Elixir's POV

Everything changed when I crossed the threshold of the shrine.

My body was hit by a blast of heat, then bone-deep cold. The shadows that had followed us since the clearing rushed forward as if they had been waiting for me to enter, and the rune on my ribcage burned as if it had been set on fire.

Lucian's hand moved through empty air as he attempted to draw me back. I was sealed within when the stone doors between us slammed shut. "Elixir!" he yelled from outside, his voice panicked and muffled. I reached out, but my fingers met cold, ancient stone.

I was alone.

And yet, I wasn’t.

The air inside the temple thrummed with energy. A deep, rhythmic pulse vibrated through the floor, like a heartbeat—but it wasn’t mine. Runes along the walls flickered to life, glowing the same dark crimson as the mark on my side. They spiraled inward, leading deeper into the darkness.

I stepped forward, each movement dragging the shadows behind me. The further I walked, the quieter the wo

Elixir’s POVIt's next morning, the sun slightly crested the horizon when we set out.We traveled in silence.Every step felt heavier than the last. I led the way, guided not by maps or landmarks, but by instinct—by the throbbing heat of the rune beneath my ribs and the haunting echo of the ghost-woman’s warning.“Where blood meets moonlight.”That phrase hung heavily in my skull with every heartbeat.Lucian walked at my side, his expression unreadable. I hadn’t asked him to come, but I hadn’t needed to. Neither he, Ewen, nor Soren would let me walk into the unknown alone. Even now, fractured by the prophecy and torn by unspoken tension, they remained at my side. And I hated how that made this harder.Because the closer we got to the key, the closer we came to the choice.By midafternoon, the trees thinned, revealing a hidden valley shrouded in mist. At its center stood a broken circle of stones, ancient and weathered, glowing faintly beneath the daylight.I stopped short.“This is it

Elixir’s POVThe temple let me go, but it didn’t release me.Even as the doors opened and I stumbled back into the arms of the Alphas, I felt it—the weight of choice pressing against my chest like an invisible blade. Nyxthar’s words clung to me, twisting around my thoughts like a curse I couldn’t shake. One bond must break, or all will fall.Lucian, Soren, and Ewen surrounded me, their faces marked with worry and unspoken tension. I saw it now, more clearly than ever. The rivalry between them wasn’t just about power or territory—it was rooted in fear. The fear of losing me.And one of them would.I was the storm they’d been trying to weather. And now, I was becoming the reason the skies might crack wide open.“Let’s get her back to the camp,” Ewen said, his voice clipped but calm.Lucian didn’t move. “Not until she tells us what happened in there.”Soren’s hand brushed my lower back, grounding. “She’s shaken. Let her breathe.”“I’m not broken,” I said, though my voice came out smaller

Elixir's POVThe rune on my skin felt like it was on fire, a harsh reminder of something dark and unsettling. The whispers were there too, whispering in ways that sent coldness down my spine, wrapping around my thoughts like a cold vapor I couldn't shake off. The temple from my vision— it felt much too real to ignore. I could practically hear it calling out to me, but I was scared to respond to whatever it was.Lucian had a tight grip on my arms, concern etched into his face. “Elixir, what was that? You sounded like you were in unbearable pain.” He glanced down anxiously where my fingers were pressed against my ribs. “What happened to you?”I struggled to find my breath, taking a sharp inhale. “I... I don’t know.” Frustration bubbled up in me. “I was somewhere else. I saw this temple—like an ancient one, and there was something—maybe someone—there.” My voice trembled as my memory flashed to the shadowy figure. “It marked me.”Lucian’s expression hardened. “Marked you how?”Without say

Elixir’s POVThe wind was full of whispers—not the kind from rustling leaves or soft voices in the night. These whispers felt alive, thick with something ancient and hidden. And they were calling my name. I stood there, heart racing, as the sound wrapped around me like tendrils. “Elixir…” It was soft but clear. A voice from the dark. Lucian moved closer, his fingers barely brushing mine. “You heard that too, right?” I nodded, swallowing hard. “It knows me.” Ewen turned slowly, his hand close to his dagger. “It’s not just talking to you.” His voice was low but firm. “It’s waiting for you.” Soren stepped up, his face serious. “Then we can’t just let it come to us.” As soon as he spoke, the torches flickered violently before going out, throwing us into darkness. A chill ran down my spine. The courtyard, once bright with fire, was now just an empty black space. Even the stars seemed to fade, as if the darkness was swallowing everything. And then, something moved. N

Elixir’s POVI felt like I couldn’t catch my breath. What I had just experienced hung heavily on my chest, making each inhale difficult. The courtyard was still vibrating with my father's weird energy—or, more accurately, the thing that wore his face. The torches swirled in the breeze, forming long shadows that slithered across the stone walls. But when I looked around, he was gone. However, something felt unfinished; I had the impression that whatever had occurred had not been fully addressed. Lucian clamped his fingers around my wrist, grounding me. "We need to leave. Now." I nodded, despite the fact that my legs felt unstable. Soren and Ewen exchanged glances before turning to face me, their expressions a mix of worry and something else—wariness, perhaps. As if they weren’t sure what to make of me anymore. As if I was becoming something they couldn’t fully understand.“We need to understand what’s happening with you,” Ewen said, his tone careful. “That wasn’t just an i

Elixir’s POVThe courtyard still smelled of shadows and damp earth. Though my father—or whatever he had become—had vanished, the weight of his presence clung to the air, pressing against my skin like a lingering curse.Lucian stood rigid beside me; his fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles were bloodless. The tension in his body was a warning, a silent promise that whatever had just happened was far from over.“We need answers,” Soren said, his voice low, his blade still glinting under the flickering torches. “And we need them now.”Ewen nodded, his gaze locked on me. “Whatever he was, he’s tied to you, Elixir. This isn’t just about the past—it’s about you.”My stomach twisted. I knew they were right, but I had no idea where to start. My father’s words still rang in my ears: You will understand everything. But I didn’t. And that terrified me.Lucian turned to me, his expression unreadable. “You felt something, didn’t you?”I hesitated. “It wasn’t just him.” My voice barely broke

I felt a heavy lump in my throat as everything faded away, the last image stuck in my mind—my father's twisted smile, his empty eyes, and that unnatural chill that seemed to wrap around him.I couldn’t budge. It felt like my body was made of stone, and my heart was racing in my chest. My mind screamed that this wasn’t real, that it couldn’t be true. But deep down, where the dark thoughts lingered, I knew better.I had brought him back.Lucian was the first to react, moving in front of me, his growl low and dangerous. “That’s not him.” His voice was strained like he was pushing the words out through clenched teeth. “Whatever that is, it’s just using his face.”Soren quickly drew his blade, the moonlight glinting off it. “How is this even happening?” His voice was louder than a whisper, but the disbelief hung heavy in the air.Ewen stepped forward, his sharp gaze fixed on the fig

Elixir’s POVDarkness. It curled around me like a living thing, tendrils wrapping around my limbs, pressing against my skin like ice and fire woven together. It wasn’t just an absence of light—it was something deeper. Something ancient. It called to me, whispering my name with a voice that wasn’t mine, yet I knew it. Knew it like I knew my own breath.Victor’s voice cut through the void, low and firm. “Do not fight it, Elixir.”Lucian’s grip on my wrist tightened. “Don’t listen to him.”I looked between them. Lucian, wild-eyed and protective, his jaw clenched so tightly I thought it might shatter. Victor, calm but unyielding, watching me like he already knew what I would do.And then there was me.I had spent my whole life running from what I didn’t understand. From the curse in my blood. From the power waiting beneath my skin. But now? I couldn’t run anymore. The shadows had found me. The only choice left was whether I controlled them or let them consume me.My breath shook. “Tell me
