Chapter 13Coming of Age Two weeks later Sage was sitting in a dark room with three computers humming. She watched as her printer spit out page after page of her report that she needed to give her contact. The room had a faint smell of flowers, and the place was littered with water bottles. In a crystal vase held some old flowers that look like they could be dried. On her desk, there were two pictures. One with her mom and one with her dad. The Awakening Sage had walked the darkened path toward her house just like the last night, but this time she was going to be ready for anything. She made sure she had her gun in her back holster that her dad had bought her. At her hip, she had a great set of butterfly knives that had belonged to her mother. Aftermath of Evil Jared didn’t move from Sage’s side.“Excuse me, sir. I can’t get to your friend with you standing in the way.” Dr. Raymond stood there staring at Jared waiting for him to move. Jared only took two steps to the left and said nothing. “One thing Doc, she screams you die.” Replied Jared as he stared into the doc’s eyes. The doctor stared at Jared for a second, then with a gulp, he started to bark out orders for an IV and x-ray and a bunch of painkillers. The nurses and tech went running at the sound of his voice, but he didn’t scare Jared. Darkness Falls Mary looked outside only to see darkness. She had gotten home from work and went straight up toward her attic. The Evil Inside Sage was in her room looking through the few things her mother had left her. Sage had come across a small wooden box that had been hand carved. She traced a small patterned on the side, pressed a hidden latch, opening the box. Inside the old hand-carved wooden box sat an old crystal, yellowed with age decor. There was an emerald on it with a large crack in it, but Sage could feel the power that came from off. A folded piece of paper lay underneath the crystal, pulling it out she could tell that the crystal was very important. Pulling the paper out Sage sat down to read it. The letter was addressed to her father. She could feel her mother as she read each word. She had written about the piece of crystal that had been scattered across time, and the only way to keep it safe was to send it to others with power like her mother's. The Good Nurse The hospital was teeming with people. Mary was standing in the middle of it all. She had been seeing evil at every turn. Unsure of what to do she had planned to help rid her town of any evil, and she was going to start with the people she saw every day. Standing back in the shadow of the nursing station she watched as Dr. Anderson ripped a nurse a new ass for making a simple mistake. Mary knew that she had to make an example out of him and soon. Mary slipped into the med room to check on supplies for the floor. That’s when she saw a compact open and pills spilled all over the floor. Thinking that it was one of the younger nurses she had to turn this around on Dr. Anderson but how she wasn’t sure yet. That is when she heard a code called. Doctors and nurses went running past her stopping at bay 15. That was one 48-year-old male that had a heart attack in the Walmart up the street. Mary knew the man well. His mother had died four years before, and he was never married.
