Landon Lancaster

Having an employee kiss me on the first day I resumed as CEO was far from what I expected to happen.

The taste of her lips lingered longer than it should have. After she left, I couldn’t stop thinking about why she would do something like that.

Did she only kiss me because she wanted to get into my good graces? Was she trying to seduce me or what?

My mind raced with different thoughts. I contemplated calling her back to demand answers, but I just decided to wait until after office hours.

It was my first day and I wanted to be focused. I had a lot of files to read through because my father had handed over the company to me with the expectation that I would hit the ground running.

I couldn’t disappoint him.

We already had one disappointment in our family and that was enough.

A satisfied smirk plastered across my face when I heard that his relationship with Abby was over. But it wasn’t that easy to believe. My goal was to cause a rift between them and make sure they both had a difficult ultimatum, but I didn’t think they would give up so easily. For all I knew, Landon could be lying to my parents. I needed to hear it from Abby’s mouth, but I didn’t know how to ask her about it. Landon had been calling my phone throughout the day. He must’ve figured out that it was me who tipped of the board members and also found a way to start the gossip about their relationship at the office. I wasn’t ready for his confrontation, so I declined all his calls. I knew I couldn’t hide from him forever, but I wanted to stay away until he cooled down.
