I opened the door to Mirabel’s room and my stomach turned before my eyes even fully took it in. Clothes were thrown across the floor like some violent storm had passed through—dresses ripped, shoes kicked over, broken furniture splintered, wine spilled across the carpet, bedsheets twisted and tangled as if they’d been thrown down in anger or lust. And then it hit me—the smell. Leo and sex. His scent thick in the air, taunting me, invading my senses, stabbing straight through my chest. My heart felt like it stopped for a moment, then tore itself apart. The pain was raw. Sharp. Unforgiving.
“My mate and I had a little fun yesterday,” Mirabel said, stepping out of the shower, her body wrapped in only a towel. Her voice casual, cruelly casual, like she was talking about the weather, not a sex with my fated mate. “I’m moving into his room, but I wanted this one clean first. I heard you’re… so good at cleaning. Actually, it’s the only thing you’re good at.”
The towel slipped. She didn’t even bother me standing there, didn’t even acknowledge that I existed. She smiled, a smile meant to cut me open, and began drying herself as if I were a ghost in the room. “I don’t mind your staring,” she said softly, mocking me. “You are flat as an iron board… at least you get to see a body with curves. A real woman’s body. Something you’ll never have.”
She moved toward her dresser, selecting a dress, naked. “Oh, Leo… he loves my body. Couldn’t get enough of me last night,” she said, giggling, eyes gleaming with cruel satisfaction. “And he knows how to please a woman… Ah, I forgot, you’ll never know.”
She slip on a short dress without any undergarments. Then, without warning, she was on me. Her wolf speed made her blur past my frozen state. Hands around my throat, squeezing. Hard. Pain shot up my arms, down my chest, straight into my head. “If you ever fucking dreamed you could have my mate… to be his mistress… keep dreaming,” she hissed, her teeth flashing in a cruel grin. “I do not share. Don’t even dare look at him. I will destroy you.”
Her eyes bore into mine like daggers. “Am I understood?” she demanded, releasing me with a shove that left me gasping for air, my knees weak, trembling.
I nodded, too choked to speak.
“Good,” she said, laughing, tossing the soiled bedsheets at my face. The smell hit me immediately. Leo. His scent, sticky and sharp. And the stains on sheets were proof of his betrayal, proof that I wasn’t enough for him. Mirabel laughed cruely and left the room.My face burned with shame. My stomach lurched, and I ran to the toilet, vomiting, tasting bile and the lingering ghost of his scent in my mouth. Everywhere. I could not escape him here. Not in this room. Not anywhere.
Hours passed. I scrubbed, wiped, cleaned, the room becoming a sterile, sparkling lie of perfection under my frantic hands. My hands ached. My arms burned. My back throbbed. And still, every surface, every corner, every crevice screamed of him, of what he’d done, of what I had lost.
Then she came back. Mirabel, smiling softly, holding a glass of orange juice like some innocent child. “Oh, my dear, such lovely work,” she purred. And then—then she poured it. Orange liquid soaked the freshly changed sheets, droplets spreading across the carpet. She laughed. Light, airy, cruel.
“I’m so clumsy,” she said, feigning innocence, throwing handfuls of soil across the room, smearing it into the polished floors with her shoes, leaving tracks, marking me.
“Sorry… again,” she said, smirking. “But you’re such a darling. I’m sure you’ll fix it quickly.” And then she left. Leaving me to the endless cycle of scrubbing, of erasing the proof of her destruction, of my own failure to protect anything from her cruelty.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I left the room, collapsing slightly as I reached the servant’s break room to fetch my bag. Relief washed over me in a small, shallow wave, and I allowed myself a breath. Maybe I could leave now. Maybe I could retreat to my little world, my paint, my brushes, the only place I felt like I existed.
But it wasn’t over.
Mirabel came back, this time with pack warriors behind her, eyes blazing, fingers pointing at me like weapons.
“She’s the only one who entered my room,” she hissed, voice tight, sharp, furious.
I froze. My chest tightened, a cold, heavy weight pressing down on me. “What… what are you saying?” I whispered, fear cracking my voice.
The team leader shook his head slowly, pitying me, maybe. “Lexy is humble, honest… she couldn’t—”
“Are you saying your Luna lies?” Mirabel screamed, and suddenly I was nothing, small, helpless, powerless. One of the warriors ripped open my bag, throwing everything onto the floor—phone, lipstick, crumpled notes, tissues… and something else.
A glitter caught the light. An earring, sharp and luxurious, large diamonds shinning bright. I had never seen it. Never.
Mirabel picked it up, turning to me, eyes burning holes into my chest. “I know you need money for school, but stealing? Even for you, that’s… low.”
I shook my head violently. “I didn’t take it! Someone… someone planted it in my bag! To frame me! Please, you have to believe me!” My voice was cracking, panic rising, tears threatening to spill.
She spat on the floor, venom dripping. “Liar. Thief.” She gestured to the warriors. “Take her to the dungeon.”
I screamed, begged, clawed at the air, but they seized me. Rough hands gripped me, dragged me through the halls, ignoring my thrashing, my screaming, my pleading. My stomach dropped. My chest tightened. My mind raced, trying to hold onto something, anything, that told me I wasn’t completely finished, completely broken.
But the dungeon walls trapped me, dark and cold, and I realized with a sick, sinking certainty that there was no one to save me. Not Leo, not my so-called family. Not anyone. And in that darkness, I understood the truth: I was stripped out of my dignity and alone, utterly, painfully, unforgivably alone.
I helped Mia blow out the candles on her birthday cake.It was her first birthday, and her large brown eyes were wide with wonder as she took in the enormous cake and the garden, which was decorated with shimmering balloons, fairy lights, and, of course, her favorite Minnie Mouse characters.Next to her sat her cousin, Jessica, the daughter of Alyssa and Joe. She looked almost like Mia's twin—sharing the same ginger locks and fair skin. The only difference was that Mia was slightly taller and had a slightly higher forehead. It was no surprise they looked so much alike; Alyssa and I could pass for twins ourselves, and their fathers were cousins who shared similar features.Samantha and Matteo’s twins were right next to the girls. Their daughter, Clarissa, was also nearly one, but she was a true lady—composed and sweet—while little Brian was full of mischief. He only behaved in rare moments like this, specifically when he was near Leonarda, the daughter of Arabella and Leo. Brian cared
“The pup is coming!” Eilyul shouted cheerfully, her voice echoing with a mix of excitement and urgency. “Ahhh!” I screamed as another contraction ripped through me. Finally, Sebastian came to his senses. He scooped me into his arms, his movements a blur of alpha strength, and rushed me toward the clinic. Every second felt like an eternity; the contractions were growing stronger and the pain was becoming unbearable. Sweat poured down my forehead, stinging my eyes. I hadn't even begun to push yet, but my body was already in agony. Was it because I was destined to die, or did every childbirth feel like this—as if my soul were being torn apart? Everything became a blur. White hospital walls. Muffled voices that sounded like they were underwater. I caught glimpses of Sebastian’s terrified face; his lip trembled, but his hand squeezed mine with desperate reassurance. I don't know if minutes passed or hours. I had lost all track of time when the doctor’s sharp voice finally pierced t
Alexandra’s POVDays turned into weeks, blending together in a haze of golden afternoons and quiet evenings. As my baby bump grew rapidly, stretching my skin with the weight of our growing pup, I found myself sinking into a state of blissful nesting. I simply enjoyed the pregnancy, the fluttering kicks within me, and the precious time spent with my mate and family. I felt a sense of peace I hadn't known in years. I could not say the same for Sebastian. He was a man possessed, desperately trying to find a way to break the ancient curse that loomed over us like a guillotine. I watched him grow more haggard and furious each time he hit a dead end. One evening, I found him sitting in the dim light of his study, eyes bloodshot and staring at the blue light of his monitor. Ancient, leather-bound books were propped open, their brittle pages smelling of dust and forgotten secrets, while notes written in his frantic scrawl were scattered across his mahogany desk.“Not again!” he roared in frus
Alexandra’s POV“I am sorry, kitten,” muttered Sebastian, lying in the bed next to me and kissing my cheek. “I lost count of time.”His mouth moved to my jaw. “Now I am ready for some promised fun.”I giggled and whispered, “I will be back in a minute.”I used the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and combed my hair.“Now I am going—” I said in a sultry voice, approaching the bed and swaying my hips, but I did not finish the sentence as Sebastian was already asleep.I sighed and pulled the covers over him. He was exhausted. The doctor’s appointment was in two hours. I got dressed and went to paint on the balcony.I lost track of time, pulled fully into the world of paint and brushes.“Beautiful painting,” Sebastian startled me.I turned to find him standing at the balcony door in jeans and a simple black t-shirt, barefoot, holding a cup of coffee. His messy brown hair shone under the sunlight, accompanied by a wild grin.Irresistible. Gorgeous. Mine.My heart clenched. He would not be mine
Alexandra’s POVSebastian's warm embrace—his support and the way he suppressed his fury just to comfort me—completely undid me. I leaned into his chest and began to sob quietly. It wasn't the loud, dramatic kind of crying; it was that exhausted, shaky breath you take when you're finally done holding it all together. Watching him scramble for answers hurt more than the curse itself. He was looking for a door to open, and all I could see was a brick wall."I’m sorry, I’m so sorry... I just didn't want to upset you. I wanted to enjoy my last few months with you," I mumbled into his shirt. He brushed my tears away with his finger and kissed my eyelids. "We will find a way to break this curse, Alex. Everything is going to be alright."I smiled and kissed him gently. I didn't want to object or argue with him. Deep down, I already knew I had lost this battle before it even began. This curse wasn't something that could be broken by sheer will, but I couldn't bring myself to crush his spirit.
Sebastian's POV I was sitting in my study with Julian, reviewing new product proposals and some pack documents.Hours passed, the Omega arrived with snacks and drinks—we had worked straight through breakfast and lunch today. I closed the folders, rubbing the bridge of my nose before piling a plate high with sandwiches.“How is mated life, Alpha?” Julian asked with a wicked grin.“I feel bad that I’ve been buried in work these past weeks and haven't taken Alex on a honeymoon. We’ll definitely go after the birth. Otherwise, everything feels right… like she’s always been mine. However, Alex has started to act differently. I’m assuming it’s the pregnancy hormones,” I replied.Julian rolled his eyes. “Tell me about it. Samantha is always moody—craving weird food, crying one second and smiling the next. She's insatiable, too.”“No… It's not that. Alexandra acts like she’s hungry to live. She’s painting all night when inspiration hits, trying new classes, and picking up strange hobbies. On
Alexandra’s POV I have opened my eyes. I was alone in a large bed in the place I did not recognise. Outside in the panoramic window, I could see ocean and seagulls circling in the sky, hoping to catch fish. My body was aching, and I could not reach Eilyul.
Sebastian’s POV We walked down to the underground dungeon. The light flickered against the damp walls, adding an even more dangerous, almost suffocating atmosphere. The air was thick with tension and the stench of old fear. Laura hadn’t been lying—the cells were empt
Sebastian's POV Two hours seemed to be an eternity for me. Each minute dragged like a lifetime. Our two hours of mobilisation forced could be two hours of Alexandra’s torture, and the thought was eating me alive. I was in the first SUV with Julian and Joe, paler then
Sebastian’s POV I tried to compose myself, but the storm inside me was already raging, clawing to break free. My pulse was pounding in my ears, and even the air around me felt heavy with tension. Julian was gathering allies in the conference room at the venue, and I—damn it—I
