREE MONTHS LATERIf anyone knew anything, they said nothing. Troy was avoiding me, and I was sure that Elisabeth was keeping him busy. I didn’t want to push, and I didn’t want to be the one to cause a rift between him and his mother. If he had a way, he could have told me.When Nina’s name flashed on my screen, I picked up her call immediately, my heart pounding loudly in my chest. Maybe this was it—this was the time that she would tell me that she had been found. But just like before, the hope had died the minute it flickered in my chest.“I know that you are busy with work, but do you think you can have Matt come over, I really font know what…” her voice cracked. She was trying to stay strong for her friend, hoping to hold the reins until she returned. But it was taking a toll on her. Eric was doing his best, contacting people who could help find her.But how do you find someone who doesn’t want to be found?“Sure, it is not a bother, I will send Matt immediately,” I sa
