Chapter 8
Avery stood in front of the enormous building which seemed to be mocking her. She has always seen a mansion like this in drama but never thought there would be a day she would be given the privilege to stand in front of it.
“Miss, you've been looking at the building since we got here, I think it is better to go inside,” Emily said with a slight bow.
Avery had forgotten she came with someone, she didn't even realize that Lucien had already been taken inside where she stood at the entrance of the penthouse staring around to feed her gaze.
“Why didn't you inform me that we're the only ones left outside?” Avery asked before walking back inside the mansion with Emily trailing behind her back.
The entrance door opened by itself onto a grand foyer, with a sweeping staircase that led to the main sitting room.
“Wow, he must be rich to be able to afford this penthouse!” Avery mumbled mesmerized by the building.
“My lady, have you forgotten? Mr Lucien is the youngest billionaire tycoon in New York, he's the CEO of the industry you've always aimed to join, have you forgotten?” Emily asked, staring weirdly at Avery.
Emily seemed to Sense something strange from the way her lady had been reasoning, she could feel something was strange and different but she couldn't figure anything out.
“How could I suddenly forget it? I must have been stressed out!” Avery said, ascending the staircase that led to the sitting room.
A massive Chandelier was hung from the ceiling, casting a glittering light over the marble floor which got Avery's gaze fixed on, she was looking in awe that one would instantly know it was her first time seeing such things.
The living room was decorated with luxurious furniture and fine arts. She was still looking around at the whole living room when her gaze settled on Lucien who was at the window side staring through the glass.
Avery could see his tall broad shoulders, with piercing blue eyes and a strong chiseled jawline. She could see his hands wrapped against the tobacco stick, which reminded her of what he did earlier today.
Lucien had puffed out the tobacco smoke at her which led to her being mocked by him.
“Butler Lee, is my room ready?” Avery asked the moment she descended the stairs.
“Yes…it's ready” Butler Lee stuttered fearfully while looking at his master who was still silent, not saying anything.
Even, the maids were exchanging eye contact with each other, it was more like a surprise that their master's wife wasn't forcing himself over him which seemed more shocking to them.
“Then, I'll be going to my room!”
“Lead the way to my room, Butler Lee!” Avery said.
“Huh, I should lead the way to your room? Oh, okay, ma'am!” Butler Lee said and slightly bowed at his master before walking towards Avery.
“Get back, here!” Lucien's cold voice was heard but Avery never stopped since her name wasn't called.
“Yes, First Master, I'm here!” Butler Lee said and rushed back towards Lucien.
“Eileen, get back here!” He thundered furiously with a smug expression.
“Oh, you are speaking to me?”
“I'm tired, let's talk tomorrow!” Avery nonchalantly said and turned around to leave, not bothering about the weight of her words.
Everyone in the living room had a speechless expression on their faces as they found it more surprising that the lady wasn't intimidated by their master's aura, strangely they seemed to love the atmosphere.
Even Emily who was sluggishly walking behind her lady couldn't help but be taken aback as the person she knew would have run thousands of miles back to the master of the Smith family even without being called and yet she boldly rejected him.

NEXT MORNING.
“Miss, Butler Lee is outside,” Emily said, slightly tapping her Miss to get off the bed but seemed she had forgotten she would be resuming work immediately after her wedding.
“Tell him I'm not awake yet,” Avery mumbled with her eyes closed.
“Miss, Your husband sent for you and besides you need to get ready for your new drama, have you forgotten you can't get there late?”
Almost immediately, Avery heard the word work, she instantly sprang to her feet, she had forgotten that she was a whole different person in another person's body.
“Did you just say drama?” Avery asked slightly confused wondering what the owner's work has to do with drama.
“Yes, My lady, you're at the last chapter of the script reading, and shooting will begin today!”
“What shooting? What script reading? Does that mean I'm an actress?” She asked.
“Yes, My lady, why are you asking such a strange question?” Emily asked.
“Knock”
Almost immediately, a knock was heard on the door, “That's Butler Lee, Miss!”
“Mrs Eileen, My master sent for you and you have just three seconds to come downstairs!” Butler Lee said.
“Tell him, I'll come downstairs when I'm ready but right now I'm busy!” Avery said not yielding to Lucien's commanding words.
Emily covered her mouth with a worried look. “I'm sorry, Miss, I should have woken you up earlier for you to be able to meet up with your husband.”
“Miss, let me quickly freshen you up!” Emily hurriedly rushed inside the restroom to get her Miss bathing water ready leaving the confused Avery inside the room.
“Will I be able to keep up with her work?” Avery wondered, even though she had always hoped to have her work, she never thought a day would come when she would be allowed to have a job.

Avery's gaze scanned the glamor dining room. The opulence of the place made her gasp momentarily not expecting the dining room to be finer like the living room until her gaze landed on him, the sole figure among everyone in the dining room, weirdly she could only see him.
Her reaction lasted for a split second as her expression instantly turned cold. Without waiting, Avery proceeded straight down to the dining table, straight to the right pulled the chair beside her so-called husband.
“Serve my food!” She ordered instantly, not bothering to spare a second glance at the man who was just an inch away from her.
She has made up her mind right from the moment she was given a second chance not to allow anyone to stumble upon her or use her for their good.
The maids were so shocked that they exchanged glances with each other but they didn't hesitate to serve the food. After all, an order from their master's wife is the same as their master's order.
The atmosphere around the ten-foot-long table was a little bit tense; the two people sat next to each other.
“Thud!”
The loud sound of something hitting the dining table caught Avery's attention but she nonchalantly didn't raise her head rather she acted unbothered. Though she was scared she made up her mind not to be intimidated or seen as an easy target.
“Is this your three minutes? How dare you defile my order?!”Lucien's cold voice broke the silence at the table.
Avery slightly looked up, her gaze meeting him briefly before dropping her cutleries.
“Can't I have a simple breakfast in my husband's house?”She calmly asked.
“Why did you think I came downstairs? I'm here to have breakfast not to yield to your order! I'm not your maid, so why should I listen to you!” Avery said boldly, she would be lying to herself saying she was not scared.
A cold light flashed across Lucien's eyes as he clenched his fist boiling in rage as he looked at a lady who had confidently defiled his order not once but twice which had never happened to him.
“You have just a second to get on your knees and apologize for defiling my order, Eileen!” Lucien sneered.
A weird idea ran through Avery's head instantly and she didn't hesitate to pick the orange juice on the table close to Lucien and before he could think of anything, orange juice was already dripping down from Lucien's head onto his face and soaked his expensive leather jacket.
Everyone shared a glance as they couldn't help to think their master had finally found his perfect match.
Chapter 74Her slender fingers brushed gently against the petals, a soft gasp escaping her lips at the unexpected chill that seemed to emanate from the flower. But as she grasped the stem, intent on plucking it from the soil, a shadow fell across her path which shocked her instantly.“What do you think you're doing?!” The man's voice growled. The deep magnetic voice startled her, almost making her stumble over nothing. Her grip on the orchid tightened and unknowingly the thorn on it pricked on the palm with the orchid flower in her hand.“L…LLL….” She sucked in cold air. “What are you doing here, Mr Lucien?” She stuttered beneath her words as she tried to recover her composure she hid the flower behind her back.Even though she was caught by the man, she wasn't ashamed of her act, rather she was so happy that she was able to touch the rare blue orchid flower.“Brother!”Stephanie screamed as she ran towards her brother with a joyful expression on her face. She was so excited because sh
Chapter 73Avery stepped inside the reserved greenhouse and she had her mouth widely opened for a second period. She was instantly greeted by a burst of warmth and a riot of vibrant color. Chapter 72Despite seeing the sweat dripping off the guard's face, the old man still believed his grandson was somewhere inside the mansion. He doesn't believe Lucien would leave just like that with his wife. The old man sat back on the chair, his expression one of resigned patience, as he waited for his grandson with his gaze fixed thoroughly on the entrance door of the dining room.Everywhere was silent, nobody could think of anything or say anything upon seeing the scary look on the old man's face. Everyone knew how hard he took his grandson and wouldn't hesitate to do anything for him, especially Lucien. The old man's expression suddenly turned sour just like that within a twinkle of an eye. The man's gaze was thoroughly fixed on the clock which was ticked by and everywhere went silent and calm. A sense of unease began to creep over him that the old man couldn't help but be shifted on his seat, his gnarled hands fidgeting endlessly in his lap.All those acts of the old man were b
Chapter 71“Are you okay? You've been silent since you got back,” Jake whispered into Isabella's ears and of course, she still kept a straight expression while munching on her food.Isabella tightened her grip beneath the table while trying to keep a straight expression without anyone knowing she was annoyed or anything happening to her at that moment. Her features looked calm as she took the glass of wine in front of sipped from the wine. Chapter 70 “Master, do you want to follow them?” Butler Lee asked as the man stood behind his master whose attention was on the two women in the front. The man stood still in the hallway, his wife following his wife's retreating figure as she was being accompanied by his younger sister, he was aware of the fact that they weren't on good terms yet she still asked her for a tour.Lucien couldn't understand the way the lady thought at times, thinking about it he couldn't help but wonder why she would suddenly request a tour From someone that isn't on good terms with her.He knew her to be intelligent, resourceful, and could easily handle herself in any situation but still, he couldn't help but be worried. Lucien was aware of how his sister could be at times which was why he couldn't help but be a little bit worried about the two ladies.“Master, Master…. Master….!” Lucien was lost in thought that he didn't hear when Butler Lee spoke to him until he was gently tapped by the man before he
Chapter 69Avery's gaze blazed with a Venomous expression on her face, the lady was pulling on her tail and it was high time she put her in her place. She looked towards Isabella who was silently concentrating on her food. She believed she was able to put a person like Isabella in her place. Putting Stephanie in her place wouldn't be that hard.Avery's voice was the epitome of feigned politeness as she turned to look at Stephanie, a saccharine smile pasted on her face like a mask. “Dear sister, I was wondering if you might be kind enough to give me a tour of the residence,” She said, her tone was so cool and conversational that one wouldn't be able to suspect a single thing.“I am quite curious about where my husband grew up,” Avery calmly spoke to provoke the lady who wouldn't hesitate to react.Stephanie's brow arched, her expression a perfect mirror of Eileen's words “Of course, sister, why not? I have always been by my brother's side. I can even brief you on every little thing you
