Chapter 9: SIAN

There goes my car again. I know it hadn't been there this afternoon when I'd gone outside with Belle to call her friend, but now here it was again.

I wondered what kind of teacher could afford a car like that. Granted it was a private school and I'm sure the faculty here made more than at the average high school. Still, that car was like a half a million dollars easy.

I grinned when I remembered telling dad that that's what I wanted as payment for him disrupting my life.

I was on my way to the field for tryouts. After this afternoon's little run-in with the squad I wasn't sure of my reception, but I wasn't about to let that deter me.

Ms. Simmons, the coach was very personable when we spoke earlier, and she seemed pretty impressed with my stats.

The school had never been part of the nationals, whereas my old school had won twice in the last three years. I was a shoo-in and since I seem to have gotten over whatever was bugging me earlier, I really wasn't too interested in what Mandy and her crew thought.

Yes you have to work together when cheering but like any other job, everyone didn't always get along or even need to, in order for things to work.

I'd left Belle back in the hall looking for Tammy who was still a no show and who hadn't answered her phone.

I wanted to stay with her and help find the other girl since she seemed so distressed, but coach had made it clear that she didn't put up with tardiness or any form of slacking off, and I wasn't about to start off on the wrong foot, so I told her to come find me when she got word.

I saw the other girls in a huddle as I approached. They looked over and saw me coming and as if by mutual consent turned their backs.

This morning my step might have faltered, I might've missed a step, but now that I was in fighting form I really didn't give a frack.

I walked over to the coach to let her know I was there and she blew the whistle for attention, apparently I was the last one there.

"Right, now that we're all here let's get started. Now last year we had some issues that I'd like to avoid this year.

This is supposed to be fun for all involved, yet there were stories of bruised feelings and cattiness that I will not abide.

Let this be a warning, I will not think twice about removing any trouble makers from this squad are we clear?"

There was a bit of mumbling from the back but I kept my head forward, I wonder what that was about?

I know cheerleaders get a bad rap and most are seen as stuck up divas, but in truth, most of the girls I cheered with were just happy to be doing something they loved.

I personally like the excitement of the crowds but that's secondary to the feeling I get when I'm being tossed in the air and doing my flips and shit.

It was just a graduation from dance as far as I'm concerned, and since I wasn't planning on making it a career choice since cheerleaders made squat, it was just a fun way to get through high school and stay in shape.

I'm sure it meant a lot more to some and some people might call me cynical, but for crap sake it was just a sport.

My brother played football and I cheered, mom and dad come to see both of us doing what we love, that's about it for me.

"Okay, before we begin let's go over the nutrition sheet." There was even more grumbling as she passed out the sheets of paper.

After the rudimentary questions and answers she turned to me and the other hopefuls who were there to try out. Oh boy here we go.

I stood off to the side and watched the others as they went ahead. She didn't have them do anything extra just the basic jumps and rolls but when it came my turn she had other ideas.

"Okay Claiborne I've read your file, since you've been part of a team that has won nationals your last two tries let's see what you got." She smiled encouragingly after putting me on the spot.

I could see Mandy and her girls weren't too happy with this turn of events, but I did my warm ups and got down to business.

Since I didn't want to be a show hog I didn't hit them with my skills, but I had to bring something more to the table since coach had outed me.

Which, from the indrawn breaths and loud whispers I gathered the others had not known of my past success.

Where the other try-outs had done the basic requirements of cartwheels, round offs and handstands, with forward and backward rolls, I did back handsprings and tucks and threw in a few fulls.

I made sure my toes stayed pointed during my jumps because if coach was any good at this, she'd be watching that stuff.

She started calling out jumps in the middle of my routine and luckily I've dealt with that scenario before so I didn't miss a beat.

"Right hurdler, pike, straight jump." I kept my toes pointed, legs straight and a big smile on my face. I'm the cheerleading queen. Suck it.

There wasn't much muttering and whispering going on but there were a few pissed off divas I can tell you that; especially when the younger girls who were there for the first time flocked to me and started peppering me with questions.

"Hey I'm the head cheerleader, why are you asking her stuff? She's not even a part of this team." Mandy showed her ass for real. Seriously?

"She is now, welcome aboard Ms. Claiborne that was nice I hope to see more like it in the future." She mumbled something under her breath but I didn't catch it.

She chose a few other hopefuls and I felt bad for the ones who didn't make it. There was one girl there with braces, who for some reason reminded me of Maggie.

I don't know why since my sister have never worn braces, but there was just something about her that made my heart hurt at the look of disappointment on her face.

"Alright ladies saddle up let's hit the tracks." I ran over to the girl who was walking off dejectedly.

"Hey, you were really good out there you just need to stop flexing, I think you're a little nervous but with some help I'm sure you'd make the next try-outs."

She looked around like she thought I was talking to someone else. "You're just saying that." She pushed her glasses up higher on her nose and my heart was a puddle at her feet.

"No really I mean it, look here's my number, call me later and we'll set something up okay." I put my number in her phone and passed it back.

"I didn't get your name by the way."

"Really, you'll help me? I'm Cassandra." She was staring at me like I had the answers to the meaning of life.

"Sure." I smiled at her reassuringly. She started to say something else but then stopped as if struck by lightning. Her whole face changed as she looked over my shoulder at something or someone behind me.

I followed the direction of her gaze and almost dropped my pompoms. My hands and legs lost their feeling and I couldn't tell you what day it was if my life depended on it.

He was the most gorgeous specimen I'd ever seen. "Oh shit." Crap I said that out loud. He gave me one of those smirks that you only see on the big screen and walked away towards the other jocks that were already getting on the field.

"Who the hell was that?" I turned back around. She was gone with the wind.

They looked around the room at each other until Logan nodded his head. I guess that was the go ahead because Mancini took point again."What we're about to share with you doesn't leave this room. We've come together along with some other friends that you didn't get to meet this time, to form a kind of group if you will.""Each of us serves a purpose in this group. It's also top secret, which you should understand." He looked at Track and I moved to stand in front of him. "It's okay Jace, he knows.""I'm not working for the government, no disrespect." I looked at the SEALs. The men in the room started to smile. I wasn't sure what the fuck they were, but it wasn't hard to tell that they were something. What with the compound that was more secure that the Pentagon."That's not who we are. What we propose, if we all agree is that you boys become part of our elite group. We'll fill you in on all the pertinent details a little later once you get on board. If not we can stop this lit

I just held her and let her get it out, knowing that she'd be right as rain in no time. "Come on baby, let's get you dried and dressed." I turned off the water and lifted her to take her out of the shower."Jace, do you ever regret marrying me?" I want to answer this shit for the one hundredth time. What is it with women? The guys were all complaining about the same thing, except for Alex who was always smiling these days, the fuck."Sian, just like I told you yesterday and the day before that, even if I live to be a hundred, I won't ever regret the best decision I ever made.""But we're so young." I rolled my eyes and dried her feet that she couldn't hardly see anymore. "Does that mean that you regret it because you're younger than I am?"That one always stumps her but she still asks the same damn question over and over. So I knew what was coming next. "But it's not the same for men.""That's not sexist or anything. I should start worrying as often as you ask me that. Maybe

Not scared like a punk, more like amazed at the shit these fucks can get up to. So when he so casually mentioned something that he should have no knowledge of, I got the sense there was much more left unsaid. I'm sure a man of his caliber wasn't just wasting his time on some kid that he didn't even know."I sense a catch.""No catch, I just think you're wasted on those fucknuts is all. Anytime you're ready give me a ring." He'd rang off after that but there was no mistaking the smile in his voice. I'm pretty sure he knew that I was going to look into him.And that was my reason for being hesitant about taking Jace with me. I'd got a glimpse of where those SEALs live and I have the feeling that shit would only give Jace ideas. He was already making noise about building a place like the one on the island where we all could live. The kid's a damn hippie at heart.***JACE***"Track wants us to go to Georgia to meet his sister. We're going this weekend if you're not too sick

I didn't feel shit when I put pressure on his neck. Everything was happening so fast. Sian was screaming, finally giving into the fear and Track was trying to talk me down."I told you not to touch her you fuck. Did you forget?" I tightened my arm around his neck, adding just the right amount of pressure and barely restrained myself from doing more "I'm going to break your fucking neck.""Jace no, let him go, he's not worth it." I ignored Track and twisted my arm quick, snapping Stanley's neck. "Call the cops.""Fuck Jace! What the fuck did I say?""Call the cops.""No, let me think let me clean this up. Shane, Alex bar the door make sure no one gets by..." I hadn't even heard the others rush in behind me. But turned to see them now with horror in their eyes. "He's not dead Track his neck's just broken. Call the cops." I dropped Stanley on the floor just as the men who were supposed to be watching the school came through the door."What took you guys so long?""He didn

For now, it was fine. For the next nine months I knew she was going to keep me on my toes. We had an appointment with the best Obstetrician of course, who'd been vetted to within an inch of her life before I agreed.I was trying to make it so that she only had to worry about school and giving birth, other than that I was there to pick up the slack. I had the fridge in our suite stocked with all the things she's been asking for lately and hoping for smooth sailing.I was getting used to waking up with her in the morning to hold her hair while she threw up. Then her horny ass would need a fix on the bathroom floor after a quick nap.Other than that, there was no sign that her tiny ass was even pregnant. Of course she's decided that she can get away with shit now, because I can't fix her ass, but I have other ways of keeping her ass in line. That Monday as soon as we'd reached the school yard the whispers started. It wasn't long before we heard the whole story of Mandy being dropp

Mom came down with a tray of something in her hands instead of letting one of the servants do it."Hey mom, how come you're doing this yourself?""I don't know. We didn't go to the shelter this year because we've invited everyone, so I guess I'm feeling a little bit guilty.""Didn't you donate all the food this year? I'm sure they don't mind us missing one year mom, we'll go for Xmas, and make everyone that's here today come with us.""Sounds good son. By the way, I'm going to let you off the hook for telling your dad before you told me.""Shit, mom...""It's okay, he explained. By the way her parents know so you two don't have to keep putting it off any longer.""How?""Veronica is a mother son. We both figured something was going on that day in the hospital.""Well, that's all good and well but Sian has decided she's never telling her dad. She doesn't want him to know she's having sex."Mom thought that shit was hilarious but the rest of my crew, except for Track,
