•Juliet POV•

“What does that godforsaken woman want from you?” Vera asked as we made our way toward Theo’s parents front yard.

“She wants me to make a statement claiming Raya is innocence, so the cops would release her.” I mumbled, still feeling the anger from earlier simmering inside me.

“Jeez,” Vera gasped dramatically. “I knew, would come to you. First, she acted like you didn’t exist, and now that Raya’s in trouble, she wants you to help? What does she think you are? Her backup conscience?”

“I don’t care anymore what she thinks,” I told her, glancing toward my mother as she walked soberly to her car. She turned to look at me one last time before getting in. “She doesn’t exist to me.”

Vera sighed. “Yes, Jules. Just don’t think about it. She isn’t worth your time.”

I looked down at Jace, who was quietly staring at me, his curious blue eyes full of questions. I smiled, brushing away the anger and sadness that had suddenly enveloped me. “Let’s go, baby.”

I knocked on the brown door, o

•Juliet’s POV•My breath hitched in my throat as I felt Edward's lips brush against mine softly, his hand resting on my back while the other cupped my chin. How did we come to this? Why did I allow him to kiss me? The question roared in my head as his lips grazed against mine, drawing fire along with it, an emotion that I had buried in my gut after James encounter coming back to the surface.I pulled away slowly, my lips tingling from the contact. I didn't meet his eyes right away, afraid of what I might see. Or worse, what he might see in mine.“Why did you do that?” I whispered, my voice barely steady. My heart thumping in my chest as I slowly looked up to meet his gaze. The affection in his eyes sent a chill down my spine. His eyes searched mine with a desperate intensity. “Because I couldn’t hold back anymore. I’ve wanted to kiss you since the moment I saw you again. I needed you to feel it... to know how sorry I am.”I drew in a shaky breath, placing a small distance between us,

•Edward POV•"What are you doing here? You've not fully recovered, and you shouldn't have left the hospital," Juliet said, standing up from the lounge chair she was sitting. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, and her eyes flickered with concern despite the stern tone in her voice.I smiled softly. “I’m fine. I got tired of waiting for you to come check on me, so I decided to come myself. I couldn’t wait anymore. I had to see you.”She looked away quickly, her jaw tightening.“I know you’re worried about me, but I’m really fine,” I added gently, taking a step toward her.She shifted slightly, keeping a small distance between us. “You’re using this as an excuse, because I came to check on you today. What more do you want?” she scoffed, eyes darting toward the pool. “Just because I care about you because of the incident doesn’t mean you should take advantage of it.”“Is that what you think?” I said quietly. Her eyes didn’t meet mine, but I could tell she wasn’t truly angry. “T

•Juliet’s POV•We fell into silence as Vera’s phone began to ring. She glanced at the screen before answering, her voice dropping to a more serious tone as she got up and walked toward the hallway.Pushing myself up from the couch, I grabbed my bag and made my way upstairs to my room. Once inside my room, I dropped my bag on the bed and headed straight for the bathroom. After a quick shower, I stepped out, wrapped in a towel, steam curling behind me as I walked over to my wardrobe and pulled out a brown flowery gown, slipping it on. It hugged my waist just right, light and breezy. I tied my hair up into a neat ponytail, before I made my way out of the room. By the time I got into the living room, Vera was curled up on the couch, a bowl of popcorn resting on her lap while she watched TV. She glanced over as she heard my steps, then grabbed the remote and lowered the volume. With a grin, she dropped the bowl onto the coffee table."Where are you heading looking this beautiful?" she as

•Juliet's POV•Edward's voice echoed in my ear as I sat in the car, staring out the window. I hadn't expected him to react the way he did, and the fact that I told him about Jace being his son must've triggered all that."Uh, what was I thinking?" I mumbled to myself. "I shouldn't have gone to see him on my own. Now I feel awkward."I squeezed the hand that was resting on my lap and took in a deep breath, exhaling slowly as if calming the storm within me. Luckily for me, Eric pulled into the driveway of the mansion and opened the door. I stepped out and walked hastily to the entrance.Clutching my bag handle in my hand, I drowned in thoughts of what to do the next time I see Edward. Since I’d already told him I would reply later, I had to be sure that whatever response I gave wouldn't end up hurting me. I walked into the living room and saw Vera and Jace sitting on the couch. Jace had a chocolate bar in his hand and was nibbling on it while he watched TV peacefully. Vera must’ve hear

•Juliet POV•The rest of the week passed by in a flash, and before I knew it, it was Saturday. I rolled over to the other side of my bed and, surprisingly, touched someone. I raised my head for a better view, and saw that it was Jace.He must’ve left his room to come sleep in mine. A smile tugged at my lips as I pulled him close into a cuddle. While I watched him sleep, I could lie to myself or to anyone else, but I couldn’t deny the fact that whenever I stared at Jace, it felt like I was staring at Edward. They had almost everything in common, blue eyes, perfect curly hair, and even their body composure.Jace was like a smaller version of Edward, and the thought alone made me feel slightly uneasy. If I accepted Edward back into my life, would he do the same thing he did that tore us apart? What if I ended up regretting it?I was pulled out of my thoughts by the ringing of the alarm clock. I gently pulled my hand away from Jace and reached out to turn it off. When I turned back to him
