Chapter 35

Blaine walked down the hallway of the restroom into the fancy restaurant. His gaze fell on Delaney, but he slowed down in his pace.

The expression on her face got him worried. She held a phone to her ear, and she seemed to be in shock. When he looked closer, he saw that it was his phone she had placed on her ear.

"Fuck!" he mumbled as he hurried towards her, collecting the phone from her with one swift motion.

"Why did you... Who was it?" His eyes flicked, quickly darting to the phone's screen. His attention was drawn to the name on the phone's screen. 'Velda.'

A sharp thud resounded in his heart. "Oh, Velda." He tried to regain his cool and composure.

"Yes... Velda." She responded, studying his unsettling expression. She expected an explanation from him.

"What problem was Velda talking about?" Noticing his lack of response, she continued with her questioning. He retreated to his seat and swiftly downed the entire glass of water, purposefully avoiding any direct eye contact with her.
