ZAIRE'S POV

I parked on the driveway and got out of the car. I opened the trunk and grabbed the grocery bags.

Tasha, Maya and their cousin, Davina, we're sitting in the patio. As soon as they saw me, they got up and helped carry the bags inside.

Gloria was in the kitchen with Miss Maeve, getting the food ready.

There was some kind of a feeding scheme happening at church tomorrow. That was where all the food was going.

"Did you get everything on the list, Zai?" Gloria asked as we placed

  • End Game   Chapter 47: Voices in my head

ZAIRE'S POV My Sunday had been going good. For the first time in a long time, I went to church. I sat through the service, listened to the Word, prayed, and let everything weighing on my chest spill out before God. When I walked out of those church doors, I actually felt lighter. Like maybe I wasn't drowning anymore. Like maybe there was still a little peace left for someone like me. Then I made it home, ate, and knocked out on the couch after watching an early kick off game between NYJ and HTS. So tell me why the fuck I woke up to a text from that nigga Kai telling me to stay away from Sebastian. Was he fucking alright in the head? UNKNOWN: You didn't want him, right? Now he's mine. Keep your distance. UNKNOWN: It's Kai btw. I know you know who I am. I blinked at the screen, and read the text again. Then one more fucking time. Who the fuck did he think he was? My fingers flew across the keyboard before I could stop myself. ME: Or what? The typing bubble ap

Gloria asked as we placed the bags on the kitchen counter. I nodded. "Yeah." "Thank you." She smiled warmly. "I just got off the phone with Pastor Michael," my dad said as he walked into the kitchen. "He said two orphanages are coming tomorrow. Are you going to be able to cook all this food by yourself, honey?" "Me and Maeve already started," Gloria said. "I also called some of the ladies from church to help. They should be here any minute." "Okay, that's good." "Zai, are you coming to church with us tomorrow?" Ma

  • End Game   Chapter 45: Fifth stage of grief

SEBASTIAN'S POV "Was that him? Zaire?" Kai asked as he settled into the passenger seat. I nodded as I started the engine of my jeep. "Yeah." "Oh." I looked at him, frowning. "What?" "Nothing." He shrugged. "I just... didn't expect him to look like that." "What do you mean?" Kai rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't know. I guess I expected someone... softer." I raised an eyebrow. "Softer?" "Yeah." He laughed awkwardly. "Since you're well... you, I just assumed he'd be more feminine or something." I shook my head. "I like who I like, Kai. I don't care what they look like." Kai smiled. "Yeah... I can see that now." "Hmm." I hummed, pulling out of the parking lot. Checking the side mirror, my eyes drifted toward the entrance of the grocery store. The automatic doors slid open and Zaire walked out carrying two grocery bags, his keys dangling from one finger. For a second, my foot eased off the accelerator. I watched him adjust the bags before making his way across the parkin

  • End Game   Chapter 44: Call me delusional

A MONTH LATER... The past few weeks have been nothing but misery for both Sebastian and Zaire. Neither of them could honestly say they were handling what happened very well. Life had moved on. But for them, nothing felt the same anymore. Sebastian kept his promise. He stopped chasing Zaire. Although it was a struggle on its own, he was trying. He was fighting every single day. Some days were easier than others. Most days weren't. Still... He refused to give in. As for Zaire? Life had never been so dull and empty and excruciatingly lonely. For the most part of his life, all he ever wanted was for Sebastian to leave him alone. Now that he finally did, he wished he never did. He was feeling his absence like an open wound. It hurt like hell. He missed him so freaking much. So much so that he always found himself trying to call or text him but would stop himself. He did give in and messaged him one time but Sebastian never responded back. It was like a slap to his face.

  • End Game   Chapter 43: Guilty pleasure

WILL'S POV I pulled up my trousers and grabbed my school shirt before putting it back on. I looked beside me to see Reggie leaning against the car door, watching me with that annoying smirk on his face. "What?" I snapped, slowly buttoning the buttons. He chuckled, wiping sweat of his forehead. "I just gave you the best dick of your life and you won't even give me a smile?" I glared at him, hating that I was there in that car with his insufferable ass, just finished taking his dick up my ass. I was deceiving my teammates with this. I knew that. I tried to stop it after it happened for the first time-at Caleb's party-but I just couldn't seem to stop coming back for more. I was a straight guy, and so was Reggie. It was just that we liked fucking each other. Guilty pleasure. What could I say? One thing though: there was nothing passionate about whatever it was we had going on. We never even kissed. It was just angry sex between two guys who could barely stand each other.

  • End Game   Chapter 42: Letting him go

FOUR YEARS AGO... It was the first day back at school after the mid-term break. Zaire and Sebastian were both in eighth grade. Ever since they were little, they had gone to the same schools and, much to Zaire's annoyance, they always ended up in the same classes too. Zaire always wondered why he was always stuck with that annoying ass boy that always seemed to shadow him. Ever since Sebastian had walked into Mrs. Ackles' second-grade class as the new kid, he just couldn't seem to stay the fuck away from him. He didn't like it. And sure as hell didn't like the boy. Few years down the line, he still didn't like him. If anything, the more Sebastian tried to be around him, the more Zaire saw him as a pain in the ass. Sebastian on the other hand liked Zaire. At first, all he wanted was to be his friend. But at the start of that year, he finally realized the truth. What he had been feeling for Zaire all those years wasn't just friendship. He was in love with him. For the first tim

  • End Game   Chapter 7: Drawn to him again

SEBASTIAN’S POV "So you are a football player too, and you are still in high school?"Kai asked me as he leaned further into me. I let my arm drape loosely around his shoulder. I grinned, looking down at him."Yeah. What? Does me being a high schooler turn you off?" "What? No. I don't care if

  • End Game   Chapter 6: The Wrong Reaction

ZAIRE'S POV The drive to Dillion's friend's place felt longer than it actually was. Maybe because my head wasn't fucking quiet. The music was blasting out the windows-Reggie had control of the aux, which meant loud trap music and him drumming on the dashboard like he was in the damn band.I just s

  • End Game   Chapter 5: Unwanted thoughts

ZAIRE'S POVTwo days. Two fucking days had passed, but all I could still think about was him. I tried everything, from practice, gym, and even joining my aunt for her weird-ass meditation sessions, but nothing seemed to work. The more I tried to chase him out of my head, the deeper he crawled in.I

  • End Game   Chapter 4: Soft

SEBASTIAN’S POVSome old-school country tune poured through the speakers of my Jeep, the mellow beat syncing perfectly with the rhythm of my fingers drumming against the steering wheel. I bobbed my head, singing along with the song. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the disgust all over my b
