Chapter 31: Rogue Night (Valeria’s POV)

I slipped out of the dorm, my heart pounding like a war drum. The moon hung low, casting silver light over Sage Woods, and the air was thick with the scent of pine and danger.

My wolfsbane stash was gone—Cassian had found the vial, I was sure of it—and I needed more before my omega scent broke through.

Silo, the supplier near the abandoned greenhouse, was my only shot. I pulled my hood up, my blue uniform blending with the shadows, and darted toward the forest edge.

My Rank 22 status burned

The picture was not good.If Cain had been suspicious before, he now had something concrete to work with. He might not know exactly what the bond meant, but he knew there was something unusual between Cassian and me. That alone was dangerous."We need to talk," Cassian said, sitting across from me on the bed."We're talking.""I mean really talk." He leaned forward, his grey eyes sharp. "What does he know? What doesn't he know? What does the bond information give him that he didn't have before?"I ran the implications."He knows there's a connection between us. A strong one. He doesn't know what I am. He doesn't know I'm omega. He doesn't know I'm female.""But he suspects.""He always suspects." I pressed my palms against my knees. "The bond confirms something is being hidden. It gives him a direction to look."Cassian's jaw tightened."And the assessments?""He can probably connect those too. The scent exercises, the resonance tests, the way the results changed whenever I was near y

I asked Raven to meet me in Vesper's common room. She came, which meant she already knew what this was. She was dressed perfectly—dark green sweater, silver earrings, hair swept back like she had stepped out of a portrait. She sat across from me without a word, her hands folded in her lap.I didn't waste time."This is over, Raven."She didn't flinch. Didn't look surprised. Just watched me with those sharp eyes, waiting for more."It has not been what it should have been for longer than I've admitted," I continued, keeping my voice level. "You deserve someone who isn't performing. Someone who actually shows up. I haven't been that."Her fingers tightened slightly against each other, but her expression remained controlled."For how long have you known?" she asked."Known what?""That you were going to say this."I looked at her for a moment. "Long enough."Raven gave a quiet laugh. "That's not really an answer.""It's the only honest one I have."She leaned back in her chair and studie

  • Dominion Academy: Rise of The Omega    Chapter 121: The Hearing Approaches (Valeria’s POV)

Five days to the hearing.I ran the testimony preparation alone in the training yard at dawn, my breath fogging in the cold air. The sun hadn't risen yet, the sky still grey and uncertain. I practiced answers to the hardest questions—the ones about specific pack events, bloodline ceremonies, family members I'd fabricated.I had done this before. I built this identity from scratch. I could rebuild the parts the council was targeting.I just needed to not shake while I did it."Name.""Val Rhen.""Pack.""Ashgrave.""Father's name.""Alpha Marcus Rhen.""Mother's name.""Elise Rhen.""Date of your father's ascension.""Third moon of the year I turned ten.""Who presided?""Elder Marius. He died two years later."The questions continued. I answered each one. My voice was steady. My hands were not.I stopped pacing and pressed my palms together, trying to keep them from trembling."Where was the ceremony held?""The eastern hall.""Who stood beside your father?""His beta, Theron.""How m

"I found a book on mental warding," she said as we reviewed the hearing preparation. "It was in front of our door."We sat at my desk with papers spread between us. I looked up from the hearing documents. "What book?"She told me the title, then explained that there had been a note tucked inside. She handed me the note. It contained a single line in careful handwriting, instructing her to return the book to the Den Library within three days. There was no signature and no explanation.I recognized the handwriting immediately. I'd seen that handwriting on official academy documents and council reports countless times."Stay here," I said.Val looked at me. "Cassian—""I'll be back.""Where are you going?""To get some answers."I was already heading for the door before she could ask anything else. The Den Library was quiet at this hour. Most students avoided the place after evening study hours, leaving the enormous room almost completely empty. I made my way toward the back, where the o

  • Dominion Academy: Rise of The Omega    Chapter 119: Raven's Friendly Warning (Raven's POV)

I sat in the Vesper common room with the fire burning low and reviewed what I knew.Which was more than I had shown anyone. And less than I needed.I knew something was happening between Cassian Virex and his new roommate. I knew it from the way he'd stopped performing indifference at breakfast. I knew it from the way his eyes tracked Val Rhen across every room they shared. I'd seen the way he looked at Val. I'd seen the way he looked at me. The difference was impossible to miss.Cassian had always been good at hiding his emotions.Apparently, Val Rhen was the exception.I leaned back against the sofa and stared into the dying fire. That annoyed me more than it should have. Not because I wanted Cassian back. At least, that was what I kept telling myself. But because I hated not understanding something happening right in front of me.And Val was a mystery. What I didn't know was what Val Rhen actually was. Small alpha. Quiet alpha. Too disciplined for a first-year. Too careful for som

I met Lyra in her herb garden the way we always used to.The morning light filtered through the greenhouse glass, warm and golden, casting long shadows across the rows of plants. Lyra knelt among them, her fingers working the soil with practiced ease, her hair falling across her face. She looked up when I approached, her smile bright and immediate and so completely Lyra."Val! You came.""Of course I came." I sat on the stone bench beside her, the cold seeping through my clothes. "I always come.""I know." She laughed, brushing dirt from her hands. "I just—I missed this. Missed you. Missed everything being normal."I nodded with a smile. She didn't know. She couldn't know.I had given Lyra three false pieces of schedule information in the past four days. Each one had been absorbed with the warmth and love she'd always had. "Everything's fine now," she continued, turning back to her plants. "I'm back. We're together. That's all that matters.""Everything's fine," I echoed. She talke

The silence that hung between us wasn’t peaceful. It was thick, stiff and heavy in the very corners of the room like dust no one dared to sweep.Val didn’t answer my question.Didn’t even flinch.Just climbed into bed and pulled the blanket up like I hadn’t asked a damn thing. And that pissed the h

Raven tasted like cherry lip balm and something feminine. She was soft in the way I liked as we locked lips. Her fingers tangled in my hair, her body warm against mine as she shifted on my lap, lips trailing down my jaw. I let my head fall back against the wall, exhaling through my nose as her han

The night swallowed me whole. The moment my feet hit the dense forest beyond my father’s estate, I forced myself not to look back. The grand hall was suffocating.Rows of wolves in formal attire stood along the edges of the large room, their whispers moving through the air like a curse I couldn't shake. My father, Alpha Rhen, stood tall at the head of the room, his sharp gaze scanning the gathered pack members before settling
