LOGINZina POV
"What are you doing here Xaden?" I asked him coldly.
"Well I'm here because of my mother, she's really sick so I brought her here to see the doctor." He replied.
It was his mother?! The same woman that bullied and treated me like shit for two years. I felt an intense wave of anger flow through me and I felt like leaving them there and running away.
I couldn't face them, not after what they did to me. They humiliated me, insulted me and hurt me in several ways.
"Zina," Xaden said while walking towards me. "We don't have time for this, where is the doctor? Isn't he supposed to be here?"
"He?"
"Yes Zina," Xaden remarked irritatedly. "I thought you were doctor Sean but it can't be you. You must be a nurse here, so please go call doctor Sean and stop wasting our time."
I blinked up at him and started laughing, I held my stomach and doubled over laughing.
"What's so funny Zina?!" Xaden bellowed.
I quickly sobered up but a few giggles were able to escape out of me. "What's funny is how you're so stupid and you couldn't even see my name tag."
"What name tag?" Xaden said while looking at my lab coat.
I saw when his eyes connected with my name tag and I felt some form of satisfaction from seeing his face morph from confusion to shock. He looked up at me and I gave him a little wave.
I offered my hand to him in greeting and he was hesitant in taking it.
"I'm Doctor Sean, Medical director and head doctor of this hospital." I said with a smirk.
"Zina, is that you my child?"
I turned around to see my ex mother in law looking at me with shock written on her face. I walked over to her bed side and looked down at her.
"Hello Mrs King, how are you doing?" I questioned.
"Oh please Zina, we're family aren't we not? Please don't call me Mrs King, you used to call me mother once.
I felt myself get angry again and I had to take a deep breath to calm myself down.
"Mrs King, I would advise you to not bring up the past. Alpha Xaden and I relationship ended four years ago when he gave me that divorce papers so please I would advise you to behave yourself."
I saw Xaden wince from the corner of my eye but I honestly didn't care about him. He ruined me when he gave me those divorce papers and when he cheated on me with my best friend.
"Listen I understand you're angry, but you have to still blame yourself for what happened to you." Mrs King said.
"Yeah, you're the one that caused everything for yourself." Xaden continued, "If you weren't such a loose woman and a bad example of a luna, I wouldn't have rejected you the way I did. Not only that, we were together for two years and you still couldn't give me a pup to call my own. You-"
"Since you made Bella your luna, has she given you any pups?" I interrupted, "I mean since you got rid of the problem which was me, I'm sure you must have at least two pups by now."
Xaden's cheeks turned pink in embarrassment and I heard Mrs King clear her throat, "Oh my goddess, you don't have any pups. You're an Alpha without kids, what a fucking joke. "
Xaden suddenly flew from where he was standing and grabbed my neck. It happened so fast I didn't have time to react, his eyes were a blazing red and I knew his wolf was in control. "Watch your mouth woman, I'm still your mate and Alpha. You are to give me that respect."I looked at him in bewilderment, who does this fucker think he is?
I pushed his hands away from my neck and I looked at him dead in the eye. Nobody dares to look an alpha in the eyes because it's a form of disrespect and it looks like you're challenging their title.
"Listen to me you oversized mutt," I sneered at him. "I will not tolerate any form of disrespect. I'm not the same woman you treated properly four years ago, now I have a voice and trust me I will make you regret it. Secondly, I'm not your mate anymore, you rejected and divorced me to be with my whore of a best friend remember."
" Yes that may be true but you never accepted the rejection, meaning it was one sided and it could be easily rebuilt" Xaden said with a smirk, he walked towards me and held my chin in his hands. "Admit Zina, you missed us, that's why you never accepted the rejection all these years. Admit it sweetheart, you're mine forever."
"You motherfucking asshole–"
"Xaden, help me."
We both turned to see his mum throwing up some green ooze, we both ran towards her bed side and I started to examine her.
Her hair and skin were a pale green and they were cold to touch. I brought out my pen light from my breast pocket and examined her pupils. They were losing color and it looked like she was about to lose consciousness.
"Xaden, your mum is in a crucial condition, i'm going to need you to step outside so my term and I can treat her." i said while setting up her IV.
"You must be really high if you think I'm going to leave my mother alone while she's in this state. She's the only one I have left and I will be damned if I leave her alone for just a second, especially with someone like you." he walked over to where i was standing and leaned down at me, "Did you hear me Zina? I'm not going anywhere, you're struck with me forever."
I felt my face twitch once, twice and then the third time.
I can't do this with him.
''Then you're free to take yourself and your mother out of my hospital. Like I said before, I will not condone any form of disrespect Mr King especially in my own damn hospital. You refused to listen to me when I asked you to leave the room and in conclusion, you're nothing more than a stupid mama's boy who throws a tantrum when things don't go your way. If your mother should pass away, it's all your damn fucking fault" i bellowed.
I'm sure the entire hospital heard me but I didn't care, if Xaden didn't want to play by my rules then he's not welcome in my space.
I turned my back away from them and walked to the door, "Go to the reception and check yourselves out."
''Zina, please wait."
I paused in my tracks and turned around
Mrs King had a look of pain stretched across her face. "Please, my child, treat me. I'm dying and you're the only one that can help me. Xaden will leave the room, just please just help me get better."
"Mum, I'm not leaving you here alone." Xaden argued.
"Well, that's too bad because you're leaving immediately they start the treatment."
"But mum,"
"Xaden James Kings, don't think I can't snap your neck just because I'm on this bed. You know who your mother is, so don't fucking test me." She said coldly, she started coughing all over again and she turned to face again.
"So what's your answer my child? Will you help me?"
I was supposed to walk away, they don't deserve my sympathy. They humiliated me and called me several names, they treated me like an outcast and honestly they had it coming. Well Karma is bitch.I was supposed to walk away and leave them to suffer but I couldn't find it in me to just abandon them.
Fuck my good and kind heart.
"I will only treat you if Xaden gets out of my way, I want him out and he's to wait in the reception."
"It seems like you have a loose screw in your head, I'm not going anywhere and you can't force me." Xaden said while sitting on the sofa in the room.
"Then I'm out of here." I turned around once again, and I had my hand on the door knob.
"Zina, please wait." I heard Mrs King, "just wait a minute."
I sighed and turned around. I leaned against the door frame and waited. "it's your choice Mrs King, either he leaves or I will."
She nodded her head and turned to face Xaden, "Xaden get out of here, she needs her privacy."
"Mum, I'm not going anywhere."
"I swear to the fucking moon goddess Xaden, I will kill you and no body will find your body. So get out of here." Mrs King bellowed.
Xaden froze on the spot and walked towards the door.
He looked down at me and I could see some sort of strange emotion in his eyes. He finally left and I turned to one of the pains of my past.
"Alright then, let's get started."
POV: ZinaThe kitchen felt quieter than it had moments ago, though the silence was far from comforting. My gaze lingered on the closed door, the echo of Trina's heels against the floor replaying in my mind like a haunting melody. I should have felt victorious—watching her crumble under the weight of my words should've been satisfying. But as I stood there, the adrenaline ebbed, replaced by a hollow exhaustion that pressed on my chest.I sank into the nearest chair, rubbing my temples. The fight had drained me more than I cared to admit. From the corner of my eye, I caught the tea kettle on the stove. The sight of it brought a sliver of comfort, so I busied myself making tea. As the water boiled, the steam curling upward, my thoughts wandered to a time long before Trina and her perfectly curated chaos.---Xaden's laughter echoed through the kitchen, rich and unrestrained. I had been trying to teach him how to make pancakes, and his clumsy attempts had resulted in batter smeared across
POV: ZinaThe knock at the door wasn't surprising; I'd been expecting a delivery. Asher's new schoolbooks had been delayed for days, and I had spent the morning waiting to sign for them. But when I opened the door, my stomach clenched.Standing there, dressed as though she'd stepped out of a fashion magazine, was Trina. And she hasn't changed a bit.For a moment, neither of us spoke. Her sharp cheekbones and meticulously styled hair glistened in the sunlight. Her lips were painted a bright red, her eyes hidden behind oversized sunglasses that she slowly removed, revealing a piercing stare."Zina." Her voice was sugary but laced with badly hidden spite.I leaned against the doorframe, crossing my arms. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the woman who thought stealing my husband was a promotion. I see you have removed the devil's thorns on your head."Her painted lips twitched into a tight smile. "I see you haven't changed.""Neither have you bitch," I shot back. "What do you want from me?"
POV: JaredIt was a quiet morning in the office, the kind where everything felt routine. The hum of my computer filled the room as I worked through an endless string of emails. I liked mornings like this—structured, predictable. But the peace shattered in an instant. The door to my office slammed open so hard it hit the wall. I looked up, startled, as Xaden stormed in like a man on fire. His face was twisted with fury, his eyes sharp and blazing."Jared!" he snapped, his voice loud enough to carry through the entire floor. My assistant, Sarah, appeared behind him, looking flustered and apologetic. "I tried to stop him, Mr. Jared, but he—""It's fine," I interrupted, holding up a hand. "Close the door, Sarah. I'll handle this."She hesitated for a moment, clearly unsure if she should leave me alone with him. I gave her a reassuring nod, and she finally backed out, shutting the door softly behind her.Xaden wasted no time. He strode over to my desk, his movements stiff with anger. He pl
A Mother's Dilemma Zina POV The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, painting the kitchen with a soft glow. I had barely slept, my mind running circles around the storm Xaden had stirred up. His words from last night haunted me: the anger, the betrayal, and his unspoken promise to not back down.I placed two plates of scrambled eggs and toast on the table, the aroma filling the small kitchen. Asher shuffled in, rubbing his sleepy eyes and dragging his stuffed dinosaur behind him. His messy curls framed his face, and despite my inner turmoil, his presence brought a fragile sense of calm."Morning, Mom," he mumbled, climbing into his chair."Good morning, sweetheart," I replied, trying to sound cheerful. "Did you sleep well?""Uh-huh," he said, already diving into his breakfast. "I'm so hungry!"I chuckled softly, though the sound felt forced. Watching him eat reminded me of how much I had to lose. My appetite remained absent, but I sat across from him, sipping on a glass o
Zina's POVThe knock on the door was sharp and insistent, cutting through the quiet of the night. My chest tightened as I glanced at the clock. Midnight. No one came by this late, especially not unannounced. The heavy silence in the house suddenly felt suffocating.Hesitant, I moved toward the door, each step weighed down by an inexplicable sense of dread. When I opened it, my breath caught. Xaden stood there, his tall frame illuminated by the dim porch light. His face was a storm of fury, his eyes blazing with anger."What are you doing here?" I asked, gripping the door tightly to steady myself."You didn't think I'd find you, did you?" His voice was sharp, cutting through the air like a blade."I don't know what you're talking about," I said quickly, trying to shut the door, but he shoved it open and stepped inside."You don't get to shut me out, Zina," he growled, his voice rising. "Not this time."I glared at him, my heart pounding. "You can't just barge into my life like this. Yo
Zina POVThe water pours down relentlessly, the sound a soothing yet deafening roar around us. Each droplet feels like a whisper against my skin, but it does little to calm the storm raging within me. Jared's arms are wrapped securely around me, his chest rising and falling steadily as if he isn't as affected by this as I am. How could he be so calm when I feel like my world is on the verge of shattering?I press my forehead against his chest, trying to focus on his warmth. It's grounding, comforting even. I should feel safe here, and I do, but there's an undercurrent of fear—fear of what this moment means, fear of what I've just given him, fear of the unknown future."Zina," Jared's deep voice cuts through the quiet chaos in my head. He says my name softly, almost reverently, as if it's the most precious word he's ever spoken. "Look at me."I hesitate for a moment, reluctant to meet his gaze. When I finally tilt my head up, his dark eyes are waiting, filled with something I can't qui
