~Three Years Later~

"Mommy, do we have to leave now?" The little boy beside me whined, his bottom lip protruding in a pout, his blue eyes shimmering with unshed tears. He turned to look back at our apartment one last time, his gaze heavy with the weight of his sadness.

I crouched to his level, brushing a soft curl from his forehead. “Jace, sweetheart,” I murmured, cupping his small face in my hands. “We’re not leaving forever. We’re just going on a trip, okay? Mommy has something important to do in New York.”

His tiny fingers clutched the hem of my coat. “But I don’t want to go. I like it here.”

I sighed, my heart squeezing. “I know, baby. But I promise, we’ll come back soon.”

He sniffled, but nodded reluctantly. I pressed a kiss to his forehead before standing and taking his hand. “Come on, our flight won’t wait for us.”

As we climbed into the sleek black car waiting outside, my phone rang. The name flashing on the screen made me smile. “Hey, Vera.”

“Hey, boss lady,” she teased, the familiar warmth in her voice soothing. “Ready for your grand return?”

I scoffed, adjusting my son’s seatbelt before sliding in beside him. “It’s not a ‘grand return.’ It’s just a business trip.”

Vera snorted. “Oh, please. You’re launching one of the biggest perfume brands in the world, in the same city you once ran from. And don’t tell me it’s not fate that your first flagship store happens to be in New York.”

I rolled my eyes. “Fate or not, I’m not looking back. That part of my life is over.”

She was quiet for a moment before sighing. “I know. Just be careful, okay? The past has a nasty habit of sneaking up when you least expect it.”

“I will,” I promised. “And I’ll see you when I get back?”

“You bet. Maybe I’ll even fly out to New York and crash your party.”

I chuckled. “I’d like that.”

As the driver pulled away from the house, I glanced at Jace, who was already dozing off against his car seat. My heart clenched as I watched him. He was my everything, the reason I survived, the reason I fought so hard.

Three years ago, I left New York a broken woman. Now, I was returning as Juliet Ryder, CEO of Jace Perfumes, one of the wealthiest self-made women in the world.

I had no intention of looking back.

——

The grand opening of Jace Perfumes was held in a luxurious venue in the heart of Manhattan, a towering glass building illuminated with golden lights. The event was a spectacle, socialites, industry leaders, and media personnel filled the space, sipping champagne and admiring the exclusive launch collection displayed in elegant glass cases.

Despite being the mastermind behind it all, no one knew me.

I had built my company quietly, letting the brand speak for itself rather than seeking personal recognition. It was safer that way. There were too many people from my past I wanted to avoid.

Dressed in an off-shoulder emerald gown that hugged my curves, my once untamed black hair now styled in soft waves, I looked every bit the powerful businesswoman the world whispered about. But to them, I was just another guest, an outsider admiring the empire they thought belonged to someone else.

I was fine with that, I had until the grand announcement to introduce myself to them.

With a glass of wine in hand, I made my way toward the balcony, seeking a moment of solitude. But before I could step outside, a familiar voice sliced through the air, sending a chill down my spine.

Laughter. Carefree, taunting.

My grip on the glass tightened as I turned, and there she was, Raya.

She stood a few feet away, laughing with another woman, her manicured fingers delicately holding a champagne flute. She looked exactly the same—Cherry red hair cascading over her shoulders, expensive designer dress clinging to her frame, a smile that masked the venom beneath.

And then her gaze landed on me.

The laughter died on her lips. For a moment, her face was frozen in shock, as if she were seeing a ghost. Then, her expression twisted into one of pure hatred. She took a step forward, eyes burning with disbelief.

“Juliet?” Raya mumbled her eyes widened slowly. “What are you doing here?”

The guest turned their gazes towards me, curious to know what the ruckus was about.

I met her gaze evenly, refusing to shrink under her scrutiny. “I wasn’t aware I needed your permission to exist.”

Her lips curled into a sneer. “Three years, Juliet. Three years of blissful silence, and now you decide to crawl back? What, did you get tired of hiding?”

The woman beside her smirked, whispering something into Raya’s ear that made her snicker. I ignored it, taking a slow sip of my wine, my expression unreadable. “I didn’t come here for you.”

Raya scoffed. “Of course you did. You always did like making a spectacle of yourself.”

The murmurs around us swelled, an ocean of speculation and hushed voices. Eyes darted between me and Raya, their curiosity sharpening the air. I knew exactly where this was going, and I refused to give them the satisfaction of seeing me crumble.

Raya took another step closer. "You must have some nerve showing up here," she said, her voice laced with venom. "I mean, look at you, all dressed up like you belong." Her eyes raked over my emerald gown, a mocking smirk curling her lips. "Let me guess, some rich guy took pity on you? Is that how you got in? Or did you just steal the dress and sneak past security?"

A ripple of laughter spread through the crowd. The weight of their gazes pressed against me, but I kept my chin high, meeting her eyes with an unwavering stare.

"Watch your mouth, Raya," I said, my voice smooth but laced with warning. "You have no idea who you're talking to."

She scoffed, shaking her head. "Oh, but I do. I know exactly who you are. A nobody. A washed-up rejected wife, who ran away with her tail between her legs. What, did you think coming back in a fancy dress would change anything?" Her lips curled cruelly. "Pathetic."

I took a slow sip of my wine, unbothered. "Funny," I mused, tilting my head. "If I'm so insignificant, why are you so bothered by my presence?"

Raya's eyes darkened, her grip on the glass tightening. The woman beside her snickered again, whispering something that made Raya's lips twitch with amusement. "You should be grateful I’m even talking to you. You don’t belong here, Juliet." She sneered, tilting her head. "No amount of stolen designer dresses and fake confidence will change that."

A hush fell over the crowd as a voice, sharp and poised, cut through the air.

"What is going on here?"

•Edward POV•“Thank goodness, that evil man will finally get what he deserves,” Mrs. Carl muttered, her eyes still fixed on the TV screen. The news ended, and Eric reached for the remote, switching off the TV before grabbing his tablet. His eyes scanned quickly as his fingers moved across the screen. “I didn’t expect this to work so fast,” he said, almost in disbelief. “Comments online are going crazy.”“That’s goodnews, Eric,” I murmured, leaning back into the couch. “We just have to wait for him to get arrested.” I drew in a slow breath, letting the relief wash over me.Eric lowered himself onto the couch beside me, still locked into whatever he was reading. Mrs. Carl stood, dusting her palms against her apron. “Let me go and prepare breakfast,” she said with a small smile before turning toward the kitchen. The house settled into a quiet hum, the faint clink of pots in the kitchen, the soft sound of Eric’s scrolling, and my thoughts still circling around the news we’d just watched.

•Edward POV•I stayed with Juliet for some time before finally leaving her ward. Eric hadn’t returned, so I assumed he was with Vera. I ran a hand through my hair, letting out a long breath as I made my way to Vera's ward. Today had been a productive day, but sitting in silence beside Juliet made me realize something, none of it really mattered. The only thing that would truly make me happy was her waking up from this coma.“My love, take one more. The doctor said you need to eat well,” Eric’s voice floated toward me as I walked into Vera’s ward. He was sitting opposite her, holding a spoon close to her lips.Vera’s eyes softened at him, a small smile curling on her lips before she leaned forward and took the bite.I couldn’t help smiling as I leaned against the door frame. Eric noticed me and quickly set the plate on the table beside him, standing up almost too fast. “Mr. Miles, I didn’t know you were here.”“I just came in,” I said softly, stepping inside and settling on the small c

•Edward POV•Eric pulled into the driveway of the hospital and let out a calm breath. It was almost as if he could read my mind, because not long after, I let mine out too. I pushed the car door open and stepped out. We walked toward the entrance of the hospital and stopped at the receptionist’s desk.A lady with red hair packed neatly into a bun was there now, instead of the blonde one who used to be there. “Good afternoon, I’m Mr. Miles, and I’m here to see my wife, Juliet,” I said calmly. She looked at me for a moment, then glanced at Eric standing beside me before turning to her monitor. “Let me check if visitors are allowed at this time.” She typed for a few seconds, then looked up. “You can go.”I gave her a brief smile and walked away toward the elevator. Silence settled between Eric and me as we stood inside. He seemed lost in thought, his eyes unfocused, and I wondered what was running through his mind. The elevator chimed, and we stepped out. I headed straight for Juliet’s w

•Edward POV•Shannon’s voice came steady at first, exactly as Eric had written in the script.“Hey there, I know you all must be wondering why I decided to switch from content making to this. But I want you all to know that if something is worth talking about, it should be,” she said in a soft voice. “Everyone watched Juliet Ryder’s livestream before her incident, and many people thought she was lying to cover up everything. But I’m here to shed light on that.”I placed my hand on my chin as I watched Shannon speak. My heart filled with so much joy, and I could already imagine how this would end, with James being taken to prison.Shannon took a deep breath, her gaze fixed on the camera. “Everything Juliet Ryder said in her livestream… were the truth, and I believe her. Because I know what it’s like to start something small until it turns into something big. And I know how hurtful it can be when someone tries to ruin what kept me up at night.”“I know you all are angry that the fake pe

  • Divorced: Dear Ex It's Your Loss   Chapter 237

•Edward POV•The bright light coming through the window pressed against my closed eyelids. I groaned softly, lifting my palm to shield my face from the sun. Rolling over to the other side of the bed, my eyes widened when I saw Jace lying there beside me, sleeping peacefully.A smile tugged at my lips. He must’ve left his room in the middle of the night and crawled into mine. I reached out, brushing my hand gently against his chubby cheek. He stirred a little, but didn’t wake."Are you awake, buddy?" I asked quietly. When he didn’t answer, I sat up and reached for my phone on the nightstand. The screen lit up, nine o’clock. I ruffled my hair and headed to the bathroom to splash some water on my face. The water was cool against my skin and I looked at my reflection in the mirror, it's been long I've stared at myself. My face was paled and I looked tired even though I had just woken up, I shoved my hand through my hair brushing it backward. As I walked back into the room, I heard Jace s

•Edward POV•"I can't believe he had the guts to show up after everything he’s done," Eric muttered as he drove down the road, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter. "He seriously has no fear."I groaned softly, my hand still balled into a fist. Resisting the urge to punch James in the face had taken almost all of my willpower. The thought of him standing there, talking like that, made my blood boil. I just can’t wait for the day he’s behind bars.I turned my head to look at Jace, who was sleeping peacefully, his little head resting to the side, his seat belt holding him securely in place. His chest rose and fell in that slow, calm way children breathe when they’re deep in dreams. But James’s words kept replaying in my head, bringing a cold, sharp fear with them. What if he tried to harm Jace? What if he actually did something terrible? I couldn’t let that happen. I reached over, brushing my hand softly through Jace’s curls. He didn’t stir, just sighed quietly in his sleep, bli
