Rejected by her Mate and being torn between two Realms, one where she grew up as a Water Elemental and healer and one where she is a werewolf Princess by birthright, Amaya Ricci will need to choose between her Alter ( Mate) and family.
View MoreAll my life, I've been known as a healer and Water elemental. Then I found out I'm a Guardian of Celestia.
This is how I met Evolet Zephyrine and, more importantly, Oren Wood, my Alter.
I never knew who my father was till five years ago when I suddenly transformed into a wolf.
I still remember that awful day.
Evolet was about to be killed by Aaro when my body started to change. I was supposed to protect her; I was her Guardian.
And I did. I snapped the neck of that monster with no remorse.
But the worst thing was yet to come. The look on everyone's face made me run away.
They were afraid of me.
Afraid of the unknown.
Five years ago
I kept running and running till my legs gave up. My feet, or better said, paws, were numb and bleeding. Stopping near a stream, I look at my reflection in the water.
A black beast was looking back at me. Its fur was darker than the night itself, and its eyes were the same colour as the sun.
'What is happening to me? Is this another curse?' I thought, not being able to actually speak.
'This is not a curse, my dear Amaya! This is who you are, my Princess!' A voice came inside my head.
I jump in surprise and fear as I did not expect anyone to be here, and I look around frantically, trying to figure out where the owner of that voice is. It seems to be a woman.
'Where are you? Come out!' I try to say, only to realise that I can not talk when all I hear were growls.
'You are so funny, Amaya Ricci!' The voice said.
'I'm funny?! What the hell is going on? Where are you? How can you hear my thoughts?' I keep growling?
'I'm in your head, Amaya. I'm Ivy, your wolf.'
'This is not funny! How can you be in my head? Did I get insane? Was the blood of that bastard poisoned? This is it?'
'No, silly! You are not insane. You are a werewolf who just got the first shift. This one is the worst. Now you better drink some water and rest.'
'Rest? How to do that when I have this voice in my head who keeps telling me stupid things? What shift and what werewolf, Ivy?' I said sarcastically, putting the accent on the last word.
'The shift is what just happened to you, smart ass. You shifted into a wolf. As for werewolves, I'm sure you heard before what they are!'
'Oh... thanks! So kind of you to enlighten me!'
'You know what, Amaya? I was trying to help, but if you want to be a rude and spoiled little...' Ivy said in my head but stopped when I started crying. Well whimpering.
'What's wrong, Amaya?' She asked in a worried voice, but I didn't answer.
I kept crying and thinking about what I am going to do now. I can not go back. They will be afraid of me, and I can not live like that. My heart cannot take this.
'Ivy? Are you there?' I asked after a few minutes.
'I'm always here, Amaya! As long as you won't block me out, the mind link is always open.'
'Mind link? This is what you call this?'
'Yeah! Are you better now? Because we should go!'
'I don't know. And go where exactly? Everyone will hate us now.'
'Why would you think that, Amaya? We have a mate somewhere. One that will love and protect us and only us.'
'A mate, you say? Is a mate like an Alter? Like a soulmate?'
'Yep! This is what a mate is. Every wolf has one.'
'But... What about Oren? He is my soulmate.'
'Well, I never have seen this before, but I think he is not your soulmate anymore. Otherwise, I could have felt the bond.'
My heart shattered at her words. In the time I spent with Oren, my feelings for him grew. He was my soulmate. He will always be.
'What should we do now, Ivy? Will we die alone?'
She starts laughing like crazy, making my headache even more.
'Die? Alone? No, little Amaya! We need to go home!'
'Home? What home? I have no home now!' I said and started running.
The pain in my heart made me forget about my tired body, so my legs buckled, and I fell on the forest floor. I close my eyes and think about when I was a kid and my mom was still alive. When she used to sing to me and make me cookies. Everything was so perfect. But then everything turned to ashes. When she died, I was alone against the whole world. I had my grandmother, but she never truly supported me. She was so harsh till lately.
I open my eyes suddenly when an agonising pain makes me scream.
'Amaya!' I heard Ivy in my head again.
'Wh... what is ha... happening to me?' I ask her.
'You are shifting back! Try to think of something nice. I'm here, Amaya! I will always help you! Even when you will ask me not to.'
'What should I do, Ivy?'
'Just don't try to stop it! I know it's painful, but you need to shift back completely.'
My bones were cracking, and sweat was dripping from my half shifted forehead. Blood was coming out of my mouth from how hard I bite my lips, just hoping it will help ease the pain.
After what felt like years, the pain disappeared.
And so was my energy. I was about to pass out when my right hand began to light up.
A blinding blue light that made me feel nervous and calm at the same time was now covering my right wrist.
"What is happening? What the hell is happening to me? Wasn't it enough that I already transformed into a freaking wolf?! What have I done wrong to go through so much pain? Do the Gods hate me that much?" I yell, looking at the dark sky.
'Amaya, look!' Ivy said into my mind.
I was about to tell her to fuck off when I realised that the light was there no more. But a weird sign was now on my wrist.
"Looks like an 'R'..." I said in a low voice touching the little black sign with my fingers.
Just before Ivy could say anything, the blue light reappeared, and I felt like my body was floating.
Then everything went black.
Three months later"Mom! Hurry up! We will be late!" I yelled at my mother, who was still in the shower.Today we will finally celebrate the freedom of those who were held captive by the Marino family. I could not do it earlier as I wanted for them and my mother to recover enough so they can enjoy this day.Besides, I was pretty busy.Making plans to expand our territory and building more houses is not an easy thing. I had to do this for all of those who want to come here.Anna and Leon decided to get married a month and a half ago. She is pregnant in four weeks. So imagine the excitement.
We were running through the forest for more than three hours now. The place where my mom was held captive should be close.'We will need to shift back soon. The place will be full of loyal Blood Moon Pack warriors. We need to be careful.' My father said through the mind link. After another ten minutes, we shifted and got dressed in the clothes that we brought with us."So what now?" Oren asks."We need to get in that cave. But from what I can tell, there are about twenty guards." My father said,"Twenty-six. There are exactly twenty-six guards—six at the cave entrance, eight hiding in the forest and the rest inside. I can't feel Cora, though. But that
"Amaya! Watch out!" Leon and Anna shouted at the same time.I shift straight away, trying to avoid Cora's attack. It was still hard to breathe but more manageable than in human form. I need to do something quickly, or I will die suffocated.I shift back and create an ice cage sound Cora. The cage quickly became a cube, and she was stuck inside. Breathing easier, I fall to the ground."Fuck! This was the third time already. She won't stop trying to kill me.""What are you going to do with her?" Leon asks."Hmm… for now, leave her there! We need to find my mother!"
Everyone was watching me, trying to get Cora to fight me alone. They all were gathered around us, waiting for her decision."Why will I waste my time, Amaya, when I can have the pleasure to see you suffer every day?"Cora said, smirking. She must have figured out what I was trying to do."Hm… so you are afraid of me then? Thank you for letting me know."She watched me with narrowed eyes, expecting me to do something. So I did."I challenge you, Alpha of Blood Moon Pack, for your position!" I said in a confident voice, loud enough for everyone to hear.He took a step forward, intending to hit me but
Oren's povI ran as fast as I could to reach the portal. Amaya told me to bring everyone to the Water Kingdom, as it was the closest to the exit. In case she was caught, I needed to do this. But I could just not let her fight alone. The women and girls were exhausted, but I did not let them rest. We were now just a few minutes away from the Water Kingdom borders. They stopped, breathing heavily and fell to the ground."I'm sorry, Oren, but we cannot continue like this." The older woman said, looking at the others then to the ground.I walk towards her and place my hand on her shoulder."Is, ok. You are saf
"Wakey wakey, Queen of no Realm! Is time to meet your destiny." Came Cora's annoying voice.I open my eye, and instinctively I get into a fighting position."Easy there! Not that I would not enjoy ending your misery, but my brother has other plans for you. So you better get dressed because he doesn't like waiting.""Do I look like I care what he likes? I do not give a fuck." I said, clenching my fists."Is this the way you speak about your Mate, now?" Mateo's voice came as soon as the door opened."You are NOT my Mate! But you are sick! Both of you!" I yell angrily at their smirks."Well, bro
I look at her, annoyed and confused. How is it happening that she has no scent? And worse than this, all of the ones that were with her were the same, scentless."Of course I come. I have missed you so much!" I said sarcastically and took a step in her direction. The little girl behind me started crying when Cora shouted at me."I would have killed you long ago if it wasn't for that stupid brother of mine. But now, what can I do? I need to take you back to your Mate!""Mate?! He fucking rejected me five years ago! I am not his Mate or his surrogate bitch! Let this get in that thick skull of yours, Cora!"She clenched her fists, looking me in the eyes.
The wall opens like a door to reveal stairs that lead to a dark tunnel."Stay behind me!" I said to Oren, who was about to protest when desperate screams filled the air.I rush into the tunnel only to stop in my tracks, terrified by the view. It was a dungeon. Dim lights were placed in every cell, making it possible for us to see the looks full of fear of the prisoners."Oh my God, Amaya! How sick can one be to do this?" Oren asks, going to the first cell. The dungeon was full of women and girls. All of them were in terrible shape. You could see how badly they were treated by way of them flinching at any slight noise."It's ok! We will get you out of here! No one will ev
I look in the direction where Oren was pointing, and I see a beaten woman barely breathing. Immediately run towards her keeping my guard up in case some lousy wolf appears."Oh my God, Oren! She is almost dead. Who would have done this to her?" I ask, checking the woman's pulse? She was alive, but without proper treatment, she won't survive for long."Oren, we need to help her!"He opens his mouth to speak, but the dying woman interrupts him.She was trying to speak, but the wound from her neck made this problematic."Is ok, we will help you," I said, caressing her forehead. She grabs my hand with her trembling and covere
