Nora’s pov

Life inside the Castellano mansion settled into a quiet, structured routine over the next two weeks.

Every morning at nine, Leo and I would meet in the music room. Instead of forcing rigid lessons or drill exercises, I sat beside him on the long mahogany bench, letting him take the lead. I played gentle, rolling chords while teaching him simple songs, singing low and soft about bright rivers and distant stars.

Instead of asking him to speak or tell me stories, I used music as our bridge. When I played a questioning phrase on the high keys, he would smile and press a low note to answer me. He wasn't talking yet, but his silence no longer felt like a wall, it felt like a quiet room where we were slowly building trust.

When he hit a clean harmony or remembered a rhythm, a tiny dimple would show on his left cheek, and he would let out that breathy, silent laugh that warmed my entire heart.

One warm morning, as the sunlight streamed through the tall windows and washed over the black Steinway, I felt a shadow fall across the doorway.

I didn't stop playing, but I glanced at the reflection in the polished black wood of the music stand.

Luca was leaning against the heavy oak frame. He had discarded his dark suit jacket, wearing only a white dress shirt with the top buttons undone, revealing the edge of the coiled serpent tattoo on his throat. He wasn't holding his usual leather folders or looking at his phone. He was just watching us.

When the final note faded into the quiet room, Leo clapped his small hands together twice, nudging my elbow for another song.

"You're usually at your office by now," I said softly, looking over my shoulder at Luca.

Luca walked over to the piano, stopping right behind the bench. He reached out, his broad hand resting lightly on top of Leo’s dark hair. Leo didn't shrink away; he leaned his head back against his uncle's arm.

Luca’s grey eyes moved from his nephew down to me, resting for a beat on the platinum ring on my left hand.

"Gable told me about his progress," Luca said, his deep voice holding a low, quiet weight. "Starting this week, your monthly salary will be raised by fifty thousand."

I paused, my hands dropping from the keys. "Luca, no. That’s far too much. You are already paying for my mother's private room and her entire medical team. I’m just doing the job I was hired for."

"You are doing far more than what was on paper," he said smoothly, leaning down slightly so his breath brushed my collarbone. "In my world, when someone delivers value like this, they are compensated. It’s settled."

Before I could object, he gave Leo a firm pat on the shoulder and walked out of the room, his long stride echo-ing down the hall.

Whenever I watched Luca interact with Leo, I couldn't help but compare it to how Sebastian and his family used to act.

Back when I lived with Sebastian, his sister would often drop her young son off at our tiny apartment without warning. Sebastian’s family treated the boy like an inconvenience, barking orders at him to sit still and keep quiet so he wouldn't interrupt their evenings. Sebastian himself would lock his study door the moment the boy started crying, leaving me to cook, clean, and manage a hysterical child all by myself while Sebastian complained that I wasn't paying enough attention to his needs.

Here, despite the dangerous world he ran, Luca looked at Leo like he was the only thing that mattered.

  • Dumped by My Ex, I Married the Mafia Boss   Chapter 11

Nora’s povI couldn't sleep. My mind was a whirlwind of emerald silk, dark red wine, and the low, possessive authority in Luca's voice when he claimed me as his wife before the entire city.By two in the morning, needing a glass of warm water to settle my racing thoughts, I padded down the quiet corridor of the second floor. As I passed the arched entryway leading toward the master wing's upper terrace, I noticed a door sitting slightly ajar. A soft, amber glow spilled across the hardwood floor, accompanied by the steady, low rushing of water.Believing a faucet had been left running, I stepped closer and gently pushed the door open. "Luca? Is everything okay—"The words froze in my throat. It wasn't a kitchenette or a hallway utility room. It was a sprawling, steam-filled marble bathroom. Standing before a massive vanity, his upper body completely bare, was Luca. The thick mist hung in the air, smelling of pine wood, dark cedar, and warm sea salt. He had just stepped out of the bath,

Nora’s pov"Mr. Castellano! Please, excuse my fiancée's clumsiness," Sebastian stammered, his voice laced with sickening, obsequious flatteries. "It was an absolute accident. Truly! As for this woman—" He cast a cold, detached glance at me, his eyes entirely devoid of warmth or recognition. "I don't know who she is, sir. She must have slipped past security or worked her way in through the catering staff. Please, don't let a common nobody ruin your evening."He claimed he didn't know me.After three years of my life given to him, after all his desperate threats in the dark just hours ago, he stood under the crystal chandeliers and publicly denied my existence to curry favor with the man holding the city's power.A few guests gasped. Cassandra’s smirk widened, believing she had won.Luca didn't move. He didn't even look down at the stain on my dress. Slowly, deliberately, he shifted his weight, pulling me closer against his side until his broad shoulder shielded me from the stares of th

Nora’s povThe grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was a sea of crystal chandeliers, flowing champagne, and old money. The air hummed with soft orchestral music and discreet, high-society gossip.I wore a floor-length emerald silk dress tailored to perfection, paired with the dark sapphire and diamond set Luca had gifted me. My hair was swept into an elegant low bun.As Luca walked in with my hand resting securely on his arm, the room subtly shifted. Conversations faltered. Heads turned."Who is she?" a woman whispered nearby, touching her pearl necklace. "Is that... Luca Castellano's wife?""She's stunning," an older gentleman murmured to his associate. "I've never seen him bring anyone to a public event before."Compliments showered us from all sides as prominent figures stepped forward to greet Luca. He accepted their nods with cold, measured politeness, but whenever he introduced me, his hand tightened firmly around mine."My wife, Nora," he said clearly, leaving no room for questio

Nora's POVThe following evening, I was working my second part-time gig, assisting with ambient piano arrangements at a private gallery opening downtown. I was exhausted, my hands aching from the keys, but the sting of Sebastian's threats weighed heavier than my physical fatigue. As I stepped into the dimly lit side foyer to pack my sheet music, the heavy brass doors clicked open.Sebastian walked in, accompanied by Cassandra. He had been tracking my schedules, using his network to follow my movements."Still ignoring my calls, Nora?" Sebastian asked, walking up to the grand piano with an arrogant, unhurried stride. He gestured casually to the glass of champagne in his hand. "I gave you twenty-four hours to think about my offer. Your mother's chart is on my desk. One word from me to the hospital board, and her private suite gets canceled."Cassandra sneered, looking down at my simple black dress and scuffed flats. "Look at her, Sebastian. She's practically begging on her knees already

Nora’s povHe took a deliberate step closer, his eyes narrowing as he scanned my face. "Don't take that tone with me, Nora," he sneered, his voice dropping low enough so the surrounding patrons couldn't hear. "I know how desperate you are, your mother’s treatments are draining every penny you have."I gripped the back of a mahogany chair to steady my hands. The sting of his past betrayal fresh in my mind made the air in the lounge feel suffocating.Three years ago, when Sebastian and I met in college, he had promised me the world. I worked two jobs to support him while he finished his finance degree, cooking his meals, doing his laundry, and holding his hand through every stress-filled night. But the moment he landed a junior role at a high-profile firm, my humble background became an embarrassment to him. When Cassandra showed an interest in him, Sebastian didn't hesitate. He callously discarded our three-year relationship overnight, eager to climb the social ladder by tying himself

  • Dumped by My Ex, I Married the Mafia Boss   Chapter 6

Nora’s povThe morning after Leo spoke his first words, the atmosphere in the mansion felt fundamentally altered. The lingering heavy silence that had hung over the halls for months seemed to lift. When I walked into the study to thank Luca for keeping to his promise, he was sitting behind his mahogany desk, signing off on a series of security manifests.Without looking up from his papers, he reached into his desk drawer and placed a long, black velvet box on the polished wood between us."What is this?" I asked softly, taking a step toward the desk."Open it," Luca said, his deep voice smooth and unhurried.I lifted the lid. Inside, resting against white silk, sat a vintage jewelry set, a heavy, intricate necklace of dark sapphires framed by crushed diamonds, along with a matching pair of drop earrings. The stones caught the morning sun, gleaming with an undeniable, immense value."Luca..." I stammered, staring at the jewels in shock. "This is far too much. The medical team you hired
