LOGINEver since my father banished me from our Pack, I'd been running from one problem into another.
This time, I refused to get bullied again even if it meant joining hands with my old nemesis.
“Wait a minute. Are you sure you didn't hit your head somewhere, Little Pup? What business do you have with Draco Mayers? Are you seeking death!?” Gunter’s laughter bounced off the walls, his tone full of ridicule.
I waited until he was done before retrieving something from my bag.
To convince Gunter to help me find him, I didn't come empty-handed, already anticipating this reaction from him.
I dropped the picture in front of him, smiling gently as I said, “Draco and I are closer than you can imagine.”
Gunter’s pupils dilated in utter disbelief, his fingers trembling as he picked up the photo.
Blood drained from his face, and when he looked at me, he was no longer laughing. “Y-You… You, who the hell are you!?”
I wasn't interested in sharing any more details, so I stood up. “The sooner you find him, the faster you get your reward.”
Eyes now reflecting fear but also a look of awe, Gunter nodded silently.
When I left his office, I finally let out the breath I’d been holding all along, my borrowed confidence wavering.
That picture was enough to have Gunter on his toes, although there wasn't any significance attached to it.
I took the photo many years ago as evidence to break my engagement with Draco, but it didn't work that time.
How ironic.
The same photo happened to work in my favor now when I thought it was no longer useful.
I hadn't reached my apartment yet when my phone beeped with a text message.
From Gunter.
Attached to it was the location map of Draco. [You’re in luck, Little Pup. Draco Mayers happened to be in this city. I pulled a lot of stunts finding this information. Once you find your man, don't forget your promise to your dear uncle.]
I scoffed while dropping my phone.
He now admitted we were related. Hadn't he dismissed the topic when I mentioned our connection from my mother’s side?
Anyway, Gunter’s duplicity was the last thing on my mind. Now that Draco had been found, I couldn't waste a single minute.
Nightfall Hotel hosted only billionaires and celebrities. That was Draco’s location, and I must find a way to meet him.
However, when I arrived there, the scene I was met with was far from my expectations.
To say that the entire city had come here was an understatement.
Banners, flyers, and the hundreds of people chanting a celebrity’s name blocked the entrance.
The enormous metal gates were tightly shut, and several bodyguards patrolled the place.
No doubt, a celebrity happened to be here at the same time as Draco.
My heart dropped for a moment, but I refused to give up.
Crowd or no crowd. No obstacle could stop me from seeing him.
So I rolled up my sleeves, maneuvered through the crowd, careful enough not to get knocked down or stomped on. My small figure came in handy, and I was able to push through fast.
Finally, I stood in front of the enormous gates.
Looking up at the tall metals, my neck hurt from straining, and where the metals ended was barely visible under the burning sun.
Without thinking twice, I jumped and grasped the metals.
It had been years since I last trained, but my skills hadn't left me.
The metals were just like the rocky edges of a mountain, and all I needed was to get to the top.
As I climbed up, the roars from the crowd got louder. I didn't register what they were screaming about. I didn't care.
And I definitely didn't care about the security who had stepped forward from inside and shook the gates just so I could loosen my grip and get down.
My fingers clutched the metal tighter, my legs wrapped firmly around it. I didn't look down or stop climbing until I was all the way up.
Then I jumped—
In that intense moment, I forgot that I was now wolfless and couldn't shift. I forgot I was in the presence of hundreds of humans who weren't supposed to know of the werewolves’ existence.
My bones could be crushed from landing that hard. Instead, I landed in the arms of one of the bodyguards.
Everything was a blur for a moment until my racing heartbeat slowed down.
The bodyguard held me carefully, recognition flashing in his impassive eyes. And then he instantly dropped me on the ground.
“You—” I sprang to my feet.
But I paused in whatever I wanted to say next, realization dawning.
Not only did all the bodyguards look familiar, but also… that dark, intense, and mysterious aura surrounding them belonged to nobody else but…
Great!
Draco should be somewhere nearby.
In our world, all bodyguards belonging to mighty figures carried special marks recognized only by our kind.
One would know better not to mess with them as soon as you recognize who they answered to.
“What do you think you're doing, Miss?” One of the security men approached and grabbed my wrist immediately. “This hotel is under strict restrictions. No fans are allowed inside.”
I was about to tell him that I wasn't one of those fans outside. I wanted to explain my relationship with Draco and my reason for being here.
But the security man’s phone rang, interrupting me.
After answering the call, he quickly let go of my hand, his stern expression transforming into a smile.
“Hehe, I didn't realize, Miss. Please forgive my imprudence. Follow me. I'll lead the way.”
Baffled and yet relieved, I followed him inside the building.
Draco must have seen me from the surveillance cameras. He must have ordered them to take me inside.
The security man led me to a private waiting area. He even brought me refreshments, urging me to ask for whatever I wanted.
“Miss, although we haven't met before, I feel a special connection between us. If you can take me under your wings and make me your errand boy, I'll be very honored to serve you.”
Okay, that was weird.
I was starting to feel uncomfortable when, finally, the door opened and another person joined us.
Heart racing in anticipation, my fingers shook a bit as I dropped the glass of juice.
But when I looked up,
Instead of Draco, Kyle stood in front of me.
Aria’s POVWe were supposed to meet “Him” right? Why did Draco drag me back to my father’s place of all places?Just yesterday, the same man tried to kill me in the presence of half-entire the world. Draco was unpredictable, and inconsiderate.I got it that he gave no damn about my feelings… but please–A grab jolted me out of my thoughts; so tight and sudden the strong fingers instantly closed around my arm. I had no time to react when the person yanked me forward, causing me to collide into the hard frame of his body. My heart raced inside my chest. For a moment, I believed Draco had come out to annoy me more, only for me to lift my head… for my eyes to be met with familiar dark ones. This scumbag. What was he doing in this place?“So the Supreme Alpha’s daughter didn’t fire you after all…” Kyle’s lips lifted faintly. “I thought after stripping you naked, you would be thrown at the borders to be devoured by the rogues.”Urgh!I wriggled my hand to break free, rolling my eyes a
“Greetings to the Supreme Alpha. Father-in-law, it's a pleasure to meet you again.”When I approached and greeted, only the Supreme Alpha answered with a nod.As for Selene’s father, he stared daggers at me, his eyes flaming with anger. Selene sat beside him, silently lowering her head.“Kyle Sinclair, did I make a mistake by entrusting my daughter to you?” He asked, his voice low with controlled rage.My fingers curled by my sides. I loosened them before they clenched into fists. If he weren't Selene’s father, I wouldn't tolerate just anyone addressing me this way. After all, he was only a Beta.“Father-in-law, I’ll explain—”“What explanation is there to give?” He interrupted me. “Last night, everyone was at the ceremony except you guys. I later found out that it was because you took Selene to a dangerous place where she got poisoned!”I looked down, avoiding his eyes.So that was it.I worried too soon, thinking he'd summoned me because of that thing. From the looks of it, he hadn
Kyle’s POV I searched for almost half a day.I asked the hotel security to check the surveillance. No unusual activity detected.Which meant… it wasn't a normal abduction. My car was standing there, perfectly intact, with Selene inside it.Then she was gone.I couldn't recall having a feud with any of the supernatural beings recently. Who dared to abduct her?Frustrated, I paced back and forth in front of my car. Lost at what to do next, I dialed a contact.“Finally remembered me, Buddy?” Zane drawled, his voice heavy with intoxication.I sighed. “I need your help.”“You’ve asked for too many favors in a short time. Are you the great Kyle I used to know?”Right.Things just kept on going south ever since I stepped foot in this city.“Selene has gone missing.” Ignoring the taunting in his tone, I sighed. “She's too weak and fragile. And from the looks of it, the person who abducted her isn't ordinary.”“Hmmm.” Zane hummed faintly. “Now that's interesting. Who have you offended recentl
Draco’s gaze lingered on my features longer than necessary when I mentioned “Him.” But his eyes betrayed no emotion. If not, they were too focused as if reading through me.I kept a blank face, my posture steady, meeting his gaze with a calm intensity that masked my emotions.“Fine.” He stepped forward, lifting his fingers to wipe something from my lips. “Remember, Aria, whatever you do, do not bring a mess to this past.”His words were a warning. He might be sensing that I was about to land myself in trouble. But Draco underestimated me.“I'm not a troublemaker.”His lips twitched faintly with a hint of a smile. He opened his mouth to respond, and from all indications, he had the perfect comeback. In the end, he didn't say it due to mysterious reasons. Not because he cared about my feelings. We just finished bantering, right?“Go on.” He nodded towards the stairs. “I won't be waiting after ten minutes.”Ten minutes. That wasn't enough time for me to wash up and get ready. But my mi
Aria’s POVThe Next Morning. The rumbling in my stomach jolted me awake.I didn't eat throughout yesterday. Didn't even drink a drop of water. Now my stomach was rumbling like the drums of war, my vision so blurry I could faint from the intense hunger.I jumped down from the bed, slipped on my sleepers, and rushed straight downstairs.Didn't care about washing my face or even glancing at my messy appearance in the mirror. The rollercoaster of events yesterday, along with the conflict and drama, must have messed with my nervous system. The hunger wasn't just from lack of eating. Funny how I'd dropped asleep the moment we arrived home last night.“Good morning, Luna.” Many voices greeted me concurrently when I arrived downstairs. There seemed to be a lot of servants inside the house this morning,Which was weird. But I didn't stop to assess what was going on in my haste to reach the dining room as soon as possible.Luckily, the food was ready.I dug in as fast as I could despite feeling
Kyle's POV Damnit! I was late!Glancing at my wristwatch, a wave of anger and irritation surged through me.It was 10:00 PM. The ceremony was already over. Yet, here I was, waiting for Selene to wake up.Someone must have spiked her drink last night. One of those hungry bastards. Not only did they have the audacity to hurt my mate, but they also spiked my drink as well. I woke up this morning to find us both lying on the rooftop, side by side.Last night, I wanted to leave immediately after hearing about Dickson’s death. Those scumbags, however, urged us to stay.I should have known from the mischievous looks in their eyes that they were up to no good.Up to this time, Selene hadn't awakened yet. She'd slept for a whole day straight. That was weird.Did something else happen to her?I couldn't get my mind off that question even though the doctors had assured me;She was fine. Her system was just too weak to handle the potency of the intoxicant. Why was my mind still unsettled then?
Before I could react, one of the bodyguards pinned me by my arms against the wall. The other one brought out a pocket knife, flicking it open to reveal its sharp edges. My heart pounded in fear, my eyes darting to Kyle who held Selene close. “Cut it until she looks like the crazy woman she is,” H
The air shifted. For the first time since I walked into this room, something in Draco’s composure became still. Not cracked or broken. Just sharpened. His fingers, which had been resting lazily against the table, went still.“Fall?” He repeated quietly.I didn’t look away.“This marriage is transac
The number of security men guarding the place was far greater. Guests arrived in luxurious cars, and to gain entrance, one had to show their invitation cards.Great!Just great!I paced back and forth, wondering what to do next.I couldn't pull the same stunt as yesterday. First of all, I was weari
“Aria, you should be ashamed of yourself. Didn't you say that you've already let go? Making a fool of yourself just to grab his attention yesterday wasn't enough, you're here stalking him again.”“Do you think that Kyle would have looked at someone like you if he didn't need a cure for my illness?
