•Edward POV•

I took her hand, watching closely as her eyelids fluttered but didn’t open immediately. My heart leapt, my breath catching in my throat. I turned sharply to the nurse and shouted, “Please get the doctor, she’s awake!”

Without wasting a second, he rushed out of the ward, his footsteps fading down the hall. I turned back to Juliet, clutching her hand firmly as if she might slip away again.

“I’m here, my love,” I whispered, my voice trembling.

Her lashes trembled again, and this time, slowly, her eyes opened. The sight hit me like a rush of wind. Her gaze was hazy, unfocused at first, but they were open, truly open. My chest tightened as tears filled my eyes.

“Juliet…” I breathed her name.

She blinked weakly, her lips parting. “Edward?” The sound was soft and broken.

A sob of relief escaped me, and I leaned closer, pressing her hand to my cheek. “Yes, it’s me. I’m here with you.”

It felt unreal, like I was dreaming, like at any moment I’d wake up and find her still lying th

  • Divorced: Dear Ex It's Your Loss   Chapter 254

•Juliet POV•The rest of the week went by in the blink of an eye, along with any form of weakness I was feeling. The doctor Edward had hired to look after me came every morning and stayed until evening. She helped me get used to walking around the house, and sometimes we went to the gym. She said since I had been in a coma for a month, my muscles must’ve been stiff and I needed exercise to get them working perfectly.Surprisingly, that worked like magic, and I wouldn’t say I hadn’t fully recovered because I could do everything everyone else was doing, and eat food that wasn’t gelatin or overcooked.“Mommy, can we go out for shopping?” Jace asked as he walked into the balcony where I was seated, feeling the cool evening breeze while I read a novel to relax.I looked away from the book at him. “Why, honey?”He walked over and took a seat next to me on the two-seater couch, resting his little hand on the glass table. “Because I want a new Lego set. The ones I have are already old, and Mi

•Edward POV•The moment the elevator door slid open, I stepped out and made my way to the car. Everything happening felt surreal to me. I still couldn’t believe that James had gotten to this new hospital. How did he know she was here? Could it be that he had followed me the day I moved Juliet here? The question pulled up in my mind as I thought back to the moment that led to all this. It was almost as if I knew this would happen, and I was glad the hospital had security cameras in every ward. When I got the call that a strange man entered Juliet’s room, the first person that came to my mind was James, but then I thought that would be impossible.I didn’t waste time. I rushed out of the house to the car. Eric must have noticed the tension in my voice when I answered the call, because he followed and got into the car with me. It was not until I was on the road that I found the courage to tell him what was happening.Eric had said it was an opportunity for us to catch James, so he immedi

•Juliet POV•I sat on the bed eating the gelatin the nurse had given me after the doctor had done what he called a swallowing test. The TV in the room was turned on and set to a reality show. I let the jelly-like substance linger in my mouth for a while before gulping it down. The room was quiet, with only the faint sound coming from the TV. I rested my back against the headboard, smiling softly when a part of the show caught my attention, triggering memories of Jace perfume when I first started it.The creaking sound of the door opening caught my attention, and I turned toward it, expecting to see the nurse or Edward. But my eyes widened, and the spoon in my hand slipped to the ground when I saw someone I never thought I’d see again standing by the door.He was wearing a black hoodie that stretched across his muscular body, the hood covering his head. The wicked smile on his lips made a cold chill run down my spine.“James?” I stammered. He grinned and stepped forward into the room.

•Edward POV•The sharp ringing of my phone pulled me out of sleep. My eyes fluttered open, and I realized I was still lying close to Juliet. My arm was wrapped protectively around her waist, and her slow, steady breathing told me she was still in deep sleep. Carefully, I slipped my hand away, not wanting to wake her, and sat up on the edge of the bed.The sound of my phone continued, muffled against the fabric of my pocket. I pulled it out quickly, glancing at the caller ID before answering.“Hello, Eric,” I said, standing and walking quietly toward the open window. The early morning breeze rushed against my face, cool and refreshing. From here, the city stretched wide and alive, lights still glowing faintly against the fading night.“Good morning, Mr. Miles,” Eric greeted politely. “The police came to the house. They want more information on what we know about James. I already told them what I know, but they insist they need to talk to you.”I ran a hand through my hair, releasing a

•Juliet POV•“Mr. Bean Grigs has been put on trial in the New York law court, and the sentence day will follow in the upcoming week. As for his son James Grigs, the police still haven’t been able to find him and are currently searching,” the sound from the TV woke me.I shifted to the side of the bed, feeling some relief from the weakness that had been weighing me down for days. The nurse had given me another dose of drip earlier, promising it would help me recover faster. At first, I hadn’t believed her, but Vera’s encouragement had given me the impression I should.I slowly scanned the room. Vera wasn’t here. My eyes softened when they fell on Jace, who was asleep on the three-seater couch, his small body curled up under Edward’s jacket.Turning my gaze toward the TV, I saw Edward standing opposite it, holding the remote loosely in one hand, his other hand resting beneath his chin. His expression was sharp, his thoughts clearly running deep.Gathering the new strength I felt in me,

•Juliet POV•Fragments of memories filled my thoughts, the incident that must have brought me to the hospital. I tried to move my body, maybe even sit up, but the weakness inside me kept me still on the bed.I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to gather myself. Everything felt like it had happened only yesterday, the truck on speeding heading in my direction, the sudden fear tightening my chest, and then… nothing. That was all I could remember. I must have been knocked out, because waking up like this felt unreal.Slowly, I tried lifting my hand from the bed. A small smile escaped my lips when I finally managed to do it. With trembling fingers, I stretched my arm toward the table beside me. A small card sat there. I picked it up, flipping it open.{I’m waiting for you to wake up, Jules}My heart tightened. I traced the little handwritten heart at the bottom with my finger and saw Vera’s name neatly underneath. Dropping it back onto the table, I let out a long breath, staring up at t
