“A misunderstanding?”

I felt like the ground beneath my feet was slipping away.

A misunderstanding?

What did he even mean by that?

Before I went to the dining room this morning, my lawyer told me Rowan had already signed the divorce papers.

That was why Zephyr brought me here.

To register me as his Luna.

But now…

Everything had flipped.

Rowan rejected the divorce.

Then why would my lawyer lie to me?

“Are you sure there’s no mistake?” I asked, my voice tight. “My lawyer said Mr. Fell signed the papers.”

The receptionist gave me a sympathetic smile.

“I understand you’re desperate, Mrs. Cole, but our system doesn’t make mistakes.”

She checked her screen again.

“And about your lawyer… Mr. Gion personally submitted the rejection this morning.”

My mind went blank.

I immediately pulled out my phone and called him.

Voicemail.

Again.

Voicemail.

I tightened my grip on my phone, frustration bubbling up inside me.

Why would he lie to me?

Why didn’t he tell me Rowan rejected the divorce?

Zephyr gently placed a hand on my shoulder and guided me to a seat.

“Let me handle this.”

While he stepped aside to make a call—probably to someone powerful enough to untangle this mess—I stared blankly ahead.

I did everything right.

Filed for divorce.

Hired a lawyer.

Prepared to move on.

So why did it feel like the world was trying to drag me back?

Did Rowan bribe him?

It was possible.

I didn’t even pay that much.

Zephyr returned a few minutes later.

His expression was serious.

“I’ve contacted my legal team. They’ll speak with your lawyer and figure this out. For now, let’s go home.”

I clenched my fists.

“Okay.”

“Samantha.”

I looked up.

He lifted my chin gently.

“This isn’t the end. Even if Rowan rejected the divorce, he can’t control your life anymore.”

I swallowed hard.

“I just don’t understand… Why is he doing this? He cheated. He hurt me. Why won’t he let me go?”

He had so many women.

So why hold on to me?

Zephyr cupped my face.

“Men like Rowan don’t know how to lose. You stayed, even after everything. That’s why he thinks you’ll forgive him again.”

“But I won’t,” I whispered.

“I know,” he said firmly. “You’ll never let him touch you again.”

I nodded.

This time…

I meant it.

As we walked out of the building, I let him hold my hand.

Rowan would try again.

Manipulate me.

Break me.

Tell me I wasn’t enough.

That no one else would want me.

That he was the only one who would accept me.

I used to believe that.

Not anymore.

Because now…

I wasn’t alone.

I didn’t know how this would end.

But with Zephyr beside me…

I felt like I could finally fight back.

The ride back to Silverclaw Manor was silent.

My thoughts were too loud.

When we arrived, Zephyr opened the door for me.

“I’ll make sure my legal team handles this quickly,” he said. “Don’t worry.”

I gave him a small smile and stepped out.

But the moment I entered the mansion…

Everything inside me just… shut down.

Even when the maids prepared a new room for me…

I didn’t feel anything.

I threw myself onto the bed without even removing my coat or shoes.

I was exhausted.

Not just physically.

But mentally.

Emotionally.

Spiritually.

Everything hurt.

Sometimes…

I wished I could just sleep forever.

Never wake up again.

Just rest.

Finally.

But that kind of peace…

Never came to me.

Because the next morning—

Chaos erupted.

I had only stepped out to get water when I heard screaming.

A woman’s voice.

Loud.

Furious.

In less than ten minutes, the front door was broken.

A car flipped.

A golf club shattered.

Veronica.

My ex-mother-in-law.

Or technically…

Zephyr’s sister.

She looked insane.

Wild.

But I already knew why she was here.

“You bastard!” she screamed. “How dare you steal my son’s wife?!”

Her fist slammed into Zephyr’s face.

He didn’t even flinch.

I froze.

She found out already?

Was it Eleanor?

It had to be.

“Are you done?” Zephyr’s voice was cold.

That only made her angrier.

“You piece of shit!” she yelled, grabbing his collar. “Have you been eyeing her from the start?!”

She raised her hand again.

I couldn’t stay hidden anymore.

“Mother, please stop!” I rushed forward. “It’s not his fault!”

Her head snapped toward me.

Her eyes burned with fury.

“You fucking slut,” she spat. “How dare you call me mother after sleeping with your husband’s uncle?”

Before I could react—

She was in front of me.

Her hand yanked my hair hard.

I fell.

Pain shot through my scalp.

“Disgusting!” she screamed. “You’re the most disgusting woman I’ve ever seen!”

She raised the golf club.

“How many men have you slept with?!”

I covered my face instinctively.

Waiting.

For the blow.

But it never came.

A strong hand stopped it mid-air.

The club was ripped away and thrown aside.

Zephyr.

His grip tightened around Veronica’s wrist.

His eyes burned with rage.

“You break into my house—I don’t care,” he said coldly.

“You destroy my property—I don’t give a fuck.”

His voice dropped.

Deadly.

“But if you touch her again…”

“I’ll make sure you regret it, Veronica.”

The writer looked at me with compassionate eyes. She was on the verge of tears, unable to believe that the character she had imagined for years had finally come to life."I might not have the authority to choose the actor," Celeste said confidently, "but all I can say is… I think you would be perfect for my Elara."Gina, the vice director, nodded in agreement. "I don’t have much to say because your performance has exceeded my expectations, Mrs. Cole."Still immersed in the character’s emotions, I tried my best to wipe away the tears in my eyes, but a bright smile had already formed on my lips."Thank you," I said politely.Their compliments boosted my confidence and silenced the doubts that had been filling my head for the past few days.Matthew clapped again, grinning. "I rarely compliment actors during auditions, but right now my mouth would itch all day if I didn’t say this—you’ve made me want to see this movie right now."The producer, Diego West, couldn’t help but smile. "We can’

Even though five years had passed, my appearance still looked as young as before, and that was one of the advantages of being a werewolf. We weren’t immortal, but our aging process was three times slower than humans. That was why werewolf celebrities tended to have longer careers compared to ordinary humans.Unfortunately, I no longer had the same spark I used to carry. My appearance hadn’t changed, but the way I saw the world had shifted drastically. The wounds in my heart still hadn’t healed, and they made it difficult to keep my spirits up. Still, I refused to drown in that pain anymore. I had to try."I need to go first, Mrs. Cole," Gina said, patting my shoulder lightly before walking away. "I can’t wait to see your best performance."Right.I reminded myself of that as I watched her leave. I had come here for a reason—to give my best, to rebuild my career from the ground up.Today, I only needed to focus on myself. I needed to stand on equal ground with Zephyr someday.I made my

I had a really good sleep that night. For the first time in so long, I could sleep next to my mother again, her presence wrapping around me like a shield, giving me the kind of comfort I hadn’t realized I’d been missing all these years. When morning came, I led my parents to the dining room, where we met Zephyr’s entire family. They all seemed a bit anxious—especially Eleanor. It made sense. My parents recognized her as Rowan’s maternal grandmother. They had met her several times before my wedding, and things hadn’t exactly ended well."Mom, Dad… Eleanor is the one who helped me ruin Rowan’s business," I explained gently, hoping to ease the tension between them. Before either of them could respond, Ashley came running toward us, holding a plate of cake. Her small face lit up with excitement as she stopped in front of my parents."Hello! I’m Ashley!" she chirped happily. "This is for you. My mom says we should always give a welcoming cake to our staying guests."I watched as my mother’

Zephyr sat across from my parents, while I sat between them nervously. We had decided to move into Zephyr’s study room for more privacy, but the closed space made the atmosphere feel heavy and awkward. My mother’s eyes never left Zephyr as she spoke. "Explain your relationship with my daughter."I nudged her sleeve, whispering, "Mom, I told you—""No, not you, sweetie. I want him to answer it by himself."The last time she allowed me to defend my mate, the results had been disastrous. So this time, she wanted to judge Zephyr without my involvement.Across from us, Zephyr looked a bit stiff. His usual calm demeanor had vanished under the intensity of my mother’s gaze.It never occurred to me that my mother could make a strong and respected Alpha like Zephyr nervous. He cleared his throat before speaking. "I understand your concern, Mrs. Cole. My family issue is not something I am proud of, but I assure you, I don’t have any intention of hurting your daughter.""I marked Samantha to pro

A helicopter descended onto the private landing pad near the Silverclaw manor. As the helicopter door opened, my parents stepped out, their faces filled with anger and frustration. After hearing my cry through the phone, my father, Derek Cole, immediately rented a helicopter to fly from Velmoria City to Northbridge City. For five years, they had struggled to stay in touch with me after I married Rowan. They assumed I was simply busy and tried to be understanding of my situation. However, after learning the harsh truth, they finally realized the real reason I had never come home for so many years.Zephyr walked toward them as they descended from the helicopter. "Alpha Derek, Luna Hattie. I—""Where is my daughter?" my mother—Hattie Cole—immediately cut off his words. After knowing what Rowan had done to me, she couldn’t bear to see any of his family’s faces.Zephyr didn’t get angry over her attitude and tried to understand. "She is in the manor. Please, follow me."My mother exchanged

The judge said, "And the matter of assets and alimony will be addressed separately in the coming days."Mr. Anders quickly stood up. "Your Honor, if I may, I believe there are assets that should be addressed immediately."The judge said, "I understand your concerns, Mr. Anders. However, the court has already determined that such matters will be handled in the separated session due to complicated matters."The judge continued, "This decision ensures that all financial matters are reviewed thoroughly and fairly. Rushing this process would not serve justice."I could clearly see the tension on Mr. Anders’s face. He clenched his jaw, his fingers gripping his pen tightly. After receiving the hard blow to his business, Rowan must have wanted to secure all of his assets as soon as possible.Fortunately, the judge was a fair person, so he declined Mr. Anders’ suggestion without hesitation. Not long after, the judge’s gavel struck again. "Court dismissed."I immediately stood up from my chair
