Chapter 3

Alex was the first wolf they caught up to. He was surprised to see their neighbor warriors. He wouldn't complain, though. It was always good to have help in situations like these. Jett just thought they'd see Nir's warriors first. Even the Dynamic Pack seemed to be wanting to take action. Yet the ones who came first were the ones they least expected.

He couldn't help but be impressed by their fighting skills. The group fought so well together. It was as if they were all the same body, just different limbs. As time went on, and the day turned into night, even Jett's warriors had taken a liking to them. It was always best to fight as a group. With all the warriors from the other packs coming to aid them, the last of the hunters were easy pickings.

They weren't keeping any alive. Jett would have to apologize to Alpha Nir later, but it was too dangerous to try and capture these murderers. They ran the rest of the day, scouring the forest for their enemies. Even though the Reverence warriors were easier to spot due to their lighter coats, they knew how to hide well in the shadows. Their speed also helped in battle when their size couldn't.

"That's the last of them," Alex said. His wolf gave a giant sigh as it looked over all the dead bodies. They had killed roughly twenty of them. As much as it was nice to fight with all of his neighbors by his side, he was glad to be rid of the pests.

"Good," he said. "Escort the Noble warriors home. I'll get Manny to escort the Dynamic warriors." It was a sign of respect and thanks for them to escort all the warriors to their home territory. That way they made sure that they got home safe as well. After a long days work, he was sure that all of them were exhausted.

"And the Reverence warriors?" Alex asked.

"I'll escort them with some of our warrior's assistance," He told his Beta. After a quick nod, Alex left with the warriors from the north. Jett turned to brown wolves that had assisted him for most of the day. "Thank you for your help. We'll escort you back to your territory."

Shiro nodded his understanding and followed him as he led them again. They were the closest pack to them. The Dynamic pack, to the west, had their packhouse closer to the Noble pack territory. That's just how it was designed by their ancestors a long, long time ago.

It didn't take much time to get to the border of their pack. Jett was already missing running with the wolf. He wanted to get to know him more, and he wanted to fight with him by his side more often. But he knew that it might be a long time before something like this happened again.

He had all of his warriors halt at the territory lines as their neighbors bowed their heads and left for home.

One thing that was in eye shot when he looked into the Reverence territory was a shed. All of the warriors in the group that had fought with him went in there instead of running off into the trees of their home. Jett sent his warriors off. They were all exhausted from the long day. They all needed to rest and celebrate the safety of their homes with their families.

But Jett stayed behind. He watched the shed, too curious to look away. He was sure that his pack was worried about him. His sister would be throwing a fit as soon as she saw the warriors that were with him coming home without their Alpha. But they could wait a little longer.

The moon was bright in that small clearing. The clouds allowed him to see, if not for just a minute or two. Knowing how the weather was, it wouldn't be too long before they would cover up the night sky again.

The first one to come out of the shed was a man with dark eyes. His long black hair shimmered in the moonlight, falling way below his shoulders. It was easy to see it against the white robes that he had put on. He was short, and his build was lean, but Jett could see the muscles on those slender arms. The robes were baggy, tied together only by a simple cloth belt at the waist, but it couldn't hide the strength that the man had.

More of the warriors came out, all in similar robes. But Jett couldn't focus on any of them. All his eyes would fall on were the dark ones that scanned the area protectively. He made for a good warrior, even in his human form. Even though Jett was in the shadows, the man found him easily. He thought that he was going to get mad that he had stayed. An escort was only until they had reached their territory, after all. But, instead, he saw a smile on that mysterious face.

"Thank you for guarding us at our weakest, Alpha Jett," the man bowed in respect. His voice was the same smooth one that he had in the mind link. It soothed him for some reason, and tried to pull him closer at the same time. "May the Spirit of the Moon shine her blessings onto you."

They left at that. He probably should have run for home too. But something made him want to stay. Something made him want to go over that invisible border and follow them. Those dark brown eyes that had found him so quickly reminded him of the Reverence Pack as a whole. They were full of mystery and a knowledge that no one else had.

The more he thought about it, the more he wished to solve that mystery.

"I wish the same to you," he thought to himself. "Shiro of the Reverence Pack."
