Angela’s POV

I could hear them. Their voices were muffled, almost as if they were coming from the other side of a thick wall, but I knew every one of them. I could hear the worry in their voices, even when they tried to hide it.

Please don’t be upset. I wanted to tell them I was okay. I wanted to open my eyes and sit up so they would stop looking at me like I was already gone. But I couldn’t move. I couldn’t even open my eyes.

I could feel Xavier closest to me. Somehow, even without seeing

  • Eclipse Academy   A Little Time

Angela’s POV By the time dinner was over, everyone seemed quieter than usual. I couldn’t blame them. The day had been a lot for all of us, and even though I was sitting at the table eating like nothing had happened, part of me still couldn’t believe I was actually there. I had woken up. I was cured. I had made my choice. All three of them knew what that choice was now. Still, something felt different. I noticed it when Xavier stood from the table and barely said anything before heading toward his room. He didn’t look angry, and he hadn’t snapped at anyone, but there was something in the way he carried himself that made me watch him until his bedroom door closed behind him. Darius and Silas were still sitting nearby, both of them looking exhausted. Steph had disappeared into her room earlier, saying she needed some quiet after everything we’d been through. I glanced toward Xavier’s closed door. “He’s been in there for almost an hour.” Darius looked at the door and then back at me

  • Eclipse Academy   I Chose…

Angela’s POV The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Xavier. For a moment, I didn’t understand why he looked so shocked. His face was inches from mine, his eyes wide, and there was so much emotion written across his face that it took me a second to realize he was staring at me like he couldn’t believe I was actually awake. Then I smiled. “Hi.” His expression broke. He reached for me immediately, one hand sliding gently beneath my cheek as he bent down and kissed me. I closed my eyes and kissed him back, letting myself sink into the warmth of him. I had missed this. I hadn’t been gone that long. At least, I didn’t think I had. But after everything I had just experienced, feeling Xavier’s arms around me again made the strange field, Aurelia, the choice, and everything else feel almost like a dream. His kiss stayed soft, slow, and careful, as though he was afraid that if he moved too quickly, I might disappear again. I lifted my hand and rested it against his chest. He was

  • Eclipse Academy   She’s Awake

Xavier’s POV I hadn’t moved from Angela’s side since Mr. Wilson started preparing the stabilizer. I couldn’t. Even when my legs started aching from sitting in the same position, I stayed exactly where I was. My hand remained wrapped around hers, my thumb moving slowly across the back of it while I watched Mr. Wilson work at the table. He had the journal open beside him. Every few seconds, his eyes dropped to the page before returning to the ingredients in front of him. The room was too quiet. Nobody seemed willing to say much anymore. I couldn’t blame them. There wasn’t anything left to joke about. Angela was lying on the bed, completely still, and every time I looked at her, the same thought came back. What if I did this to her? Blaze had been unusually quiet. That scared me almost as much as everything else. “This wasn’t your fault,” he finally said inside. I stared at Angela. “You don’t know that.” I sighed and shook my head. “My blood was in the cure. So maybe that’s what we

Somehow, even without seeing him, I knew he was there. I could feel his presence beside me, and there was something in that presence that hurt worse than anything else. He was scared. And I could feel the same fear coming from the others. Please don’t be upset. I said to myself once again. I wanted to reach for Xavier’s hand. I wanted to tell him that whatever happened wasn’t his fault. None of this was his fault. We had all agreed to try. We had all believed the cure would work. I had believed it. Maybe that was what hur

  • Eclipse Academy   What I Need

Mr. Wilson’s POV Steph’s eyes widened. “Wait. Silas had one of those.” Every head in the room turned toward her. She looked around as though she had only just realized she had spoken aloud. “What?” she asked. I stared at her. “Silas had what?” She pointed toward Silas. “One of those things. I don’t remember which one, but he had something like that stuffed down his pants.” I slowly turned my attention toward Silas. He looked mortified. Xavier stepped forward before I could ask another question. “It’s a very long story, Mr. Wilson.” “I can imagine.” I looked toward Angela. She remained unconscious on the bed. That was all that mattered at that moment. “We will be discussing this entire situation.” I pointed my finger at all of them. “But right now, Angela is more important.” I turned to Silas. “Let me see the ingredients that you have.” Steph was already moving. Within seconds, she disappeared into the adjoining room. Silas looked as though he wanted the floor to open beneath hi

  • Eclipse Academy   We Need…

Silas’s POV Xavier carried Angela to the bed, and I already knew he wasn’t going anywhere. He laid her down carefully, pulled the blanket beneath her shoulders, and stayed beside her with one hand resting against her arm. His expression had changed completely. The joking, the confidence, even the relief we’d felt only moments ago had disappeared. Angela wasn’t waking up. I stood there for another few seconds, watching Xavier look down at her. Then I made the only decision that seemed obvious. Someone needed to find Mr. Wilson. “I’m going to see if I can find Mr. Wilson.” I turned toward the door and walked out, already reaching for the hem of my shirt. Then I scratched. Again. I stopped in the hallway and looked down. “This cannot be happening.” Whatever had been in those ingredients had definitely done something to me. The itching hadn’t gone away after I removed everything from my pants. If anything, it had gotten worse. I scratched again. Then immediately regretted it. “Damn
