Emily woke up, the realization of two things immediately hitting her. One, she was feeling way better than she felt hours ago. And two, hours after hours had indeed passed. She sat up, feeling a wet towel immediately slip from her head. Picking it up from the floor, she wondered how it got there, her confusion immediately doubling as she saw her phone right next to her when she could clearly remember leaving it to charge before going to bed. With a light groan, she checked the time. It was past 6pm already, her hands immediately covering her mouth as she realized she had been asleep for over 8 hours. “Wow,” she breathed out as she got up, completely pulling the layers of blankets away from her. “Just how tired was I to sleep for that long?” Her mind instantly travelled towards Giovanni and she cursed under her breath. Seeing her sleep for that long, he must have thought she was a heavy sleeper when that was actually far from being the case. She did oversleep once in a while but
Emily was done with classes for the day and as she strolled through the bustling hallways, contemplating on heading to the cafeteria before heading home, she bumped into Tyler. “Emily!” A frown immediately appeared on her face as she spotted him, followed by her crossing her arms. He looked at her, an apologetic expression on his face as he rushed towards her. “Hi.” “Hi,” her tone was plain, doing a good job at showing how mad she was at him. “It’s you.” “When did you get back?” He asked. “I know you’re mad at me, Emily but I promise I wasn’t with my phone. I was busy with work I didn’t see the phone calls until the following day. And I wanted to come over to your place to check up on you but I got caught him with family stuffs again. How are you? Why were you calling? Did something happen?” Her anger subsided at the mention of his family. Though not as complicated as hers, he also had a problematic family. “It’s nothing serious,” she replied, deciding to not bother him about w
The moment Tyler dropped Emily off at home, she dashed into her room to get ready for the night. She stripped her old clothes off and got into the shower, taking her bath as quickly as possible. She had only one hour. An hour to get herself ready for whatever Giovanni had in mind for the night. In no time, she was all dolled up for the night. Our outfit was nothing extra with leather short skirt reaching her mid thigh and a crop top on. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail and she had light make up on, immediately plopping into one of the sofas in the living room to wait for him. Exactly fourty-five minutes had passed, Emily rubbing her palms together as she began to mentally count down till it was finally an hour. She had two guesses- either he texted her one more time or decided to just show up at the door and announce his presence. It seemed to be the latter as after a couple of minutes, she finally heard the doorbell ring. Immediately jumping to her feet, Emily took out her p
Emily and Tyler sat in silence, completely different thoughts on both their minds. They were far from having the night both of them planned. Emily’s legs were crossed, wondering if Giovanni had seen her text and without telling her, decided to cancel their date just like that. Tyler on the other hand was left to wonder if staying at home was any different from being at Emily’s as they both refused to utter even a single word to each other. The tension between them was evident and impossible to ignore. Emily had things to say she wasn’t saying and Tyler had things to do he wasn’t doing. “So,” Tyler finally spoke up. “So?” Emily replied him. He dramatically cleared his throat before continuing. “Is Giovanni still coming over? I mean, do you still have plans for the night?” “You tell me,” she immediately fired at him. “I texted him to inform him of your surprise presence and guess what, he hasn’t replied my message.” “Wait a second,” Tyler sat up. “Are you mad at me?” “Mad?” Emi
“Drop me at the next bus stop.” August let out a groan and tapped on the steering wheel, immediately turning to face Tyler. Seated in the passenger’s seat he still had his frown on his face- the same frown that had been on his face ever since he managed to drag Tyler in his car with him. “Why?” August asked him, glancing at his watch. “It’s getting late already. Let’s just go get something to eat then I’ll drive you back home.” “No, you won’t drive me back home,” Tyler stood his ground. “And in fact, you won’t be driving me anywhere. I only got in because of Emily and because you dragged me so drop me off now. I’m not going anywhere with you.” “Come on, Ty-” “Don’t call me Ty,” Tyler immediately glared at him. “No one calls me Ty and I won’t allow you be the first. So stick to my normal name- Tyler.” “Fine,” August groaned again then suddenly pulled over right at the express. “Tell me, Tyler. Why do you seem to really dislike me?” “Because,” Tyler hesitated. “You’ve not given
“Ah, look who it is. My best friend, Emily Stark!” “Are you drunk?” Emily swerved as she spotted Tyler heading in her direction, arms wide opened as he attempted to plunge her into a hug. “What’s gotten into you?” “Nothing,” he flashed her a smile and wrapped his arms around her shoulders instead. “I just missed your face.” “Yeah, right?” She rolled her eyes at him, remembering how he had walked her home the previous night. Thanks to him she got home later than expected and as a result, all she could do was text Giovanni to inform him she had gotten back home. And unfortunately, got no response from him. “Have you forgotten your fave was the last thing I saw before going to bed?” “Was it?” He laughed lightly. “You should be thrilled then. A lot of people would kill to be in your shoes.” “Dream on,” she snickered then paused in her steps. “Now this reminds me. About yesterday.” He also paused in his steps. “What about it?” “You and August,” she took a step closer towards him to
“Thank you for your help yesterday.” An excited glint appeared in August eyes as Giovanni uttered those words to him. Excited, he quickly plopped into one of the couches in Giovanni’s office and crossed legs, ready to squeeze words out of him. “You’re thanking me for my help yesterday?” August repeated. “And by help, you mean getting Tyler out of your way with Emily?” “Yes,” Giovanni nodded. “It was necessary and proved useful.” “Did something happen between you two yesterday?” August peered at him. “Something happened, didn’t it? Of course it did. There’s no way you’d be thanking me if there wasn’t an actual positive response.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Giovanni furrowed his brows. “We had dinner and yes, it went well. That is if that’s what you’re referring to.” “Giovanni-“ “That’s enough about me,” he adjusted his jacket and rose to his feet to join August on the couch, sitting opposite him. “What about you? Don’t you have a couple of things to tell me?” “M
Just as planned, August got off work early and drove straight to the Emily’s school. But he’s plan wasn’t to see Tyler. It was to see Emily. Already fairly familiar with the college premises, he drove straight to her faculty and parked his car at his now regular parking spot. Without hesitation, he got out and began walking in the direction he hoped to see her, fervently hoping Tyler would be giving lurking around her a break and let them meet in private. Luck however seemed to be on his side as after a couple of minutes of walking, he spotted Emily. Alone too. He wasn’t ready to face Tyler. Not after what happened the previous night with him still unsure of how to reply him or how to make things at least a tad bit better between them. Unwilling to push his luck, he immediately rushed towards her and stood right in front of her, blocking her before she could walk any further. Surprised by the unexpected guest, Emily blinked and looked around her, expecting Giovanni to also be pr
