LOGINWe eat a delicious dessert and I drink a black coffee. When the evening is over, Cassio picks up the check for everyone and we get up to leave. That's when Annabelle makes her move.
"Arrabella, where do you live? We can take you home," she offers innocently.
In English Antoine says, "Yes, I wasn't thinking. Of course we could take you home. It's too late for you to be making your way home alone."
"I'll be fine. I can hail a cab," I insist, not wanting to make a fuss. I live no where near their hotel.
"No, we insist," Annabelle says, then looks to Antoine and says, "Don't let her say no."
"You heard my wife, we won't let you go home alone," Antoine says.
Cassio is watching the interaction and you can tell he's losing patience when he says, "I'll take her home. She lives closer to me."
"You know where she lives?" Annabelle says in broken English, stirring the pot. I'm surprised for a moment because I thought she couldn't speak a word.
"All employees in a company apartment are close to work," he says without emotion. He turns to me and says, "Let's go."
The way he speaks leaves no room to argue. I look back at Annabelle to see her smilling ridiculously big.
Outside, Cassio holds the door open for me like a gentlemen. I can't make eye contact with him as I slip into the car. I concentrate on gracefully entering the car so I don't make a fool of myself and I think I manage just fine.
I take a peak in Cassio's direction once he's seated beside me and he seems so unaffected by my presence that I feel like an idiot.
"You did a good job today with Annabelle. Thank you for stepping up," he says, looking at me assessingly.
"Of course, I'm a team player," I say lamely.
His mouth pulls up slightly on one side in a smile and my brain almost short circuits.
"You're okay doing this for the rest of the week?" He asks, as if he's not my boss and in charge of what I do.
"Yes. I like Annabelle."
"You understand you'll need take part in all of the social events this week as well?" he points out.
"Oh, all right. But not the fundraising gala at the end of the week right? I don't have an invitation for that, and it would be too late to get one now," I say.
"It might be too late to get a ticket but you can be my plus one," he says, scrolling his phone. He hands me a credit card and says, "Get yourself whatever you need and charge it to me."
I'm trying to think of what I can say to get out of this when the car lurches forward, slamming me back. Next, we take a sudden turn, throwing me to the side. I feel Cassio catch me but I don't have the time to be flustered since I'm all turned around.
"Hold still," I hear Cassio say calm and collected in my ear. The car keeps driving wildly and now that I'm secured on Cass's lap I can look outside to see what's happening. When I try to look behind us Cass stops me. He doesn't want me to look behind us which makes me think we're being chased.
"Are we going to be okay?" I ask. In fight or flight situations, I've always been fight. My senses heighten, and my heartbeat calms. I can feel everything come into focus.
"My driver will get us through this. Just hold still."
I nod and wait. With my mind focused, I can finally get over my physical reaction to Cassio. It's such a relief. I've never been the girl who turns into mush around boys and I wasn't liking how it felt. I have a whole new respect for those girls, it's completely out of their control and it sucks.
A loud bang and glass shattering sounds through the car and Cassio quickly shift us so I'm lying back accross the back seat and he is laying over me. He craddles my head protectively against his chest and whispers, "You'll be okay."
"I know," I say with conviction. I've seen, up close, how he works in the office. His undivided attention, his relentless focus and his need for perfection. His company's massive success is a reflection of his effort.
When the car hits another bump I instinctively grab onto his arm to steady myself. I can't deny he's well built.
We're touching in so many places and I can't deny the contact mixed with the adrenaline of the chase has me very turned on. Luckily, my head is finally screwed on straight and I can keep from being overwhelmed by him.
I don't know how long the car chase lasts but eventually the car slows into a normal pace and when Cassio sits us up, he pulls me up as well. I look around to see we are in an underground parking lot.
"We're at my place. We needed to get somewhere more secure then your place. We'll have to figure out more information about what just happened before we can let you go back to your apartment," he explains.
"Um, alright. Is it normal for you to be chased like that? I thought that only happened in movies?" I ask, not sure how I should be acting right now.
I follow him as he walks over to the elevators and after he presses the button he looks at me amused.
"You're handling this rather well for a first timer," he says, testing me and how I will react.
I flick my hair jockingly and say in a confident voice, "I'm a natural. Next time I'll be driving the car."
His mouth flicks up on one side again, in a small smile. "I'm hoping there won't be a next time. Let's go get the glass out of your hair."
The elevator opens and we ride up to the penthouse in silence.
When I don't step out when the door opens at the top, Cassio look back in confusion. He waves me forward and I take a tentative step into a world that I don't belong in.
We travel by private jet yet again, to join Cass's family for Christmas. Of course, we take the opportunity to accumulate points on our mile-high club memberships.By the time we land, Cass has me so relaxed that even on the car ride to his family home I can't bring myself to feel nervous. This time I have a better idea of what to expect, but I'm not sure if that makes it worse or better. I'm hoping that the kids being there will force the adults to all be on their best behaviour."So anything I should know about your family's Christmas traditions?" I ask.He shrugs and says, "Not much. We don't really keep up too many of the old traditions, but there is a lot of amazing food. I meant to ask, what are your religious views?""I was baptized Catholic but I stopped going to church years ago and I don't believe in anything," I say."Not even God?" he asks, surprised."For a while, I thought that maybe I believed there was a higher being. Really, I was not yet comfortable saying I didn't b
Cass deposits me on a chair by the kitchen island and I can tell by the look on Allegra's face that she's not amused. Cass takes the seat beside me and Ana places a black coffee in front of me and an espresso in front of Cass.Cass doesn't waste time on pleasantries and asks, "So why are you here?"Allegra looks pointedly at me, then back to Cass and says, "It's a sensitive topic.""If it's a sensitive topic that can be discussed in front of Valentina, then it can be discussed in front of Alexa as well," Cass says with an eye roll. He obviously isn't enjoying all this made-up drama."Since you insist on bringing Alexa into the family, Constantine thought it necessary to do a background check," she says as she dramatically tosses a folder on the island in front of Cass.I try not to laugh, thinking about how bored the P.I must have been while investigating my family. "Did you find anything good?" I ask, amused.Allegra ignores me and continues talking to Cass, "She's broke. She made a
I get home in the early morning hours and the sight of Alexa deep in sleep in my bed helps me let go of the last of my annoyance. I know I shouldn't wake her up, but after the night I've had, I can't stop myself. I watch her sleep as I pull off my clothes. I'm already hard by the time I slide in the bed behind.I'm beyond lucky that she sleeps naked because it makes moments like this possible. I wedge my c-ck between her butt cheeks and slowly grind against her. She softly moans and I can tell she's still mostly asleep but waking up.I feel a slight tinge of guilt that I'm waking her up in the dead of sleep. She's always been a very willing partner and it's Saturday morning so she can sleep in."Mmh. That feels nice," Alexa says with her eyes still closed. "Is this a dream?"I smile and whisper, "Go ahead and keep dreaming, I just need a quick fix.""Okay," she says, and I can't see her face but I know she's smiling gently.Just because I don't plan on taking long doesn't mean I'll le
It's a couple of weeks until Christmas, and I'm actually looking forward to returning home for the holidays. With Alexa by my side, my last visit was somewhat enjoyable, and I only see that improving as she gets more comfortable around my family. That being said, I'm still keeping the visit brief.Work at Ombra is going great but the family business has been stressful. I'm pissed that I have to spend the night away from Alexa to come in and hear about the latest f-ck up. I rushed into the office as soon as my second, a no-nonsense guy named Luca, called. He almost never needs me to come meet him in person and the fact that he didn't want to say anything over the phone means it's bad.We keep our offices in the back of a strip club that I prefer not to visit, in a part of town that I no longer belong to. Coming here makes me think back to when I was first exiled. I was heartbroken and lonely with something to prove. Looking back now, I see how far I've come. It's crazy that it took hav
Over the next couple of weeks, Cass has me sitting in on an increasing number of meetings to take notes. After the meetings, we'll usually do a debrief where he asks me a bunch of questions about the finer points of the meeting and my opinion on what the next steps should be. He's even had me write up a few preliminary drafts for proposals. This isn't normally part of my responsibilities as his assistant, but I can't say I don't enjoy the extra work. It's fascinating and much more challenging than my normal day-to-day tasks. We've gotten into the habit of eating lunch together in his office so that I can have time to ask questions and get clarification when needed.Today, we're eating a turkey, pesto sandwich when I finally feel the need to ask, "Why are you letting me do so much and being so patient with all my questions? I'm sure you could get this down so much faster."He puts down his sandwich and I appreciate that he's obviously taking this question seriously. "I think you have f
We arrive home just after lunch and I have the rest of the day to relax and do as I please. I was expecting to stay through lunch with Cass's family, so this was an unexpected boon. I'm not sure what changed our plans but I'm not complaining.I start walking in the direction of my room to put my things away but Cass grabs me around my waist and asks, "Where do you think you're going?"I look at him confused, and say, "To my room."He gives me a mischievous smile and pulls me with him in the direction of his room."You know I'm always ups for more sex, but you could at least give me a couple of minutes to put my stuff away before you pounce," I lightly joke.We get to his room and I'm immediately speechless. I walk around seeing my stuff placed all around his room the same way it was placed in mine, right down to the vibrator in the bedside drawer. My face turns a bit red when I notice that one, knowing that someone had to move it.I turn back to Cass with a questioning look, still una
