ALEXANDER POV
I stared at her as she was taken away, and my heart sank. I didn’t understand why, but I felt a deep pain knowing she was being sent to a mental hospital. The very thought drove me to the brink of insanity. She was the mother of my newborns, and that made me weak. I wanted to protect her, to take her in my arms and comfort her, maybe even take her like I did nine months ago. “Fuck! You’re insane,” I cursed internally, fighting against my wolf. The damn wolf wouldn’t give me peace, not after Daniela was taken away. “You know you can’t shame your family. You can’t admit you had a one-night stand with an Omega. You can’t admit that, right?” I tried to convince Ronald, my wolf, but he kept on wiggling inside me, making it hard to concentrate. “She’s not our mate. Why are you fighting for her?” “I don’t know, but I feel she should be.” “Keep dreaming. We can’t have an Omega as our mate. That’s why we had to get rid of her after she gave birth.” I tried to reason with him, but my wolf wouldn’t listen. He kept fighting me, causing my eyes to change from dark to yellowish. As soon as she was taken out, I rushed upstairs to the room where my pups were. I needed to calm myself down. The only person who could calm my mind was Daniela and i had realised that in our one night stand, but now, she was gone for good. Surprisingly, she was the only one who made me feel alive that night at the club. That was the reason for our one-night stand. She was an Omega, but I didn’t understand why I was so drawn to her. It felt like a connection I couldn’t explain. After her, I never found the same satisfaction with another she-wolf. Walking into the room after leaving the guests in the living hall, I heard my pups crying and clenched my fists. Since Beta Lucas took them away from Daniela in the labour ward, they had been crying non-stop. One of them had a headache from all the crying. “Rose, why is she crying? Are you tired of your work?” I roared, and the Omega shook her head vigorously, trying to soothe the baby. “Bring her here,” I ordered, and she quickly complied. “What’s wrong, my love? Don’t cry, daddy is here.” I smiled at her small fingers as I played with them. I decided to name my baby girl Katherine after Laura’s mother, to appease Laura. Laura’s pack was vast and wealthy, while mine was struggling after what happened in my family. That’s why my mother chose Laura as my mate, hoping her pack would help ours grow. My phone rang, and I pulled it from my pocket. Katie quieted down, playing with her fingers while Nathaniel was with the other maid in the room. Seeing a private number on the caller ID, I frowned. “Rose, take her and prepare her anf her brother for the party. I need to take this.” The Omega rushed over, took Katie, and I left the room. “Brother.” I heard the voice on the other end and froze, my eyes widening in the hallway. “Alphonce!” I cleared my throat, trying to compose myself, but I was anything but calm. I rushed to the railings, leaning my left hand there while gripping the phone tightly with my right. “Are you surprised to hear from me?” “What do you want, Alphonce?” I hissed, flabbergasted and nervous. “Oh, stop it, brother. Have you already forgotten what mother and you did to me?” I exhaled deeply, raising my eyes to the ceiling. “Stay away from us, Alphonce. You said you didn’t want anything to do with us, remember?” “I said that, but I didn’t say I wouldn’t come back for revenge.” “Are you threatening me?” “I’m not. Just be careful, brother.” “Hello? Hello?” The call was cut off abruptly, just like the relationship I had with Alphonce. “Fuck it!” I paced back and forth, wondering what was on Alphonce’s mind, but I couldn’t figure it out. Why come after all these years? What was he planning? “My love.” I turned to see Laura strutting towards me. “Yes.” “I’ve made her disappear,” she said with a smile satified with her actions, raising her face for a kiss on the cheek. “We need to prepare for the party.” I nodded, faking a smile, then walked side by side with her into the room. I still needed to talk to my mother about the sudden call from Alphonce. ********* ALPHONCE POV I formed a sinister smile as I stared at the phone in my hand, then threw it back in my pocket. “Home sweet home,” I murmured, smiling at the sight before me. “Sir, everything is in order,” one of my men said, and I nodded. Who would have thought I’d get the chance to avenge my mate so soon? “Good, let’s go.” I rushed to the back door of the car, one of the men already opening it for me. I jumped in, leaning my head back on the seat. I still couldn’t believe I was back here, a place I vowed ten years ago never to return to. But could I be blamed for seeking revenge on those who wronged my mate and me? And who were they but my own biological family? Should I remove my glasses? No. Who knew what the paparazzi would do? Plus, I didn’t want to hear the obvious comments. “Is he the Alpha?” “Wow! But our Alpha doesn’t dress like that.” I smiled at those familiar comments and closed my eyes, adjusting my black suit as the driver accelerated. Time for vengeance!DANIELA/GIFT’S POV“Dammit! That was close!” I paced left and right inside the house, my hand running through my dark, neck-length hair. My heart throbbed violently inside my chest, like it wanted to break out and scream for air. I had already removed the fake brunette wig from my head and was now staring at my reflection in the mirror.Alexander was so close to recognizing me earlier, and that was not good—not good at all. I couldn’t expose myself like that. Not now. Not when I was so close. I had a mission: to take my pups away from him. To do that, I needed more than just desperation—I needed influence. I needed strategy.Alexander was an Alpha, and in our culture—shifter culture—Alphas were respected and feared. Even if one had wealth or status, it couldn’t match the power and weight an Alpha’s title carried. I needed proof, support, and the alliance of other Alphas to stand with me when I filed a case against both Alexander and Laura for what they did to me five years ago.I alre
ALEXANDER’S POVWhat the hell was wrong with me? I was losing it, and this was not who I was. I had always been in control of my emotions, never letting them cloud my judgment. But ever since Gift reappeared, everything had started crumbling. The past—the one I had buried so deep—came clawing back to the surface like a beast refusing to be tamed.Daniela.Her name alone sent a sharp pang through my chest. It was like a curse that refused to leave me, a wound that never truly healed. And now, with every look, every movement, every damn breath Gift took, I saw her. I felt her. I remembered everything I did.Sighing, I turned and followed.*****LAURA’S POVI hated her. Hated her to my very bones, and I knew she was aware of it. She had to be. How could she not? The air between us crackled with unspoken words, with loathing so thick it could suffocate.Everything about her reminded me of Daniela—that pathetic low-life Omega who never knew her place. Even when I tried to erase her from ex
ALEXANDER’S POVAfter thirty minutes, everything concerning the pups was over. They had cut their cake, their laughter ringing through the air as they received gifts from friends, family, business partners, investors, and even Alphas and Lunas from other packs who had come with their children to celebrate. Now, with the festivities winding down, Laura had taken the pups to their room. A part of me hesitated to let her take them, but I pushed the thought away. Maybe I was overthinking. But something about Laura unsettled them, and I couldn’t ignore it any longer. The way their tiny hands clung to me before she led them away, the way their eyes darted toward me as if asking for reassurance.I needed to find someone else—someone I could trust—to care for my pups. Not Rose. Not the maids. Someone whose loyalty would be to me alone. I would make arrangements soon.Exhaling sharply, I turned back to the guests, scanning the room. Most of the pups had been taken home, leaving only the adults
ALEXANDER’S POVBACK TO PRESENTShock and relief crashed over me at the sight of Miss Gift. A part of me had been certain she wouldn’t come. But here she was, standing among the guests, her scent unmistakable even before I turned to look at her.I had promised myself that I would speak to her, but now wasn’t the time. Not with all these people around. Not when the weight of unanswered questions sat heavily on my chest. I needed clarity, but first, I needed patience.Yet my stepmother, as expected, couldn't let her breathe since she arrived. And then there was something else—something that nagged at the edges of my mind. The way Miss Gift tensed when she fell into my arms, the way her body stiffened before realizing it was me. It was like she had seen a ghost. That reaction... it was too much. Too telling.I was right. She was Daniela. The resemblance, the familiarity, the way my heart reacted in her presence—it was all too similar to what I felt that night, years ago. My instincts nev
ALEXANDER'S POVA FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE BIRTHDAY PARTYI had been looking for her since that night—since the moment that haunted my every waking thought. No matter how hard I tried to push it away, it refused to fade. It was burned into my soul.Daniela. My little wolf. My ajo. She had survived that night five years ago. I was sure of it.But if she had survived… where the hell was she?My men had combed every inch of the city, yet she remained a ghost. It was as if the earth had swallowed her whole. There was no way she could have vanished into thin air.A sharp vibration in my back pocket snapped me from my thoughts. My heart pounded as I pulled out my phone. Staring at the caller ID, I inhaled deeply, willing my temper to stay in check. This person better have good news. Otherwise, I might just lose it.I clicked ‘okay’ and brought the phone to my ear. “Anything?” My voice was cold, direct.“Alpha,” the voice on the other end hesitated. “It seems Luna Laura was involved in what ha
DANIELA/GIFT POVMy wolf, Elena, had been strangely silent since that night.I swallowed hard, unwilling to admit—to even myself—that I knew exactly who I had been with. But the plan was simple. Pretend I didn’t remember anything.“Excuse me, I need to prepare the gifts for the kids,” I said, my voice measured, my gaze locked on Alphonce. I deliberately ignored his request, knowing that my heart—no, my entire being—was elsewhere. Especially after that damned night.Goddess.I scoffed under my breath, my frustration simmering beneath my skin. Without another word, I turned on my heels and strode toward the entrance, my movements stiff with suppressed emotion.I could feel Alphonce’s eyes on me, a scorching weight against my back, but he didn’t follow. A deep sigh of relief left my lips, my chest heaving as tension slowly uncoiled inside me. If he had come after me, I wasn’t sure what I would’ve said. What was I supposed to say?All this time, I had believed that my feelings wavered bet
