Hanging up, Renee headed to Quinton's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Renee only entered when Quinton called out, and she entered to find him behind his desk.

He was working as his new secretary, who was hired now that Candy was gone, stood nearby.

Seeing her, Quinton gestured at the couch and greeted her. "Please take a seat, Ms. Whitley. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

Renee sat on the couch and went straight to the point. "I'm going to Cromenia to further my career. You now have full control over Genome Tech."

Quinton asked. "When are you leaving?"

"In a couple of days," Renee replied. "I'm counting on you to take care of everything."

The thought really worried her, as she couldn't trust Quinton at all, if only because she just couldn't see through him.

There was just this veil that kept them apart, and she couldn't discern his true nature behind that veil.
