“Wife, I swear…” Ronald’s voice dropped, hoarse and urgent as he stepped closer, his eyes filled with what looked like desperation. “I have always been loyal to you… to our marriage.”

He swallowed hard, as if the words themselves were difficult to say.

“So when Lydia confessed that she liked me, I made things clear immediately. I told her I was married, that I loved my wife very much, and that I had no intention of crossing any lines.”

His fingers curled slight

Not to mention South Garden wanting to laugh—even I couldn’t hold it in anymore.A soft chuckle slipped out of my lips."That’s just like Sarah," I said, shaking my head with a bitter smile. "Shrewish, domineering, selfish, vicious… and loud. Ronald used to cry to me about how hard it was for his mother to raise him alone."I paused, the irony sinking in."Now that I think about it…" I let out a faint sigh. "The house belongs to Lydia, right? So when something happens, the property management would contact her. Do you think she can tolerate Sarah making such a disgrace of herself?"South Garden smirked slightly, clearly amused."That’s exactly the point," he said. "Since she moved in, Ronald only visited her twice. The first time was during that flower-digging incident. The management did try to contact Lydia—but let’s be honest, someone like her? She wouldn’t deal with someone like Sarah personally.

“Based on my experience,” South Garden said, his expression turning serious as he studied me carefully, “I suspect Ronald already knows you’ve been monitoring or investigating him. He’s highly intelligent—and his counter-surveillance skills are far more advanced than you think.”He paused, then added quietly, “He probably knows more than we realize.”A soft chuckle escaped my lips, though there was no humor in it.“I expected this day to come,” I said calmly. “If Ronald were a fool, he wouldn’t have managed to deceive me for this long.”South Garden leaned forward slightly, his brows furrowing. “What do you plan to do, Kaidora? You’re in danger right now.”I tilted my head and smiled faintly. “Haven’t I always been?”He let out a short breath, almost amused. “You can still joke at a time like this. Your mentality is… impressive.”“There’s no other choice,” I replied. “I can only deal with things as they come… or let fate take its course.”South Garden studied me for a moment before as

Three days later, Micah contacted me.Her message popped up in our Whatsapp group chat, calm and professional as always:“Miss Kaidora, Lydia’s lawyer wants to settle this matter. Since we initiated the physical altercation, the other party is willing to drop the issue—as long as both sides agree not to pursue things further or cause trouble for each other again.”Settle? The moment I read that word, a cold laugh slipped from my lips.I typed back immediately:“Demands? What right does she have to make demands? She should be begging.”Tessy reacted even faster—and far more explosively.“Does the Snow family have any shame left?!” she blasted in the group chat. “Let her try acting arrogant again. I can get a few media accounts and completely ruin her reputation overnight! That bitch still thinks she’s in a position to negotiate? What a joke!”I leaned back against the couch, my eyes cold. Then I typed:“We refuse. Let her think carefully about why I hit her in the first place. If she w

Honestly… at this point in his performance, Ronald had even managed to “explain” every single line he said in that video back then.Every word.Every tone.Every disgusting detail. It was like watching a perfectly rehearsed play—seamlessly connecting the past to the present without a single flaw.According to him, he had been nothing more than a helpless victim from beginning to end.Crushed. Manipulated. And controlled by Lydia.I almost clapped for him.Truly.If acting were a profession he chose, he would’ve won awards by now.And now…here came the most important part.“Babe ,” Ronald said, his voice turning serious as he looked straight into my eyes, “ever since you found out about my affair with Lydia, I’ve completely cut ties with her.”His tone grew firmer, as if trying to convince not just me—but himself.“I told her that since everything is already exposed, I’m no longer afraid of her threatening me or using you against me. I said if she keeps pushing, I’ll go directly to her

“At that moment,” Ronald said, his voice low and strained, “I realized Lydia wasn’t joking. She was really outside our building. Her threat… it wasn’t empty. If I didn’t do exactly what she said, she would come straight to you and expose everything between us.”He paused, swallowing hard as if the memory itself was choking him.“Wife… your health wasn’t good back then. You were pregnant, weak… I didn’t dare let you find out. And honestly, I had no way to get a five-million-dollar loan from the bank in such a short time. I thought… maybe I could just deal with Lydia for a while.”His fingers curled into fists.“She’s rich. A woman like her—what man can’t she get? I told myself I was just a temporary amusement to her. Once she got bored, she’d let me go.”I stood there quietly, watching him perform.Calm. Detached.Almost… entertained. There was nothing surprising in his story. Nothing new. Just the same old script, dressed in different excuses.Ronald continued, “I used the money to re

Ronald claimed that Lydia had videos and photos of them together—intimate ones—as well as hotel records.Because of that, he said he had no choice. If he refused to meet her, she might lose control and come straight to their home, exposing everything. So in his version of the story, he wasn’t a willing participant. He was the victim. And I remembered that night clearly. After that phone call, Ronald didn’t even finish cooking the steak. The raw meat was still sitting on the counter, barely seasoned. He rushed out in a hurry, grabbing his coat, his expression tense and troubled. He told me there was an urgent client issue—something that needed his immediate attention.Back then, I believed him without question. In my eyes, Ronald had always been a responsible man—gentle, attentive, hardworking. Someone who took both his job and his family seriously. So I didn’t doubt him.Not even
