Lillian’s POV

I tap my fingers on the desk for a couple of seconds before leaning back in my seat and nodding my head. “I don’t mind.”

She tilts her head at me, looking in disbelief and obviously silently questioning my answer.

“Really, I don’t mind.” I shrug my shoulders and straighten my seat before further expanding my answer, “I don’t mind, but… I just find it unnecessary.”

Tossing the invitation further from me, I add, “We don’t need to go. That part of my life is now behind me. I don’t need to attend and be there. I’m not even a close friend or family member of theirs.”

“You sure?” she asks, contemplating as she grabs for it and starts flipping and reading it.

“Maddox,” I try threatening calls, trying to stop her, but it’s her… so, that’s not useful.

So, she goes on and reads aloud, her voice syrupy and mocking. “‘Please join us as we celebrate the union of Alpha Keegan and Sienna Wallace…”

Then, she scoffs, “Huh! Bold of them to assume we’re available.”

Lillian’s POVStill a little bit of shock, and with barely any choice, by how she almost shoves the invitation into my hand, I accept it.Her gaze has this meaningful glint in it as she goes on, “I insisted you be invited. You’ve become such a big part of Keegan’s life.“It will feel incomplete without you,” she utters, a smirk or mockery making its way to her lips. It’s a declaration. I don’t understand why she always feels like she has to prove something when I have already made it clear to her a thousand times that I don’t care about either of them anymore and wish them all the best. But, of course, it doesn’t mean that I’m totally unbothered.Because even though her words are as sugary as her perfume, they still have this sharp edge that cuts a little on something deep within me.Subconsciously, I turn to glance at Keegan, who remains silent on her side. He doesn’t even look at me. No… Not even a flicker of acknowledgement. He almost looks like a solid, unreadable wall.Tapping th

Lillian’s POVThe scent of fresh paint, cement, and newly sanded wood clings to the air. The sunlight spills through the French windows installed around the sanctuary building, creating a warm and relaxing environment. The garden and landscaping are also already done. All in all, everything is perfect, and it’s now the official opening day of the Sisters Sanctuary.A woman’s voice echoes softly from the back hall, answering questions for a nervous teenager, while Maddox strides past me with a clipboard in one hand and a half-eaten muffin in the other. It’s real now… It’s open and operating. What I envision is no longer just an idea, but a reality. The entire sanctuary comprises three buildings: a safe house, a workshop, and a clinic. I stand in the middle of the hall, looking around the entire sanctuary, which is filled with people coming in and inquiring, making me feel like I am in a surreal reality. It’s a place carved out of stubborn willpower and late-night plans, and now… her

Keegan’s POVConvincing Alphas is like dragging stubborn pups uphill for training. One by one, I visit them. I push all of my schedules and important meetings for this. Even helping Sienna with our marriage preparation.I am faced with many scoldings from my family, but I just let it all be. In from one ear, out the other. I have my phone on silent as I travel from one pack to another. Each Alphas have their own ego and insecurities, wrapped in tradition and entitlement. I have to handle and work my way around various annoyances. They don’t say it outright, but I hear it in the way they speak her name like it’s dangerous.Lillian.Or the she-wolf currently known as the one who has brought chaos to the country and set fire in the system. It’s without a doubt that Lillian has grabbed their attention, and all their anger and doubt are in her right now. They call her many names, a few of which are: reckless, stable, ambitious, and unstable. To be fair, I also called her some names during

Lillian’s POVIt’s been a day, and yet, the council hasn’t sent their final and official approval. Although Craig already says I can proceed since it’s already half past, to start the operation of the sanctuary, it needs the official permit that the council is obviously taking time to release. But I’m done asking, and definitely done waiting for them. It’s clear that the majority of questions concern my proposal. Then… I’ll just have to push through it, do it, and make them see how wrong they are.So… without waiting for papers and shit, I made my move… We made our move.Maddox and I spend the next few days scouting the neutral strip of land between Moonstone and Oasis Pack. Turns out, when we arrive there, we learn that it’s a wild terrain. It’s flat in some parts, and wooded in others, but still… I find it perfect. It’s a common ground. And it’s unclaimed. Hence, it’s all ours if we dare to take it. Just a few pieces of paperwork and a substantial amount of money… and it will be of

Lillian’s POVThe meeting hasn’t even ended yet, nor has a decision been made, yet I already feel the weight of a thousand new expectations crashing down.Keegan’s words make everyone expect more of me, and I’ll have no room for any errors. It’s not like I’m not confident though. I know I can make it happen. But still, I know it will be challenging and with Alphas from the other packs from all over the place keeping their eyes on me and constantly waiting for me to make a mistake… it will not make it any easier. It will be like walking on thin ice every step of my way.The frustration I am feeling is intensifying every passing second. How does this thing become more chaotic every passing second? The idea is simple. I’ll build a sanctuary. A safe place for women. Somewhere they will not have to look over their shoulders or flinch at the sound of a door. But apparently, simplicity terrifies power. The safe haven I envision brings fears to people who know they are not doing enough.
