The bitter smile on Todd's face deepened. He nodded, his voice so low it was almost inaudible.

"You're right. That far away...even if they could bring me back, it probably wouldn't be..."

He reached into his cigarette pack again.

Liam snatched the cigarette from his fingers and stuck it between his own teeth, staring at him, his voice hoarse. "If you dare not come back alive, then don't show up in my dreams either."

"How could that work?" Todd looked at the cigarette between Liam's lips and tugged at the corner of his mouth. "If I can't see you in real life, you're saying I'm not even allowed to see you in my dreams?"

Liam lifted his gaze. Their eyes met.

Suddenly, Todd stepped forward and pulled Liam into a tight embrace, his arms locking firmly around him. His voice was muffled against Liam's shoulder.
