Chapter 8 Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School

"You're back. How was the operation this time? Were you injured?" The old man glanced at Li Kong who had returned and asked lazily.

"Yes, everything went smoothly." Li Kong took off his mask and picked up a withered grass by the side of the road, putting it in his mouth and chewing it.

Every time he returned, the old man would ask the same question, and even now he did not understand why the old man only asked only this question and never cared about anything else.

For example, whether he failed or succeed, how the final result of the opponent was, and so on.

"You have been learning magic from me for almost a year, haven't you?" The old man raised his head to look at the somewhat dim sky and asked.

The old man's sudden question stunned Li Kong. Why did the old man suddenly ask this question? A bad feeling welled up in his heart. He trembled a little as he took the withered grass from his mouth. Li Kong asked, "Why did you suddenly ask this?"

"Young eagles have to learn how to fly. I can't always be with you. I also have something to do. I have seen all of your efforts this year. You are very hardworking, really hardworking." The old man walked up to Li Kong and patted his head.

In the past few months, every time the old man asked Li Kong to practice with those evil people, he would secretly follow Li Kong and pay attention to him in the dark. He could clearly recall the scene of the boy killing for the first time.

He vomited badly, but he did not complain or mention it when he returned to the back of the mountain. He just endured it alone.

At that moment, Liu Kuilin's heart clenched. He wanted the boy to vent, but the boy did not. He still forced a smile and replied, "Master, I'm fine."

However, Liu Kuilin always felt ashamed of the youth in front of him. He asked himself several times, "Why did he let the boy experience such terrible things when he was only twelve years old?"

The air suddenly seemed to freeze.

Li Kong cried. The strong teenager cried for the first time. He did not cry because of the terrible pain of the awakening magic. And he did not cry when he fought with the dark puppet until he fainted. He did not cry for the first time he killed someone.

But now he cried. Tears flowed down the young man's cheeks like pearls with broken strings.

"Master, did Kong'er do something wrong? You don't want Kong'er anymore? Can't I change it?" Li Kong said with a sullen face.

"No, Brat Kong, you did very well. It even exceeded my expectations." The old man reached out and wiped away Li Kong's tears. His eyes were slightly red.

"Then why did you chase me away?"

You've grown up. It's impossible for you to always be by my side. There is still a vast world waiting for you to explore outside. Besides, who said I don't want you anymore?

"I just have something I need to do. When I'm done, I will come to find you. At that time, I will see a strong mage, not a little cat." He pulled Li Kong to sit on a stone and gently comforted the boy who had suddenly become fragile.

The night was very quiet, and only the chirping of crickets could be heard from the back of the mountain, as if it were playing a song for the night.

Looking at the boy sleeping soundly in his arms, the old man murmured in a low voice, "He is still too young to bear this responsibility in advance. It seems that I need to do something for him."

"Give him more free time. He is still just a child." Then he picked up the boy and walked to the small house...

"Master." Li Kong woke up early in the morning and quickly shouted. He was afraid that the old man would leave without saying a word, so he hurriedly went down to search around.

"I haven't left yet. Don't worry, come and eat noodles since you've woken up. After eating, I will take you to a new place to learn magic." The old man walked out from the back of the wooden house with two bowls of hot noodles in his hands.

"Master, where are you taking me this time?" While eating the hot noodles made by the old man, the boy asked.

Looking at the lively young man, the old man was also in a good mood. He touched his beard and said, "Yuzhou City Magic High School."

"Go to school?" The youth tilted his head and asked.

"Yes, this is similar to a normal middle school, but the people who go there are all mages. You can get to know new people and get in touch with new things."

"Tomorrow is the day to recruit students. We will set off later." The old man sucked a mouthful of noodles and explained.

After following the old man out of the train, Li Kong looked at Yuzhou City curiously and could not help but say, "As expected of a senior-level city, high-rise buildings can be seen everywhere. It can't be compared with Yangzhou City."

"May I ask where Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School is?" The old man asked politely to a young man with glasses.

"Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School, I didn't hear wrong, right? Old man, did you ask the wrong thing? Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School is the place mages went to." The youth asked in disbelief.

This ordinary old man actually asked Yuzhou City's best magic secondary school, how could he not be surprised?

"Yes, it is Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School. I heard that this school is recruiting students today. I will take my grandson to have a look." Liu Kuilin replied with a friendly smile.

"I also plan to go take a look at the magic enrollment test this year. Let's go together." The young man with glasses said very naturally. He even invited the old man and Li Kong to go with him to take a look.

Liu Kuilin, who just happened to not know the way, agreed.

They followed the young man in glasses to the subway to Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School. Along the way, they learned that the young man was called Liu Ru. He was a First Grade water system mage. However, because his talent was too poor, he was unable to enter the magic school to study. However, he would visit Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School every year when they were recruiting students. This could also be regarded as comforting the desire in his heart.

Listening to Liu Ru's introduction, Li Kong had to admit the development of a senior-level city. A First Grade mage was already among the top in Yangzhou City, and here, it could only be regarded as an ordinary person.

"We are almost there. Grandpa, we are getting ready to get off the car. As soon as we get out of the subway station, we can see Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School's gate" Liu Ru said enthusiastically before they arrived at the station.

Unable to resist Liu Ru's enthusiasm, the old man and Li Kong also stood up. Not long later, the subway slowly stopped. Liu Ru supported Liu Kuilin and said, "Grandpa, there will be a sea of people at Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School's gate every year. It's just right for us to arrive at this time. We can get a seat close to the front."

"Why do you want to get a good seat?" Li Kong asked curiously.

"You don't know that some people have already arrived at three in the morning just to be able to stand in the front row. There are plenty of people like us who arrive at six in the morning." Liu Ru pushed up his glasses and explained with a smile. It was normal for people who had never seen before to be curious.

Walking out of the subway station, Li Kong was shocked by the scene in front of him. In front of him was a wide open square. There was a huge venue in the middle of the square. There were many people standing in the square, but there was no one in the middle.

At the end of the square, there was a huge stone with Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School written on it.

"That central area is the testing ground. In the past, I wanted to enter this Yuzhou City Magic Secondary School even in my dreams. But my talent isn't enough, so I can only watch others getting tests." Liu Ru looked at the center of the square and explained.

Looking at Liu Ru, Liu Kuilin chuckled and did not care too much.

"Young man, thank you for leading us. Let's split up here." Liu Kuilin patted Liu Ru's hand and smiled.

"Okay, goodbye grandpa." Liu Ru waved his hand.

For him, the old and the young were just two strangers who met by chance. Compared to his purpose, this was a small matter. He quickly walked into the square to find a place with a wide view so that he could watch the enrollment test.

"Master, I think this boy is a very good person." Li Kong tilted his head and looked at the old man.

"Well, except for the lack of talent in cultivation, the rest are not bad. He's very suitable." The old man looked at Liu Ru's back and said.

"Remember to take care of yourself."

"You can contact your parents more often."

"When fighting someone, you have to keep some trump cards."

"Cultivation is a big deal. You can't neglect it." The old man's voice rang out continuously.

"Got it. I will work hard." As Li Kong walked further and further away, his voice became softer and softer.
