MasukA soft drizzle tapped against the high rise windows of the Vale Tower lounge, painting the city skyline in blurry streaks of light.
The room smelled of fresh-ground coffee, polished leather, and money.
Elias Vale sat on a sleek couch, ankle crossed over one knee, casually scrolling through a university forum on his tablet.
And then he stopped.
Moonvile Confessions - Post #4273
"Apparently someone tried to delete Lyra Moreno's project. LMAO she submitted it 3x, including one saved in her cat's collar. Iconic."He blinked.
Read it again.
Across the room,
Theo with a half eaten protein bar in hand, squinted over Elias's shoulder.
"Yo. What's this? Lyra? Like Lyra Moreno?"
Kade, dressed in black and always looking like he'd just come back from breaking into a private server room, walked in with a cup of cold brew.
"What did I miss? Who got deleted?"
Rio, lounging like a prince with a bag of caramel popcorn, sat up straight.
"Wait....is this about Lyra Moreno? Bro. I saw that thread. She backed up her presentation like she was prepping for a hostile takeover. Had timestamps. A version in her professor's inbox. Someone said her cat had a copy."
He kept scrolling.
Another post.
Another rumor.
Another screenshot this time of a blurry classroom pic showing Lyra in her hoodie, sipping whipped cream and completely unbothered as whispers circled around her.
"...someone tried to sabotage her but she walked in like nothing happened."
"Her cat has a USB drive???" "She didn't snitch. Just submitted a timestamped backup with a sarcastic subject line and disappeared."Rio said amazed"Queen behavior."
Kade choked on his coffee.
Kade: "Wait, wait, wait...so someone sabotaged her and she still beat them with... what? Organization and pettiness?"
"Yes,"
Elias murmured, eyes distant.
Theo snorted. "Legend."
Kade sat beside Elias and read over the tablet.
"Damn.Serenae and Jade tried to wipe her file off the system. Dirty."
"But Lyra didn't even call them out publicly," Rio added.
"She just submitted her backup and told the professor she 'forgot to mention' it. Then disappeared."
Kade whistled.
Theo grinned.
"Cold. I love her."
"You don't even know her," Elias muttered, but it came out... quieter than usual.
Theo raised a brow. "You do?"
Elias didn't answer.
Theo, sensing something, leaned back.
"You have been asking about her company lately."
"Because it's connected to a potential leak," Elias snapped.
Then, softer
"...and because people like her don't end up in people like Serene's crosshairs unless they're a threat."
A pause.
Theo nodded, unusually serious.
"We should do something."
Elias raised an eyebrow.
"She already handled it."
"Yeah," Kade said, sitting upright now.
"But that doesn't mean we shouldn't show we're watching. People don't try that crap again if they know someone powerful's got your back."
Theo smirked.
"Like a subtle warning."
Elias stared out the window.
"Something subtle," he echoed.
Then, after a long beat
"She plays the long game."
Elias remained silent, scrolling.
But his gaze had sharpened.
Focused.
There was a gleam of something rare in his eyes curiosity.
Rio noticed.
"Don't tell me you're interested now."
"I'm observing,"
Elias said calmly.
Kade smirked.
"That's what you said before you bought out an entire start-up to fire their board."
Theo folded his arms.
"So, what's the play?"
"She's clearly more than she appears," Elias said, tapping the edge of the tablet.
"She's quiet.
Sharp.
Too prepared for someone supposedly 'lazy.' And she doesn't chase recognition."
A pause.
"I want to meet her."
Kade raised a brow.
"You mean... officially?"
"Yes."
Rio leaned back.
"You've had chances."
"Not like this,"
Elias said.
"Now I know what she does when cornered."
Theo nodded slowly.
"Alright, so how?"
"Instead of meeting next month for dinner to finalize the engagement we're gonna do this tomorrow. "
Lyra Moreno was dangerous in the quiet way that made him want to know what else she was hiding.
And this time... he wasn't going to wait for a coincidence.
He was going to meet her...on his terms.
On the evening
The clock ticked softly in the background. Warm golden lamplight washed over the dark wood of the Vale estate's private study, where Celeste Vale sat, skimming through legal briefs with the kind of elegance that made CEOs fidget.
A soft knock.
Elias entered, crisp as ever in a tailored charcoal suit, expression unreadable but thoughtful.
Celeste looked up, eyes narrowing slightly in curiosity.
"Done terrorizing the board, darling?"
"Just giving them clarity," Elias replied smoothly.
"But I need a favor."
She tilted her head.
"You? Asking?"
He slid his hands into his pockets.
"I've decided to move forward with the engagement."
The silence that followed was brief but heavy.
Celeste slowly closed her folder.
"You're serious."
"I usually am."
"This isn't about company mergers or stock leverage. This is family. And you've avoided this conversation for a month."
"I've done my research," Elias said calmly, eyes gleaming with intent.
"Lyra Moreno may not be what she seems. That intrigues me."
Celeste leaned back, surprise flickering across her composed features.
"She's... not the type of girl you usually show interest in."
"Exactly."
"Then you're not doing this out of obligation?"
"I'm doing it because she's smart, detached, and completely unaffected by the noise around her. That makes her dangerous. Useful. And maybe..."
(he pauses)
"...interesting."
Celeste arched an elegant brow.
"You sound like you want to court her, not just marry her."
Elias shrugged.
"I'd like to know who I'm marrying. I'll play the game, but on my terms."
A faint smile curled on her lips.
"I'll contact your grandparents. They've been waiting for this."
"Schedule the family dinner," he said, already turning to leave.
"Keep it small. Controlled."
"And Lyra?"
"I'll handle Lyra."
Celeste watched her son go, eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
"Dangerous, detached, and unpredictable," she murmured.
"You might've just met your match."
Celeste looks at the Study room door that has long closed...
After a while, a genuine smile appeared on her face...
"We're going to be a family now, Laurin," Celeste said softly eyes teared..
“What do we do now, Liam? If Lyra has the real ring… what does she plan to do next?”Beatrice was growing more frantic by the second. The thought turned in her mind: If Lyra had the ring, that woman would surely be celebrating but if it turned out the ring was gone and she had nothing to show for it, Richard would never forgive her. He would be furious, and the punishment would be far worse than any loss of money. Her voice rose, shaking with fear.“It’s not just about the money anymore! If Richard finds out we lost the ring and sold a fake, he will blame me completely. He warned me not to touch it and now it’s gone. He won’t care about excuses he will make me pay for this, one way or another!”Liam stopped walking, his back rigid, and looked down the long corridor toward the far end of the ship. A cold, bitter smile touched his lips, though it held no warmth. He turned his gaze to Beatrice, his eyes sharp and cruel. He wanted nothing more than to snap at her right now, but he held bac
Beatrice gasped, stumbling back a step as if she had been struck. “What? That’s impossible! I kept it locked inside my personal safe for years! I took it out myself and handed it directly to the staff to prepare for the auction. How could it not be real?”Even she could barely believe it herself. She knew how tight the security on this ship was; guards were posted at every corridor, every entrance, and every deck, with surveillance cameras watching almost every corner. There was no way anyone could have gotten close enough to swap it without being seen… or so she had thought.“How could this have happened?” she whispered, her voice shaking with fear and disbelief. “Security here is so tight that there are guards everywhere and checks at every door. Who would dare do this? And how did they do it without anyone noticing?”Liam stared at the ring resting in his palm. It looked beautiful and flawless to anyone else’s eyes, but he knew it was nothing more than an expertly made copy. Beatri
He looked at them with polite curiosity, though his posture remained guarded and composed. He had known Liam for many years, ever since Liam began expanding his business interests overseas; their paths had crossed often enough to make them familiar acquaintances. Yet they had never been close friends, and Mr. Daley could not understand what could bring Liam to his private suite at this late hour, especially accompanied by a woman he did not recognize.“May I help you, Mr. Liam?” he asked calmly, his tone courteous but carrying a subtle edge of caution. “And who is the lady standing behind you? I believe we have not been formally introduced.”Liam offered a thin, practiced smile, the kind he used for business meetings, warm enough to put others at ease but revealing nothing of his true thoughts. Beneath that surface, however, his eyes remained cold, sharp, and searching, scanning the room as if already looking for something out of place.“Mr. Daley, it has indeed been a while,” he repl
“If I could not have happiness… if my life has been nothing but empty, miserable, and lonely since she died… then neither should they. That is the only reason any of this wealth and power matters now. That is the only goal I have left. I will ruin them. I will break them down, piece by piece, just like I was broken years ago. I will make sure they suffer every bit of pain I have carried all this time. And I will make sure that in the end, their lives are just as empty, just as miserable, and just as lonely as mine has been ever since Laurin left this world.”Beatrice had been searching for Liam ever since all the guests had boarded the ship and the auction had come to an end, but he was nowhere to be found. As time passed, irritation began to creep into her more and more….none of the plans they had carefully laid out had worked out as expected. Now, beneath her growing frustration, cold fear began to sink in. She needed to get that ring back, no matter what it took. If Richard ever di
Lyra turned slightly toward Yani, her voice calm and low, almost a whisper.“It’s quieter here. I didn’t want to go back to the room just yet… it feels too enclosed. Out here, at least the air moves.”Yani gave a small, respectful nod, her eyes scanning the room subtly to ensure no one was approaching too closely.“You did well tonight, Miss. Everything went exactly as you expected. Better, even. They never stood a chance.”A faint, knowing smile touched Lyra’s lips as she swirled the drink in her glass.“Beatrice and Liam have always been too greedy, too eager to see me fall. Greed makes people blind. They only saw what they wanted to see, that I would break, that I would spend everything just for a memory. They forgot that I know how to play this game better than anyone.”Not long after, Elias and his friends Kade, Rio, Theo, and Dren followed them there. They stayed well back, lingering near the entrance and at a far corner, careful not to draw attention or disturb her. They simply
Beatrice clenched her fists secretly, struggling to keep her composure. She leaned closer, lowering her voice so only Lyra could hear, though her tone was sharp and confused. “The ring… aren’t you going to get it back? Do you truly not care at all?” She couldn’t understand it. She knew better than anyone how important that ring was to Lyra. Ever since Laurin died, all her things had been kept safe inside the Moreno family home: her clothes, her books, her jewelry. Beatrice herself had taken possession of that ring years ago, hiding it away in her private safe. She had admired it countless times, even tried wearing it once, but Richard had caught her and flown into a terrifying rage. He had slapped her so hard she nearly fell, his eyes blazing with anger as he shouted. “Don’t ever touch anything that belonged to Laurin!” Since then, the ring had been hidden away. Liam had told her back then, “If any of the Moreno family ever wants it back, they will have to come to us. And one d
It was already ten in the morning, yet Lyra remained curled beneath the soft covers of their bed, the curtains only half-drawn as gentle sunlight filtered into the room, casting a warm, quiet glow across the space. The stillness lingered, peaceful, undisturbed…..until a soft, measured knock broke t
Lyra leaned back slightly, her eyes still fixed on the screen as she waited, the silence on the other end stretching just long enough to feel deliberate. A full minute passed, but she didn’t rush it. Patience was part of control. “Thinking…” she murmured softly to herself, her fingers idly tapping
Lyra was pulled back to the more immediate concern….her dress. Three gowns stood before her, each elegant, each carefully chosen, yet none quite right. She observed them in silence, her gaze sharp, assessing not beauty but function.“I don’t want anything tight around the legs,” she said plainly. “
Inside Lyra’s glass office, the atmosphere had shifted from quiet calm to focused tension. Yani, Rane, Sylas, and Korin were gathered around her desk, documents and digital layouts of the upcoming gala spread across the surface. The event was set for this Saturday, the exclusive gathering aboard th
