Chapter Two

Maya stared at her friend like she was crazy. Noor came closer to her hands still on her cheeks.

“Honestly I used to think the guy is inconsiderate and ungrateful but he has proved me wrong for the first time in his miserable life.”

“H…how?” Maya asked in a muffed voice. “Could you please let go of my cheeks they’re going to start hurting if you don’t.”

Noor realized that she was pressing hard on her cheeks and loosened her touch. “I have always told you that I hated the man and now you caught him doing the tango dance with his ex. We don’t even know how long that has been going on and I am least interested in knowing that. All I am glad about is…he is gone and gone for good this time. Maya, you deserve better than that coconut head. I mean you guys have been dating since when? College and not for once has he come to see your mom and tell her his intentions with you. He always came with excuses like he is busy with his promotion. Like hell we care! There are so many men out there with a lot of responsibilities but still make time for their girlfriends and wives. When you called me I thought you met with an accident. You almost gave me a heart attack for nothing,” she rolled her eyes at her laying on the bed facing the ceiling.

Maya was speechless with her mouth agape. She was not serious, wasn’t she?

“I am so happy Maya. Brad has given me the best news after a long and hard day at work. He finally dumped you. Wow! This calls for a celebration!” she clamped her hands with a grin on her face.

“NOOR!” Maya snapped hitting her with a cushion. “How could you? I just told you that Brad, my boyfriend of three years just cheated on me and you are happy with it. What is wrong with you?”

Noor rolled her eyes at her with a bored expression. “Is that why you want to kill me? Is this even a crying matter?”

“Yes it is! I love him Noor! We have been together for three years now!”

“Okay ma’am cry. I have bought you some sentiments to calm you down. I know you like this when you are emotional,” she grabbed her paper bags and took the stuff out. “Strawberries with chocolate and icing, your favorite champagne, lindit chocolate and your favorite flowers; orchids!” she placed them on the bed for her ravish.

Maya gave her a look. “Where are you coming from? And what about the other bags? What’s in them?”

“Oh those three? I don’t know,” Noor shrugged with pouted lips. “I found them outside your gate with your name in one of them.”

Curiosity got the best of her so she went ahead and opened the bags to find clothes packed in them. The girls shared looks as Maya found a note and silently read it.

The tears which had dried in her tears came again as she stared at the words written on the note. Due to her shaky hands the note fell down and she hugged herself letting the tears fall.

“Maya? Wh…what is it?” Noor retrieved the note and read it out. “ I think this is for the best Maya. There was never us in the first place. It was a delusion you made yourself. I don’t want to hurt anyone which is way it is best to let go of everything that has been between us for the past three years. I am going to be a father now. Hope you move on with your life too. Brad,” Noor scrunched the note and threw it across the room. “That jerk! How dare he? How dare he do this to you!”

“I feel so numb Noor. Like my body has just been injected by a poison. I can’t…I can’t breathe Noor. What do I do now? After everything I have done for him. After everything I went through for him. Noor, I think I am losing my mind. I am losing it Noor.”

“Shhhh! You will get over that trash soon enough baby. Just get yourself together. That jerk is not worth your precious tears at all. Don’t do this to yourself babe.”

“I loved him with all my honesty and my whole being. Noor, I made him what he is today. I secured him a job and now he is a managing director he dumps me over for his ex? What is wrong with me Noor? Am I not beautiful? I know I am fat but is it that embarrassing that no one would want to be with me?”

Noor hastily shook her head disagreeing with her. “No! Don’t you dare think like that Maya! Just don’t. You are beautiful woman. What do they call them? Yes BBW. You’re smart, intelligent and very much independent. You have the most flawless and glowing skin ever! Gosh don’t get me talking about those big beautiful eyes of yours that can make even the hardest hearts warm up. Your body is also sexy! Who cares babes? I don’t care, your mom doesn’t care and Brad is a jerk that doesn’t realize that he lost a diamond whilst counting stones. You’re Cheetos with cream cheese Maya.”

That finally made her crack a smile and earned a giggled from her. She sniffled wiping her eyes with her hands. “I love you Noor. You’re the best,” she pulled her into a hug.

“Oh babes I love you too. Now that you are going to be fine how about a girls night out. There’s this new club opening in the city. We should go by and check it out.”

Maya frowned. “Noor, you know I don’t like going out and I don’t drink or smoke.”

“No alcohol and smoke. I promise you that. I just want you breathe for some time and forget about Brad. Be young tonight and I know just the perfect outfit for that!” she jumped to the wardrobe and pulled out a lacey shoulder crop top and shorts for her and golden stilettos for her. “Now go freshen up honey. We are going out!”

“But….but Noor…”

“ No buts madam. Just go get changed alright! I will be waiting for you outside. I have to make a convincing story to aunt. See you,” Noor wiggled her eyebrows at her leaving the room.

Maya snorted looking at the outfit her just picked. “I have a bad feeling about this but I am going to do it anyway,” she mumbled walking to the bathroom to clean up.

❤️❤️❤️

The loud music, the cheering, the mass of bodies rubbing against each other and her, the neon lights and the smell of alcohol was just not her scene. She wanted to run away but her friend was not having any of that. Once she set her mind on something she was going to do it which meant she had to deal with this until her friend have enough of partying and fun.

Her feet were also killing her. The stilettos were not doing any justice either!

Noor finally found an empty booth for them. She immediately ordered cocktails for them.

“Are you relaxed?” she smiled and winked at her.

“Nooo! I want to go back home. I should be in my bed and watching Netflix instead of being her watching men hallowing at strippers and people making up in a freaking public place,” she stated queasily looking at a couple kissing in a booth near theirs.

Noor giggled shaking her head at her. “Oh my God Maya! How on earth can you still be so innocent after three years of a devoted relationship with Brad? This is normal in places like this.”

“I am just not used to it. Mind you I have what we call social anxiety. Places like this make me so small and out of place,” she replied.

Their drinks came and she closely looked at the colorful drink in front of her. She sniffed it and strong smell of alcohol hit her nostrils. She scrunched her nose and pushed the glass away.

“Come on now. Just chill and enjoy it. It’s actually nice and tasty. Just have a sip,” Noor encouraged pushed the glass back to her.

Maya hesitantly lifted the glass and took a sip of the drink. She nearly chocked when the liquor burnt her throat.

“God what’s in this?” she asked swallowing a lot of saliva to neutralize the strong mixture which was still lingering in her mouth and throat. “Crap! That’s crap!”

“What you just tasted there my dear is a cocktail. A mixture of different alcoholic drinks. A lot of them. Just take it slow while having it. You just keep….,” her phone ringing tone interrupted her. She took out the phone and see that it was her boyfriend. She excused herself to take the call.

“Hello Trey what’s up?”

“Babe, I got a little problem. My car just broke down in a middle of a highway. I don’t think I will find any mechanic anywhere nearby. Can you please come and get me?”

“Okay I will be right there. Give me roughly thirty minutes.”

“Okay. I love you babe.”

“I love you too,” she disconnected the call and immediately walked out forgetting to give any signal to Maya that she was going to pick up her boyfriend.

Back at the booth Maya glanced at her wristwatch. It has been a while since Noor left to answer her call and she was getting a little tipsy from the cocktail she has been drinking to keep herself busy while waiting for her to come back.

Deciding to play some games on her phone to pass some time she took out the iPhone and the wallpaper paper caught her eyes. The past and the recent events played in her mind once again like a movie.

She chocked on her tears while staring at the pictures and videos of hers and Brad. She was getting emotional again and the alcohol was making matters worse. She was a light weighed when it comes to alcohol which is why she doesn’t drink. Today was just a mistake. The whole place was closing in on her and she felt nauseous. She instantly grabbed her things to leave.

She stumbled as she walked. Afraid that she might fall and crack her skull and die she took off her heels and hugged them against her chest and maneuvered her way out of the crazy crowd on the dance floor. She kept on bumping and apologizing to people. Just when she was about to exit she bumped into a rock hard chest which sent her stumbling backwards in a fall.

Quickly a strong arm wrapped around her waist to prevent her from falling. She blinked her eyes trying to clear her blurry sight which was due to the tears and her eyes fell on the most handsome face she has ever seen in her entire life.

She froze and the beautiful specimen kept looking into her eyes with his misty grey ones. All of a sudden her body was starting to warm up.

“Are you okay ma’am?” came a deep and sexy husky voice that made her shudder with unknown and weird sensations.

She closed and opened her eyes and the handsome hunk was gone and replaced by Brad. She gasped and smiled like an idiot.

“Babe. It’s you. You came back. I knew you would come back Brad. I know you love me so much to leave me like that,” she settled her head on his chest hugging him like her life was dependent on him.

Christian Ambrose had just got the news from his father that he had to take over Ambrose Fashion company and he didn’t like the idea of it. He already had a lot on his plate. His shipping company and now he had to take care of the damn family business. Like who is he? What is he made of? Machines!

He just came back to have time for himself for at least a week but no! His parents were just taking a toll on him. First they were bothering him with the family business, second handling two big companies at the same time was going to be so nerve wracking and lastly marriage. They wanted him to get married.

The first two he can figure something out but the last one not quite. He doesn’t want to get married at all. With all the problems on him the last thing he needed was a drunk woman calling him her babe when all he wanted was come to this new club to have some fun. If his parents get a whiff of this they would immediately marry him off to this woman he knows nothing about.

Yeah that’s how crazy they are about him taking a wife.

And who the hell is Brad?

He looks at the woman hugging him like she had known him for ages. He tried to pry her hands away from him but she just won’t let go. Normal he would freak and get irritated by a woman’s touch. It was more like he had a bad reaction like an allergy to women but with this one he wasn’t feeling any form of discomfort whatsoever.

The woman lifted her head from his chest and looked up at him with pouted lips. If she wasn’t drunk he was have thought she was cute just like a puppy.

“I told Noor that you are best man in the entire world…no,” she stubbornly shook her head and smiled spreading her arms wide. “In the entire galaxy but she won’t believe me. Brad, please don’t ever leave me. I lwave you solo much,” she gave him a sullen face with tears starting to cloud in her eyes.

“God this is so awkward. Erm…could you please let go,” he tried to push her off but she held onto him. “Great! Just what I don’t need,” he threw his head backwards and let out a sigh then looked down at the woman who has gone limp on him. “You can’t be serious! She can’t possibly fall asleep on me!” he looked around hoping to find someone looking for their lost friend but he wasn’t finding any luck on that. He didn’t want to do it but he did it anyway.

He carried the sleeping and snoring woman into a bridal style and walked out of the lively club with her. He made his way to his car and laid her on the care seat and put the safety belt on her. He walked over to his seat and drove out of the parking lot of the club.
